I've never teard someone of public interest speak so openly about their disease - pictures and all! Its so refreshing to see an actor with such transparency on a topic that not only affects himself but others lives, greatly. Thank you.
i went to school with him. he was always really nice.
before or after he became famous?
Irianis. Ajbae4eva before he became famous. like 4th grade. i have the year books to prove it!
oooo78 he's very short too
dat boi He's 6'1 😂😂😂
He seems really nice
I wish I can be as open as he is. I've had crohn's for 8 years now and it still makes me uncomfortable to talk about because a lot of people just don't understand.
same
I have Ulcerative Colitis (Crohn's twin brother), and I say the main problem with talking about IBD is that we sufferers do not bleed on the outside. Sympathetic individuals do not notice us because we have no open sores, no rashes, no casts for broken bones, etc. They see our healthy outside and assume everything is OK because of that, when in reality our defective intestines are inflamed, bleeding, and giving us very real pain as we vanish into the nearest bathroom to relieve ourselves.
lov2shop123 your right people don't
Make them understand. Its not a sin to have a autoimmune disease. I m a crohnie too n i speak n make everyone understand how it is and how mentally strong i am to deal with it on a daily basis
I was diagnosed in 2016 and i was scared in the beginning, but now im ok to talk about it with people especially in my country there i few cases with crohn’s . So this is make me feel safe that people know more about what i am suffering, and can understand whatever im going through.
Ken's voice is so calming. Literally I just came here for him especially when rewatching The Secret Life of the American Teenager. xD
he's so handsome
ukr
Its the hair that attracts me
yup he is goddamn hot too and that's why I told my bae never cut his hair too
Alesia Ramdyal my sister thinks I look like him. I'm 6'1" & skinny. I also have the same hair style as him lol
Thank you Dr, Drew & Ken! My 13 yr old has crohn's and there aren't many people in the celebrity world to talk about this, especially one in the teen culture. Keep sharing your story! You have made new fans!
I hope he is ok now and understand more about this disease, i had it 4 years ago when i was 21 years old, and now thanks to god i feel better and im strong enough to fight this disease, he can do it. I hope he is healthy man now.
I have Crohn's Disease also. I also had my terminal ileum removed, and had to have an ileostomy because the surgery didn't go well. Unfortunately I had over 30 operations- I have severe Crohn's so my recovery wasn't very smooth. I missed my sophomore year of high school (I'm a senior now,) and it was hard.
The most comforting thing about this video is that he's a successful person living a seemingly "normal" (though I say this with much caution,) life. I feel like I have hope, too.
Sorry to hear that happen to you
My heart goes out to you Ken. You are a very charming man. You have gone through a lot, please don't give up. With some diet and lifestyle compromises along with cutting down on stress, you will recover more rapidly. I have experienced it personally, and thank God, things look better at present. I wish you a quick recovery Ken. Good luck!
I was 10 when I was diagnosed so it's so nice to see people talking about it cause when I was told I had it I was so confused and thought that I was completely alone with Crohn's
When I was 15 I was diagnosed, now 17, but I was able to save my intestines. I had a fistula that had to be drained and a sepsis experience but from help from my great doctors and a drastic diet revolution I still have all my intestines.
My father had it, he passed away when he was 55 yo but because they didn't have as good treatment at that time
I know interview is old .
But going through my 3 stage surgery almost 7 years ago . And still having ups and downs ; I commend his service to make this subject open .
I’m blessed to have a beautiful wife and 2 kids .
The Lowe’s are very low, the highs are surviving and maintaining, plus straight up acting to cover the pain.
#Invisible illness
I never understood this term until having UC. On the surface , I look normal . But it’s exhausting at times smiling and hiding the pain; just to avoid always having to explain a and repeat my symptoms.
Once again , thanks !
This is so sad i hope hem gets tough this😭😭
Ken Bauuman is an actor he plays the part of Ben Boykawhich on Secret Lif of the American Teenager personally I love that show and He is really good
I don't know this guy as an actor. But hes right.. 100 years ago or less....I would have been dead at the ripe old age of 23. I'm 30 now... I've had my ups and my way down low downs... but we are so blessed to have meds and surgery.
my wife is going through what might be crohns,... she has a GI appointment on aug 11th. 2 weeks away.
i am diagnosed with Crohn's disease and undergone surgery too. i can confirm that the picture are quit truthful to the act. personally i have almost a 15 centimeter long scar ( almost 17 stitch )
That scar is the same as mine and it took 3 weeks to stop leaking.
I had the exact same thing as this guy. 2 parts removed in one surgery.
Im sorry for ya dude 😘 wish you well
I have had Crohn's since I was 15 and I am now 29. I am facing my first resection. I have had surgeries for fistulas and abscesses but this is so scary to me. Glad he's speaking out.
The screeching dinner table monster in Alien was inspired by this condition - no joke.
Wow I never knew this!
He is really brave
I have it on two places and it is on the big and small bowel. I have had it sense i was 12. I'm 17 now and still have it.
I have meds for it but i can't have a surgery cuz they said that the chances of it coming back is big. :(
Thank God for modern medicine
my only issue with the initial statement was it can be completely controlled that's not totally accurate as it took me years to find drugs and surgery that led me to remission but there are a lot of people who don't find drugs that work and people still can die from complications so to say its completely controlled is downplaying it somewhat
I have this too :(
Brave soul
I was 4 years old when I got diegnosed with Crohn's disease and now just turned 13
And how are you doing now ?
Yeah
A) This guy is so cute! B) "It sort of reorganizes your social life": lol! Nice understatement.
I have too
I have this. It sucks I live. With. This. Pills. And. Other test
My sister had Crohn's disease she was 10 she had colostomy bag cuz they took out her intestines for large intestines
He had 2 surgery???
Can we post this video on our Facebook page and website, whatiscrohnsdisease.co.uk
I had Crohn's disease and rheumatoid arthritis! at 14 years old im 23 now, this sucks but I can't understand how to control it,
go gluten free and dairy free. talk to a nutritionist and you will heal. goto a nautropath for digestive enzymes.
I use weed helps 100%
oooo78 i can tell u first hand yes it does help, it doesnt fix the problem but it makes it to where i can get up out of bed and go to work. with out it im in so much pain i cant move.
i have also rheumatoid arthritis and small bowol swelling when I'm taking steroid and nsaid for ra my small bowl symptoms is severe i don't know how to control both
So I've been diagnosed with Chrohn's disease recently at the age of 19 and I have no idea what I should do to be able to live a normal life again even though my life will never be like it used to be.. It seems like I can't go a good normal day without some sort of steroid to stimulate my pain and diarrhea. I've seen a nutritionist and she told me that I will have to live on a diet plan forever. If anyone could help me and give me advice on whats good for you if you have Chrohn's as well, even though everyone's diet is different it could give me some sort of idea on what I should avoid. Thanks :)
Theodoro Buschermoehle There seems to exist a population of Chrohn's sufferers who have reversed their condition. i've met a couple but there are SEVERAL on UA-cam. You should see what they've all done and experiment with what may work with you.
Theodoro Buschermoehle no dairy, no gluten, no eggs, no gmo. fresh fruits, cooked veges, complex carbs, and easily digestible meat like seafood or boiled chicken. take parasite pills, oregano oil for yeast and pro biotics, drink apple cider vinegar. get a enema, get the one with a tube and bag that you use for gravity to get water and hydrogen perioxide up in your colon. 2 caps of hydrogen peroxide to a cup of water, do not add more!!!! this will put oxygen in there and help to alleviate the bloating
+Theodoro Buschermoehle hi ,I am french ,so.my English not perfect ,hope you understand well what I say to you .I am naturopath and since 12 years I was treating and cure completely 7 patients.....some in very bad condition physical...please careful you have to know today nobody have knowledge of chronh's disease
..yes surgery are temporary relief but only medicine by plant and special diet can cure definitely. For anybody how want to cure by natural medicine .....believe me they have no any side effect.and treatment is about 10 to 15 weeks ....can contact drpierreb@gmail.com and explain yours symptoms ......we will contact you back ....bonne chance à tous
+Theodoro Buschermoehle If you are on FaceBook, check out the support group: Crohn's & Ulcerative Colitis Support Site. Great bunch of folks on there. My son was diagnosed when he was 11. That was 24 years ago.
I've scoured the sources of the internet looking for help, as I too was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease when I was 19.
I came to the conclusion that the only way to figure out what you can and cannot eat is through trial and error. It may not be something you wanna hear, but it's true. Crohn's disease affects everyone who has it differently. I went on 25 different websites with 25 different diet plans. Some claim that they can only have raw vegetables but not cooked, some say they can only eat cooked vegetables, some claim they can have either or, and I've even seen people say they can't have any vegetables at all.
Now, this is the internet, and the internet is 86% bullshit. But still, only you know what you can or cannot handle. Find out what you can't have and eliminate it from your diet.
My advice, Drink pleanty of water, and be active.
My homie Ben Boykovick lol
