I was also checking out the weathered cars. They were really cool. First time attending that show and I had a great time looking at all the O gauge stuff.
Every train haul, is a great train haul. I love that little 0-4-0 switcher by K-Line you bought. It reminds me of my MPC #6-8506. You showcases that one in one of your videos, and I was hooked. I had to get one. I love that little thing. Now you purchased this one, and I like that one too. Time for me to do some researching again. I love switch engines in a yard. They’re so maneuverable. You can use them to go from accessory to accessory. Tom
Really great haul, Dave. Nice that you got the K-Line yard switcher. Always liked K-Line products, especially their new line of steam locos they introduced just before they went under.
Glad you enjoyed the show Dave! The one here this past weekend was a little disappointing but I did pick up a Lionel track maintainence car new in the box for $25. Nice little haul as usual.
Thanks! I’m trying to make the tin cars into a train with some other old parts I have laying around. Don’t know if it will happen or not but it will be fun to play with
Great video Dave. You got some great stuff. I’ll have to check that show out next time. You’re slowly catching the command control bug. I see DCS in your future!
I would thing that a building taller than your mountains would be interesting….but I would be ungluing and slicing into parts to make more smaller buildings using the 3D printer to complete them. Just a thought.
Dave, that Pennsy 0-4-0 was a steal at $150! Well done! It'll be just the thing for local deliveries on your layout where the big guys can't go. And that grain elevator for $5? Absolutely the thing for a metamorphosis into a coaling tower. Oh, those two tinplate shells? I'd attach them end to end, paint them silver, and make a diner out of them! It looks like there was some GOOD stuff at that show! Too bad I'm 250 miles away! Or maybe it isn't...🤣 Thanks for posting!
I’m thrilled with the haul. I’m trying to make the cars into a useable train at the moment. We will see what happens. Yeah that might be a bit far away!
Hi Dave I love going to shows when you aren’t looking for anything in particular and you come away with bargains you didn’t know you needed great stuff
I saw that show listing, but was scared off by them saying meet up, I didn't think they would have things for sale and it's about 3 plus hours away. Nice haul
Way to go, Dave, you got some really nice additions for your layout. The switcher is really neat and looks like it will be a lot of fun. I feel a little sorry for the poor guy you robbed. The grain elevator is the model I referred to from another video suggesting to use it for a grain mill by adding a powered paddle wheel and placing it at the stream. I have the same model and custom painted it and weathered the roof panels to look like rusted corrugated metal. I primed them with Krylon's flat grey primer, and I used the Americana DecoArt craft paints and sponge painted Grey Sky and Zinc for metal and sponge painted the Burt Umber for dark rust on the edges and daubed Cinnamon stick or Burnt Sienna over the top for light rust. Always use matte finishes for a realistic natural finish. Plastic structures need to be primed with flat spray paint or Dullcote before painting with acrylics, or the paint will bead up and not stick to the surface and will scratch or rub off easily after it dries. I used the 7-19 volt AC/DC Evan Designs SMD in the top of the elevator and a couple of their led gooseneck lamps above the loading ramp doors. It looks great lit up. You can google and print off vintage signs on standard printer paper and weather them with sandpaper by lightly sanding the front and back to make weathered looking painted on ghost signs or put them on cardstock and paint the edges with burnt umber and dry sponge paint the face with burt umber and cinnamon stick to make weathered looking metal signs. The signs can easily be applied using Elmer's glue or matte mediums. The thinner you sand them, the better they will conform to the texture of the surface their glued to and will look like faded painted on signs. The glue, or especially the matte medium, will dry flat and clear. It's OK if you sand too thin in places it will only add to the weathered effects. Instead of sanding the back, you can also lightly scrape to shave thin with an x-acto knife. Have fun practicing on several types to hone your skills. They're essentially free. You can get pretty good at it with practice, and it gives the structures some character. I made mine a CO-OP and I also have a Valley Feed and Seed store across from the elevator. Trainz sells the Lionel diecast grain tractor trailers with the tarp covered grain trailers.
I have to say this I always seem to go to the same train shows and always seem to miss seeing you I hope to continue with my stalking fanboy obsession LOL looking forward to the next show and saying hello
a great place to find some interesting items. i can only make it twice a year, so i probably spend more than i should sometimes. i don't have much lionel since you need room to run it, but that pennsylvania switcher sounded great for me and since it seems like everything works, it's a great buy.
Not sure what to do with the AF articulates?(I think they may be Marx). How about positioning them in a V formation (if you got room somwhere..lol), making them a diner and putting the new pickups and a couple taxis parked outside. Some interior detail, lights, etc., and you've got a cool new scene to admire!
Wow Dave, really nice items especially the K-line 0-4-0. I'm confident that you can do something creative with that big grain structure and those 2 articulated AF shells. Judging from what I see on Ebay you did quite well price wise on the K-Line with TMCC, sounds & smoke, especially considering no shipping. I'm definitely going to try to catch the next Kutztown Flash Train Meet At Renninger’s. Congratulations!
Thanks! I’ve been watching that engine for quite a while and have seen it close to that price a couple times but waited too long. I’ll figure something out with the building. Eventually. And yeah, it’s a great show, worth the trip
Very Cool Dave nice quantity of items very cool when is the update of the layout coming out? What you have decided on things or somewhat decided on things across the layout lately inquiring minds like mine would like 2 know lol thanx
Hey just though I would stop by and take a look. One thing I tell you to check out a video I posted of my lionel 736.Its pulling a long train. Around 20 to 29 boxcars. But like I been telling ya about the early MTH TRAINS railking line.I have pulled as many as 42 boxcars.Think I pulling your leg. Then go to 889ts were I have videos of long freight trains.BTW you come across some killer deals.I have seen that grain building but with price of $100 to$145 dollars. And I would like to know in your back ground music playing.I like it.
Thanks for stopping by. I’ve found most of my long trains have been limited by the layout not the engines. People have pulled 75+ cars with a postwar Trainmaster. The music in my videos is by a friend of mine. Link to his website in the video description, glad you like it, he’s a fantastic musician
"Flash: Sanitation workers were puzzled when several styrofoam mountains appeared curbside at a home in northern New Jersey. Further investigation revealed a new grain-hauling train layout in the owner's garage, but no further details were forthcoming."
Another great video, Dave. Love the little K-line 0-4-0 & the De Lorean from Back to the Future. Where did you find it? Been wanting one for my layout. The only time machine I have is a blue police box (T.a.r.d.i.s.). I also have K.I.T.T..
Last time I went to this show and it was canceled and a hippie holistic crystal pot growing convention was going on.......was so bummed I drove all the way there and there was no mention of the reschedule on the renningers web page only a small notice facebook......had no idea it was on again....Im cursed to never attend this meet😫🙃🤬😖
Cool finds, Dave! And I love that PRR Switcher. 😎👍
Thanks!
That grain elevator for $5 was a steal! I, too, see that little switcher every show for $250. For $150 and everything works, excellent deal! - Ryan
I couldn’t believe he only wanted $5. I had to buy it. Yeah the 0-4-0s are out there but usually higher priced.
I was also checking out the weathered cars. They were really cool. First time attending that show and I had a great time looking at all the O gauge stuff.
The weathered cars are amazing! I’ll have to give it a try at some point. But I feel like if I have one weathered car, I’ll want to weather them all
Every train haul, is a great train haul. I love that little 0-4-0 switcher by K-Line you bought. It reminds me of my MPC #6-8506. You showcases that one in one of your videos, and I was hooked. The 8506 is a great little engine and this one is just amazing. Definitely worth picking one up
Really great haul, Dave. Nice that you got the K-Line yard switcher. Always liked K-Line products, especially their new line of steam locos they introduced just before they went under.
Thanks. I’m super happy with my two K-Line switchers, really quality pieces
Glad you enjoyed the show Dave! The one here this past weekend was a little disappointing but I did pick up a Lionel track maintainence car new in the box for $25. Nice little haul as usual.
I love a good train show. A track maintenance car sounds good
I have gotten one in conventional when they first came out. (K-Line steam ). The cabs you pick up was a plus.
It’s a great engine
Great haul Dave! I’ll have to pull out my K-Line Pennsy switcher now and take it for a spin around the layout! 😄
Thanks. Do it!
good haul, make a diner out of those articulated passenger cars! Great bunch of vehicles. That Lionel building is awesome for $5.
Thanks! It’s always a good show. Command control is cool!
Nice haul you got there! The conrail gp engine you mentioned is a gp30 by the looks of it!
Thanks! I can never tell the difference!
Some great deals Dave
Oh yeah!
I would thing that a building taller than your mountains would be interesting….but I would be ungluing and slicing into parts to make more smaller buildings using the 3D printer to complete them. Just a thought.
Good idea. I may take it apart and see what I can do with the individual parts

I love it! You have to be one of the cheapest son of a guns I have ever seen lol! Besides me anyway! Look. Enjoyed the video! Thanks for sharing!
Frugal. I prefer frugal. lol. I’ve never seen the point in paying more when I don’t need to!
Great Dave excellent haul indeed! Happy Railroading
Thanks!
Hi Dave I love going to shows when you aren’t looking for anything in particular and you come away with bargains you didn’t know you needed great stuff
Oh yeah, it’s the best!
Good stuff. Had my eye on several of those.
So many good things at this show
I saw that show listing, but was scared off by them saying meet up, I didn't think they would have things for sale and it's about 3 plus hours away. Nice haul
Three hours is a bit of a haul for this show, but it is always a good one
Dave, that's one fine engine. I wouldn't bother cleaning it, just mop up the excess oil. Pity that K-Line isn't still with us.
It really is! It’s running wonderfully
Maybe build a train salvage yard with the housings. Do the hobo thing in a old box car
Good idea
Beautiful! I always thought Kine Line did a nice job
They certainly made some great pieces

You've done well once again Dave....👍 Maybe you can cut down the grain elevator and create two separate buildings ? Thank You !
Thanks! Yeah I’ll see about the grain elevator. Maybe it will fit on the new part of the layout
Great haul. I really like the Penn switcher.
Thanks!
that's a real nice engine that you picked up
Thanks. I’m really enjoying it.
