I know it's possible to change the hitbox in source because the Pac3 editor allows for hit box changing on the fly and seamless portals changes the diameter of the hitbox so they can be against walls. he could compromise with a cube hitbox. but that is compromise, and would allow for some shenanigans.
I tried but source only allows the player collider to be a world oriented box, the green indicator shows what your hitbox will be after you get rotated

ability to apply to props kind of like that one that allows you to click a prop and if you walk at it, it snaps you to it's flat surface and you can walk on it. i had been using other gravity hull tools to make trippy houses. walk in normally, one bedroom is on the wall, kitchen on the ceiling, past that is the balcony, yep you guessed it.. it's sideways.....

This reminds me of that old animation of a kiwi who couldn fly so it nailed a lot of trees on a cliff and jumped, so it looked like he was flying trhough a forest. Anyway, this man never fails to impress the GMod community, this + Seamless portals is going to be SO cool!
imagine multiplayer gamemode where these stick were instant and map is floating towers with no floor/damaging water except for couple platforms, so you run around, switch gravity and try to kill other players
would it be possible to have a mode/toggleable option for the player to automatically align with walls they walk into? It would be kinda scuffed for small surfaces/bumps on the ground but it would be neat to fight in a blocky map with this.
It reminds me of the gravity hull plating addon for space build way back in the day, although it probably works a lot different the effect seems to be about the same (it would create separate physics spaces outside of the map for the props you applied it to) - it was meant to make props walkable in all orientations. And crash the server a lot.

I'm wondering how this might mess with the AI, I don't know what the case is for gmod, but in other source games the AI seems to look for a specific location on the player to determine visibility, like in CS:S they look for the chest hitbox, so if your chest is behind geometry but your head isn't you are invisible to the AI. But those AI are different from the old node AI so I have no idea if a similar issue exists.
I don't know if it's valid with such a tall character, but Super Mario Galaxy solved its collision issues by making the player collider a sphere.

Does this only work with axis aligned normals? If not, then how did you do this? The Player Hull in GMod is an AABB collider, right?

Could you make the camera somehow tween/lerp to the wall like a small cutscene with a low to high pitch shift. I think that would be funny and cool.
