Thanks for sharing ❤ your work, especially cut in water method. Another good idea. I did try laser diode which could not cut CF, so the only way is to do CNC only the flying powder CF is a thing hard to deal with. Either go vacuum or water mist or like yours water tray.
Hi, i hope to see more of this my senior 😅. I am 20 year old Makers and enthusiast from Malaysia and i am proceeding into Autonomous RC Racing next year 2024.
Great choice and field of interest I am going to start uploading soos again had a new baby thay kept me out of posting for a long time but getting back now.
Autonomous RC racing? Sounds like fun & innovative . Needs lots of skills in programming n robotics/ electronics apart from the mechanical RC cars? Can post some of your creations U-tube Please.
I have been so crazy busy with life and at work. my wife is 7 months pregnant. But soon ill have some really nice projects rolling out. Full carbon fibre chassis for the high speed car.
Great vid! 🗜 re. "blue tape and super glue" blue tape stuck to the carbon fiber sheet? then super glued to a spoil board? is the spoil board wood or plastic or something else? How is the spoil board attached to the tray? How is the tray attached to the machine? I see no clamps or bolts or other fixturing hardware. Preparing to CNC drone frame in my machine. Thanks!
Thanks alot. The base of the Watergate is aluminum. It has about 10 bolts that bolt it to the bed of the machine. I out grease into the hole when I bolt it down and no liquid seeps out of it. Then I put painters tape onto the "spoil board". I don't really call it a spoil board because I don't cut into it. Then I put painters tape on the carbon fibre and glue it onto the spoil board.
Hi there. I can't say that there is a go to beginner machine. It almost comes down to what is available to You and what Your budget is. If Your are only going to cut carbon fibre you can use one of the cheap gantry style cnc routers from China.
@@kschu3011 so there is really a few things to consider. Budget.... size and weight. How much space do You have. What material do You want to cut. What kind of control system do You want. If you go on aliexpress you find 100's of routers. 99% of them will run mach3. Which I hate. But it does the job. They are all aluminium extrusion machines. They all use generic spindles. All of them are perfectly capable of cutting plastic, composite and very light duty aliminium work. I purchased the omio machine from a Chinese vender. It is high quality gantry style "cheap chinese" router. Die base is a very week point. Think extrusion. So I immediately upgraded that. I also bolted 2 cast iron beams to the back of the gantry to stiffen it and help with vibration damping and with those 2 upgrades my machine ended up cutting aliminium very very well. I also changed over to a centroid controller which was life changing for me. If yiu have any questions Yiu can mail me at raindeergames23@gmail.com I am more that willing to answer any questions You have and give advice.
Reverse the spindles and c hubs, run a carbon fiber splitter and mount the servo on the splitter. This is a very common trick for speed run guys who need chassis real-estate
Ive seen it done yes. Kevin Talbott did it on his one limitless. For this car however I have very specific body I want to run that wont accommodate the servo up front there but Im going to do in my limitless.
i'm planning to build a cnc to cut carbon fiber parts, can you pls tell me what is the wattage and rpm of your spindle ? i'm thinking of using 2.2KW 24000RPM spindle, will it be able to cur 3-6mm carbon fiber?
Hi good day hope You are doing well. A 2.2kw spindle is actually way overkill for cutting just carbon but it is a good universal spindle and will let You Mill some aliminium parts of needed. I'm going to start posting again soos. I've got a awesome cnc build coming. Scratch build of a 550kg gantry mill wil centeoid 5axis controller and closed loop 1um scale compensation. The 4th and 5 axis build aswell.
Hi so sorry for the late reply. I've been crazy busy with other things but hope to start posting soon. These I cut 20000rpm but anything from 16000 tp 240000rpm will work great. I feed very slow at 400mm/min. These are common PC board cutters available on ebay and aliexpress and I use a 1.6mm bit

This is brilliant! Well Done Reinier!
Thank You sir. I hope to bring alot of good content for those interested in these different subjects.
thanks for sharing the whole process, I would like to see more soon!

Water disposal method?
great video
may i ask what is the recomended machine for beginner , to cutting stuff like rc lowerdeck, upperdeck ? thank you

yeah i'll also cut some aluminium parts too.
thanks a lot for the reference, wish you the best for ur build and keep posting!
Lekker video ! Thanks a lot
I wonder if I can do the same method with a fixed gantry cnc though 😬
You definitely can
How fast do you think it will go, in reverse....
Only one way to find out.
Can you share your feeds and speed and a link for the end mill bit

How do you dispose the water ?
I let the water evaporate off and then I wipe all the carbon dust out with wet paper towl.
👍👍👍
