TT Gauge became popular because the Mickey Mouse Club, which was broadcast on BBC Television in around 1960, had a model train on a table in the studio. They received many letters about the model railway and in one programme they talked a little about it, including the fact that it was TT gauge, which was then little known.

Wow TT is back in Britain! Here in Germany it never completely vanished, In the 60 to 70s there was a huge fanbase in eastern Germany. After the reunion in 1989 one thought that was finished, but you can buy today a good range of high quality german models for example from Tillig or Piko.
But i have to get my hands on some of the British models as well, wonderful looking trains!

You can join the TT club for free as long as you don't live in America and Australia. So we who live in America have to wait until after the first of the year and paid £35.00 for a membership.

Really excited about TT120. Still haven't had my joining pack but got the first magazine and as you say, it looks like the sweet spot between OO and N gauge. It's also more prototypical, which is always nice 🙂

I was going to create a layout but was torn between OO and N; My main gripe with N is the ropey performance/quality of the N locos; I hope that TT gives us the N scale benefits but also the detail and running performance that OO gets; if it doesn't, then it fails right from the start

We had no post Sat but hopefully I'll get my welcome pack today. I've got the first issue already of the club mag and it's a great read, going to do my own thoughts video on it when I've read it. I've got a train set ordered too and this seems a nice alternative to 00 which, despite having plenty of space, I never seem to keep a layout up and running. Hopefuily this new scale will change that. Can't wait for them to expand into GWR models which is happening in phase 2.
