Huge, Huge respect and praise for Zane. The questions he asked really opened up Paramore and allowed us fans to see what the band really went through. The analytical break down of each individual song was outstanding. Zane really is one of the most under praised DJ's/producers
I owe him most of my rock tastes to him. He's been premiering new songs by terrific bands for more than a decade. Enter Shikari, The Blackout, Gallows, Biffy Clyro, Lower Than Atlantis, even Paramore during the Brand New Eyes era I think, etc. He's just a huge part of the UK music scene. Such a cool guy too, very easy-going and funny, while toning down his super enthusiasm when he needs to, to pay respect to each artist. Like, a stand up guy. Thanks Zane !
ciaran meaney yeah but keep in mind that hayley is not a victim here; josh & jeremy is. josh did awesome things to this band too. i believe they are famous & successful because of pretiness/hotness redhaired front lead. dont forget josh, he's the backbone reason why this band is famous. he wrote, direct, make melodies of the song. he'a just sick of being an "employee" of the band. for jeremy, he wanted hayley to treat him as partner but she treated again an emplyee. i understand why they left. but i promised to myself when i was 13 to forever love this eventhough im a guy & included this band in my top 10 fave rock band. now i still do love them but hayley did a huge mistake & she's the reason why others left
Corey Spiteri exactly! Zane has actually listened to the album and seems to be an actual fan of the band and knows about their history. A job well done is an understatement
Just coming back to this, it’s so sad hearing how Hayley couldn’t really write love songs before, there would always be something not quite right, but the love songs she has written for Taylor is so different, they’re so much more tender and beautiful and I think it says a lot about how Taylor is Hayley’s actual first love, and I just can’t cope 🥹😭
the fact that they can't even say jeremy's name (zane said it only once) says a lot. also when they talk about "tell me how" it's clear to see that hayley is struggling with opening about the story behind the song. losing jeremy broke something inside of hayley (and in taylor too, but it was worst on her i think) and it really makes me sad. we'll never know the whole story, we weren't there, but what i can see it's a dissapointed and really hurt person, hayley isn't faking anything, this really affected her whole life and that's the reason why it was so hard for her try to put her feelings into words. i'm so glad she could open to us, because "tell me how" it's a beautiful song, but it's also the saddest one i think, cause you can feel her pain in her voice, and i bet, if they perform it live, it'll be one of their most emotional performances ever. i hope this trio sticks together, they've made an amazing album, they were super honest and their new sound it's great.
You can tell he's the person that knows her the most, he knows how she thinks, what she feels and how to bring it out of her, it's no surprise he was the one bringing out Petals For Armor out of her, like Hayley said, it could only be him. These two really have something special, I love the way they complement one another
34:14 Hysterical. Hayley and Zac subtly break the fourth wall, hinting at the unseen film crew lurking in the room. Zac: "It felt like there was this many people (gestures broadly), like this many people in the room right now, like watching" Hayley: "What are you talking about? There's only four of us here." Zac: "It felt like there was four people..." Thanks to all four of those people for this brilliant interview.
Forever my favorite band...But it's quite sad to hear them talking about being so depressed, I really wish them all the happiness in the world, God bless them!
when she said waiting for Taylor's acoustic guitar, YES!!!! He's so good. I will always love this band. Their lyrics and music and just too good to ignore.
personally love part 48:38 Zac unintentionally making Taylor and Hayley laugh genuinely just by being honest. Really really huge props to Zane for rocking this interview. gogogo Paramore!
Zane you killed this interview!! I've been a fan of paramore for 10 years and this chat about the new album really gave me some perspective, I'm really looking forward to listen to After Laughter tomorrow
Watching this back and knowing what we know now, you have to feel for Hayley. So grateful for Taylor keeping these friends together. So excited for what is to come. Also, gotta love ZL
Every time I think about meeting Paramore, I feel like breaking down and crying and I get all teary eyed. I felt like they were about to break up, and felt it even more when Jeremy left, but the fact that it was actually said out loud, just breaks my heart. I know you guys aren't going to see this, but you guys have no idea how much you've helped me get through A LOT (and I mean A LOT) of things. Every single album always had songs that related to either how I was feeling or what was going on in my life at the time. Your songs can always bring me back to where I was at that time and it's just nostalgic for me from AWKIF to the singles that have been released so far from "After Laughter". This is one of the many reasons why I balled my eyes out when I first saw you guys in concert. I always wanted to tell you guys in person about how truly blessed and thankful I am for you. I am so grateful that you guys decided to keep pushing forward and keep Paramore alive! -From an honored fan 💛
Coming back to this interview after Hayley talked abt it after releasing Petals for Armor 1. It’s sad to know she wasn’t in a good place but it’s nice to know she’s better now. And that this interview brought her some peace at the time.
I love the album, and I love this interview! It really seems like Taylor is the glue that holds Paramore together, professionally, musically, and personally. He doesn't get nearly enough credit; so let's have a round of applause for Taylor York, everybody! :D
man I can't even pick favourites from this album. it's a masterpiece, and even though they're only in their late 20's, this album feels so mature. can tell this is gonna be the music of my year.
The people who are really going to enjoy this album are the true and loyal fans. Every record sounds so much better knowing the context, what they went through, their journey. This album is amazing!
In the middle of me watching this interview, Paramore drops all the audio for After Laughter on UA-cam and I've never been so undecided about what video to watch in my life...
i was 13 when this interview came out. i'm 17 now watching this again, i went and still am going thru many life and mental health problems. now the things said in this interview makes so much more sense. it's not just plainly "omg mood so relatable" but more in a life lesson and advice way. the part where zane talked about 26 is the kind of songs that you'd show to ur kid and tell them "this was me at a certain time, so whatever you're going thru, it'll be alright." hits so much.
Wow, I can only consider it amazing the realness and truth expressed through this interview by the band. It goes to show you how the trials of life will only force you to grow, even more so than you first thought. Best of wishes to the Paramore band and Zane Lowe as well for giving us this insight.
One of the best interviewers I've seen in a long time. Loved the break down of each song in the album. And congrats to Paramore for this great piece of art that is After Laughter. Since its release I just can't stop listening to the album. Told You So and Fake Happy are being played repeatedly on my work station!
Honestly i was so hyped about this new album after "hard times" thinking cool it's going to upbeat with twist of irony similar to "ain't it fun", but after hearing the whole album the first run. I was bit disappointed thinking there would moments of the old paramore (melody wise similar to now or part II). After hearing it a second time, lyrically it reminded me of where I am in my life in now a more settling environment without the constant drama and chaos. If rather it highlights the realizations on those dark subjects we all have the tendency to put behind in the back of our mind. Paramore never fails to bring the truth of personal hardships of relationships, growing up, and simply finding yourself along the way.
This interview looked like therapy for these guys, props to Zane, he is an incredible way of gaining trust & allowing people just empty their thoughts.
What a great interview man...Asking all the important questions. I said this in the part 1 video, but I feel like I know this guys, because I grew up listening to them. I watched them becoming bigger and bigger. I was there when they lost friends, and I am still here watching the return of one of them to the band. This is magical. I am so glad that Zac came back, and I'm sure it meanted al lot, especially for Hayley, after the departure of Jeremy. The moment when she told the story of Zac dancing and she thinking "I can't believe I'm friend of Zac again", that was pure. I'm so happy that friendship mean so much for her and for the band. I can't believe that they played with Zac again after 7 years. 7 years?! How the time passed so quickly?!. It made me think about how long we've been together, band and fans as an item, as part of one family. I can't tell you how excited I am for After Laughter. I feel like I'm seeing a friend after a very long time. And it will be magical. And yes, I'm crying already.
The three of you look knackered. The album is great and this is coming from a guy who has been a Paramore fan since I first watched the Emergency video on Kerrang many years ago. You need to take care of yourselves. Music is a blessing, don't let it be your curse. (I know Paramore will never read this but hopefully likeminded musicians like myself will agree x)
Paramore was with me since I was a kid. I grew while listening to them and still love them, almost 10 years later 😊 I love the way they are constantly evolving their music, and how they manage to stay honest along the way 💕
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making After Laughter. It's getting me through the most brutal breakup of my life. It seems like every time you release an album it's at the worst/perfect time for me. I admire all of you so much for being so real. I can't wait to see you finally for the first time on tour in September and vomit all of my feelings with you. See you in Dallas!
I feel much more connected to After Laughter knowing how real and human and focused Paramore is. I can relate to many of the things you guys said and i understand how that is printed into your musical work. Thank you for your honesty. It holds great value.
I'm so happy that this interview is about their music, their album, them as people and how they as a band have evolved. Not their love lives and clothing styles. Such an honest interview. I LOVE ZANE LOWE
Third time watching this. 8 years have passed and I still love them with all my heart. Thank you for saving my life, Paramore. Couldn't be more grateful for you. Here's to more years to come.
beautiful interview, zane. it's so refreshing to give each member room to breathe - as well as knowing what you're talking about and really understanding where they're coming from. thanks for this!
Everything in this interview is gold. I've got a new found respect for Taylor, Zac, and Hayley individually. These are the people I look up to the most!
Zane does a phenomenal job at interviewing. He's so interactive, and doesn't just ask hollow questions, they have substance and really open up the band. It literally just felt like buds discussing important key parts of time that the band went through. Hands down my favorite style of interview. Applause to Zane.
Wow, what a wonderful interview. The sound of the new album is not the sound that pulled me in 10 years ago but the lyrics on these songs radiate more with me than the lyrics 10 years ago. Which is why I will always love Paramore. They always seem to give me what my soul needs when I need it. Back then I needed to lose myself in the music, today I find myself getting lost in lyrics.
Zane: "YEEEY! ALRIGHT! HEY EVERYBODY! HOW'S IT GOING? THIS ONE IS CALLED "HARD TIMES"! CLAP YOUR HANDS! Have hard times. Everybody having "Hard Times"? Good, excellent." Hands down, best interviewer ever.
This whole interview was so peaceful and calming, it's wonderful to listen to them speak on how they created the album. I am so glad it's that we get to see through their music what was/is happening in their lives instead of trying to pry with uncomfortable questions (the way a lot of interviewers do it). Great job Zane! Aaaand it shows how important all the members of the band are, that they're not just Hayley's back up!
I feel like Hayley seems down. Hopefully the release of the album and all of her feelings being out there will get her out of the rut she's in. Love them all, so happy they made the album.
Poor girl. I know she's been struggling with everything that's been going on since the brothers left and then Jeremy too. I'm glad at least one of the brothers is back.
It's May 12th here and it's out on Spotify/iTunes. I already listened to all of the songs, let me tell you. It's beautiful, I love it, I don't care if 'this is not the Paramore that I know 10 years ago'. It's perfect to me. I was so afraid with this album, I had negative feelings about it, I was so afraid that the album would be too HalfNoise (don't get me wrong, I LOVE HalfNoise, but I dont want it to be the same type of vibes). But, OHMYGOSH it is sooo amazing, perfect, the kind of album that I've been looking for. And also No Friend, is that Taylor? because gosh, it punches me in the heart. So, thank you, thank you, thaaaank you very much.
Anindya Fadilla how many hours ahead are you from me? And that soo cool. Im kinda nervous and excited about the new album, Im worried now that you said to brace myself lol omg I really can't wait 😭😭😍😍
Man, I'm so pumped for this album. After listening to them talking about each track on the album, I'm most excited to hear Rose-Colored Boy, Grudges, Idle worship, and No friend. I've said it once and I'll say it again, I'm so proud of Paramore and how they made it through what they've been through. Even if I end up not liking this record, It won't change the love and the huge amount of respect I have for them. I FREAKING LOVE PARAMORE!!
they're my favourite people of all time, i can't even express how grateful i am for this band existing and still making awesome music. thank you so much paramore
Seeing this in 2023 and knowing what we know now makes a whole new perspective. Thank you Paramore for making it through. Your new album is absolutely incredible. Side note: I had the same checkered vans Hayley is wearing…but in the 80’s. The ultimate skater shoes.
thanks, Zane.
Paramore yoooooooooo
Thanks, Paramore!
i'm curious to hear caught in the middle's original version! the side b
Thanks, Pete
this whole interview looks like a therapy session
Huge, Huge respect and praise for Zane. The questions he asked really opened up Paramore and allowed us fans to see what the band really went through. The analytical break down of each individual song was outstanding. Zane really is one of the most under praised DJ's/producers
zane's a chill as dude. Easily one of the greatest producers and interviewers.
I owe him most of my rock tastes to him. He's been premiering new songs by terrific bands for more than a decade. Vladimir i completely agree
Petition for Zane to replace literally every journalist ever, because he's the best at interviewing and nobody will ever top him.
Him and Sean from Hot Ones are the best interviewers I've ever seen
lol what about nardwuar the human serviette
This is by far my favorite style of interview
pretentious lol
Corey Spiteri exactly! Zane has actually listened to the album and seems to be an actual fan of the band and knows about their history. A job well done is an understatement
makes me want to sit in that room (not a set or studio).
tbh this looks more like a therapy session than an interview
Hayley is so desperately unhappy here. Her face when Zane mentioned her being married...oh lord. I'm so glad she got out of that situation.
where does that happen? Timestamp?
Just coming back to this, it’s so sad hearing how Hayley couldn’t really write love songs before, there would always be something not quite right, but the love songs she has written for Taylor is so different, they’re so much more tender and beautiful and I think it says a lot about how Taylor is Hayley’s actual first love, and I just can’t cope 🥹😭

agostina ; hope you have seen the performance of that song. heartbreaking, and yet, the most beautiful performance of paramore for me.
@@ダチアヨ what did he do? I know nothing
pretty sure they signed NDAs when they settled in court, I think that's why they never really talk about him too

omg
WHAT
He's a smart man...can't hide nothing from him haha
😂
You can tell Taylor makes Hayley a better person...Zac is the perfect addition to Taylor’s essence. And now they’re all balanced.
You can tell he's the person that knows her the most, he knows how she thinks, what she feels and how to bring it out of her, it's no surprise he was the one bringing out Petals For Armor out of her, like Hayley said, it could only be him. 34:14 Hysterical. Hayley and Zac subtly break the fourth wall, hinting at the unseen film crew lurking in the room.
Zac: "It felt like there was this many people (gestures broadly), like this many people in the room right now, like watching"
Hayley: "What are you talking about? There's only four of us here."
Zac: "It felt like there was four people..."

Low key. No pressure. Just hang with me and my weather.

J R and the irony that he was doubting himself so hard because Josh had left. So awesome.
Omg when she starts talking about Josh and how they all grew up together
I felt the same with Yellowcard and then they broke up last year after more than 20 years of music. Oh the pain.
But why didn't they talked about jeremy tho?
@@Kaonashimusic personal issue

Third time watching this. 8 years have passed and I still love them with all my heart. Thank you for saving my life, Paramore. Couldn't be more grateful for you. Here's to more years to come.
Just now noticing the subtle way that Hayley's wearing red, Zac is wearing blue, and Taylor is wearing yellow, like in Hard a Times.❤️💙💛
It's so good to see Hayley, Taylor and Zac laughing together again, it feels like it's been a freaking eternity
Really want to listen to the Caught in the Middle demo :\
I saw this tour live, and I felt everything they said. It was a night I will never forget, and I'm so glad I have witnessed this life.
beautiful interview, zane. it's so refreshing to give each member room to breathe - as well as knowing what you're talking about and really understanding where they're coming from. thanks for this!
Applause to Zane.
omg i just realised they are wearing their primary colours like in hard times
Wow, what a wonderful interview. The sound of the new album is not the sound that pulled me in 10 years ago but the lyrics on these songs radiate more with me than the lyrics 10 years ago. Which is why I will always love Paramore. They always seem to give me what my soul needs when I need it. Back then I needed to lose myself in the music, today I find myself getting lost in lyrics.
Somebody give zane a fucking award for interviews actually about the artist and their music. #musicsalive
he doe his research
EXACTLY
Zane: "YEEEY! ALRIGHT! HEY EVERYBODY! HOW'S IT GOING? THIS ONE IS CALLED "HARD TIMES"! CLAP YOUR HANDS! Have hard times. Everybody having "Hard Times"? Good, excellent."
Hands down, best interviewer ever.
It is so unbelievably cool to hear about these songs before we've even heard them
this interview is almost an hour long and somehow I still didn’t want it to end.
Paramore album comes out tomorrow guys!! 🤘🏻😝🤘🏻
IM SO EXCITED FOR TOMORROW
probably one of the best Paramore interview I've ever heard
I feel like Hayley seems down. Hopefully the release of the album and all of her feelings being out there will get her out of the rut she's in. Love them all, so happy they made the album.
C & C Heating and cooling The lyrics are confirmation that she's feeling VERY down
Poor girl. I know she's been struggling with everything that's been going on since the brothers left and then Jeremy too. I'm glad at least one of the brothers is back.
C & C Heating and cooling She appears to be doing *much* better now that they're touring again. Her, Taylor & Zac look really happy.
I think because she was going through a divorce
can't wait to see them in London it'll be the first time i have ever seen them! i've wanted to see them live for years
ItsWayTooMuchEffort aw I'm so jealous.have fun!
Anindya Fadilla for I think that's the mewithoutYou singer
oh yeah true, i wrote the comment when i wasnt even on the No Friend conversation part lol
Anindya Fadilla where are you from? I'm from the uk so I still have about 4/5 hours left until it comes out and it's only 8:31 pm now
I live in Indonesia (right above Australia). I'm telling you, brace yourself because i did cry hahahaha
I FREAKING LOVE PARAMORE!!
they're my favourite people of all time, i can't even express how grateful i am for this band existing and still making awesome music. thank you so much paramore
aww now I wanna hear the more rocky version of caught in the middle.
I wish I could continually shout how much I love them to their faces
Seeing this in 2023 and knowing what we know now makes a whole new perspective. Thank you Paramore for making it through. Your new album is absolutely incredible. Side note: I had the same checkered vans Hayley is wearing…but in the 80’s. The ultimate skater shoes.
I need a gif of Hayley imitating Zac's dance at 34:46. It's too good.
Also, I don't really know who Zane Lowe is, but he's probably the best interviewer I have ever seen. Man, I want Beats 1 in my country..
I love this band so much, so excited for the album release tomorrow 🤘🏻💛
So sick. Nobody does interviews like Zane. Loved it.
Just came back from the This is Why interview and brO Zane is such a pro, and I could listen to Tay talk for hours
It breaks my heart that Hayley went through (and possibly still deals with) depression :(
this interview was beautiful, props to Zane for the perfect questions.
