UPDATE - I'M BACK IN FACEBOOK!!! Thank you so much to those of you who suggested I call my old number. I would have never thought about that. I did that. I also texted. I even sent my video in case someone was on the other end and they would know I was for real. I GOT A REPLY!!! His name is Jason from Saco, Maine. He was so nice and he stayed with me via text and gave me the code when I tried to get in again. I'm in! And the first thing I did was change that number for the 2 step shit. I literally did a happy dance and cried, lol. Thank you to ALL OF YOU who tried to help me!!! AND THANK YOU JASON!!!

I'm glad tou got back in, thank you Jason for being a kind human! Life is really complicated these days even when one is super computer literate. For example, digital coupons. I always feel like I'm missing a great deal that would be available if I had the energy to search it out. Miss the Sunday paper with printed coupons. Happy 4th!

There are many stories like yours. ZERO customer service. FUCKING ZERO!!! It's just crazy.
That must be the reason some of my friends sent me new friend requests with a new page slightly changing their names. I always double check before I confirm their requests to make sure they haven't been hacked first.

Darlene , so here's a thought ... do you remember your old phone # ? If so maybe you could buy a cheap cell ( pay as you go , from like walmart ) and call in and tell them you want to transfer that old # to the new cell & they can transfer all your data from that cell to the new one too ? Just a thought .
I'm glad you got it all straightened out. Once FB put me in jail for ten days for sharing a friend's real estate listing. They thought I was a MLM, Hun, I guess.

I would call your old phone number and ask them if they have gotten any codes. Maybe they would stay on line with you while you do your log on and give you the code. 🤷♀️
I would have never thought about this! I called and it went to voicemail after ringing for a long time. So I texted. I hope I hear back from someone. I also sent my video so they would know I'm not some kind of weirdo. Well, I am, but you know what I mean. I'll let you know if I hear back. Thank you for this idea!

IT FUCKING WORKED!!! And I can't thank you enough for that suggestion. Others suggested it too, but you were the first. THANK YOU!!! A man named Jason texted me back and stayed with me while I went through the steps again and he gave me the code! I was beyond happy. I'm still over the moon over this! And yes, I changed the 2-step to my new number.

Good luck! I’ve been locked out of my laptop and after 2 hours of about loosing my mind I quit, that was 2 months ago. I agree, they make it impossible to get back in. Even a scammer would have trouble. And I hate Google mail, all the hoops you have o jump through make a person crazy. I think I’ve had to change my password dozens of times.

I couldn’t open my email for two days. I was to the point of tears because I had to do 2 step and second step was open email. So this morning, (07-04-24) I kept doing over and over, opening this or that, until finally I opened my email. 😅. Have a good day!
I was going to suggest that. I had a nightmare with getting into my sister's Gmail account after she passed. I had her phone, but I didn't know her pin #. It took me 6 months, and finally, they let me go through the recovery process. I had set her 2 step to an account that was mine in case she had any problems. I had to wait 30 days, and fortunately, they let me in. So I changed everything around. So this would never happen again. Unfortunately, it was too late to deal with things that should've been taken care of right away. But it's all good now.
I would try phoning your old number. If you don't receive any kind of callback, maybe try calling the service provider who was attached to your old number to see if it has been reassigned. If the number is not reassigned, you may be able to get it again or have it forward to your new number.
Do you still have the SIM card from your damaged phone? If so could you try putting it into another phone to receive the 2 step text?
Dose not work that way. Long story, but my old number was with straighttalk and they fucked up and wiped out my entire account that I had with them for years. They said it was like I never existed with them. That number might belong to someone else (I called, it went to voicemail and I also texted). But just putting that sim card in my phone would not work because there is no service for that number.

It might be a good idea to make a second fb account and make yourself an administrator on your business page. I did that and saved myself while in a similar situation. I could not access my profile for a bit but could easily use my business page.
I’ve been with Facebook for so long that I don’t even keep up with the new stuff. I didn’t even know we could do stuff like that. I will for sure look into that!

I have a pinned comment explaining. Long story short, I texted my old number in a man replied. He stayed with me on the phone while I try to login again, and when I needed the code, it was sent to him, and he gave it to me. His name is Jason, and he was awesome to help me like he did!
That happened to me and I finally gave up and just opened a new account. It's a pain to notify all my friends and family, but I used my husband's phone and got almost everyone added back.
I have 5,000 friends. I have 11, 300 people on my business page. I have over 6,000 members of my group. I have 20+ years of images on facebook. I will never build a new account up like that again. It's years of my life.
OMGOSH 😮 DARLENE!!! All this technology BS really triggers me. I’d be cursing up a storm. I commend you for being so calm about this. There has to be some way to contact Facebook. Can you write to them?
Or maybe find some people on LinkedIn that work for Facebook and message them?

@@lucygirl2948 When I was dealing with this exact same problem, I researched on FB how to regain access and found I had to send them a copy of my ID to prove I am who I say. When I faxed it I sent the ID info and also wrote on a piece of printer paper that the 2-step verification needed to be turned off so the code would not be texted to my old number and I included my new number. FB completely ignored it. Never got a response other than they said a code was sent to my phone (the old phone number I no longer had). It was like I was in a loop that had no escape! I don’t know how FB can operate without customer service. Well I do, people just create a new FB page when they can’t get into their current one, It’s horrible when we have this situation!

Another thought... Facebook provides 10 recovery codes. You can use these if you ever lose your authentication info. Did you happen to store those anywhere?
You can't use a recovery code if you also have the 2-step. Facebook even states that in their help section. But I texted my old number (thanks to the suggestions here) and a man texted me back and stayed with me while I went through the steps again and he gave me the code!

Oh my, I hate to tell you this. I've been locked out mine for 10years.. I had a old yahoo email, I hadnt used it for years and cant access it... Facebook is terrible.

Have you logged into fb on another device? If so, maybe you're still logged in and can access through those devices.
I'm logged out of my laptop, my phone and my ipad. It's all fucking hopeless.
Hi Darlene, my account got hacked last year and I followed the exact same steps and have the same situation in that it doesn’t recognize my phone number. Please share any help you may get. I honestly don’t think there is such a thing as FB assistance. ☹️
My issue was that Facebook was sending the 2-step code to my old number. I called my old number and the man, Jason, who has that number now gave me the code and I got back into Facebook!
My son builds computers, there are many that can do what he does. If you have someone in your town that helps build computers, usually independently owned call them. I bet you can get it done! Let us know how it goes.
I stopped my 2 step verification. Hell to the no. I had it on Chrome and there the worse. So I pay for a program through HP and they are 24 X 7. I guarantee it is tied to old number. I will be glad to ask them how to end that for you. I don't need 2 step verification because everyone is sending you a code via text or email. It is to hot of a mess. I will be glad to ask. But it is going to be your number.

I had this happen with my hotmail account….had it for 25 years….someone hacked it and stole it….I could not get any help anywhere….had to set up a new account…lost all my loyalty points/cards etc! It really sucked! So glad you got back in!

It's a long story and I'll explain in another video. But I was forced to change to a new number because straighttalk customer service fucked up and completely deleted my entire history with them. I was with them for years. They would not work with me on this and said I could not have that number back. I had to get a new number and since they fucked up, I left them and changed providers too. I would have never changed my number.
Maybe try texting your old number and telling them what happened? If someone has your old number, maybe they’ll help you with the code.
Really Darlene if you can get in touch with FB proper {whatever you call the managers} I'm sure they don't want to lose you and your customers business. Gppd luck!!!
Are you kidding me? I'm a nothing to them. Everyone is a nothings to them which is why there is NO customer service. None. They used to provide support years ago but no more. I think they have support now those who advertise on facebook, but I'm not an advertiser with them.

If no one has your old phone number, buy a cheap new phone and request your old number.
