My personal biggest problem with this event was the seemingly low drop rate of 2km eggs from Pokestops. When you only have one incubator, there's only so many 5km eggs you can hatch in a few days.
This low drop rate of 2km eggs also made one of the only other ways to get a Rockruff encounter (Field research threw egg hatching) a nightmare. Even if you managed to stack 3 "hatch 3 eggs" tasks, that's a minimum of 15 kilometers for 3 chances. The raid based ones we're practically highly limited for free to play players, unless you choose to fork over some premium raid passes.
You could farm 7km eggs reliably to get a Rockruff, but with tier five rarity, you probably weren't gonna get a dusk form. (Also this would once again make the hatch 3 eggs task really tedious)
They're doing the same thing now with the Dazzlng Dream Hatch challenge. I'm full of 10 k eggs, with 1 2km egg...

@@ballislife6172true but as I've opened all my gifts for the day and ended up with 5 spaces left for eggs and then ended up with 1x 2 km and 4x 10 km, having earlier got the same mix too, I have issues with that. No problems getting a mix but that's not a mix.

The problem here is that Niantics response to Campfire bug was to nerf the chance of guaranteed Dusk Form to as close to zero as they could. Their response to their bug was to punish the customers......TOTAL SCAM!!!!

@@Sarg3e He explains it in the video. Tldw you could see which Rockruffs were guaranteed to be Dusk Form on Campfire due to some missing assets. Letting you just target just those raids for passes. Once Niantic got wind of and couldn't fix it.....they turned the chance of those raids spawning down to the lowest possible chance in the system
I also find it hilarious how quickly they fix bugs and mistakes that negatively impact their revenue, but other bugs that have been there for years remain untouched. They couldn’t make it more obvious how little they care to fix the issues that don’t make them money. This community’s continued support of Niantic is what is truly troubling though. Things will never change.
agree, because the Rock Ruff that can evolve into Dusk Form, cannot evolve into the other 2, so even if you got a good Rockruff you cant evolve it into the midday/midnight form. Needlessly complicated catch, wasnt excited at all. I hope not too many people didnt spend money to get the shiny.
Worst of all is that Dusk Form shiny looks almost exactly the same as Midday Form shiny. I didnt even want the shiny, its so poorly designed.
I have never seen a gaming company treat there customer base this badly.

They also scammed people with the shiny espeon and shiny umbreon in the wild. They said they had a “bug” which in turn didn’t turn on the shiny for espeon and umbreon in the wild 🙄 they had a “bug” huh? They “forgot” huh? And they gave everyone a box with free 5 potions for our patience? I don’t think so. They purposely didn’t turn the shiny on so they could get more people to pay and play for the rockruff let’s not play stupid here. They think we’re dumb but we’re not. They had a “bug” which in turn didn’t turn on the shiny for the two? Yea okay. You lied to get more people to play and that’s messed up.
No kidding, I hunted Umbreon and Espeon so hard and no shinies though i definitely caught at least 100
Same thing for the therian tornadus raids, they "forgot to turn shinys on"

Yeah, wild Rockruff with a 5% chance to be Duskable. Then have the Dusk Form Rockruff exclusively hatching from special 10km eggs during the event. It was a scam that raids were not made clear in the game itself that it was a Dusk form Rockruff raid or just a normal Rockruff raid. They shouldn't have even had Normal form Rockruff raids.
the timing for this event was horrible for me, between it being during the week, while i was stuck at work and the temperatures here dropping severely (minus 30 celsius) i couldn't do much walking to hatch many eggs. i got a handful of rockruffs none could go dusk form and none were shiny. not everyone has a bottomless wallet and nice cozy weather to walk around in.

The glitch on campfire was fixed. Did a few raids that appeared as regular rockruff’s on campfire but actually caught dusk form from the raids. That was before I even knew about the glitch. I do agree dusk form rockruff was extremely rare to find out of the already impossible total number of rockruff raids. Best chance of tasks but even then chance of it being a dusk form was low.

In my area, the "glitch" on campfire worked right up till the end of the event. Even in my large metropolitan area, however, there were not many Rockruff raids running, and even fewer that were guaranteed dusk form
Someone needs to give them a lawsuit for false advertising, the amount of times they "forgot" to enable the shiny is too many for it to not be intentional.
I’d agree if I thought it would make a difference. This is the same company that is successfully navigating the EU trying to force “gacha” games to disclose their gambling odds, and yet here we are where Niantic is only getting WORSE with their gambling mechanics and hidden odds.
I hatched a shiny rockruff during the event, wasn't one of the "new" ones.
That’s what happened with Go Fest Chicago 2017. I ended up getting about 200$ in refund, but spend x3 that much to go.
I'm more convinced than ever it'll get a community day in the near future
Watch it will😂… They did that with Noibat… they released the shiny and made it an egg only Pokemon for the Halloween event in 2022 and like 4 months after it got a community day😂 and they will likely do the same for Larvesta

Rockruff... If not late this year then next year I think we'll see it back. I won't be surprised at all. Seems to be the cycle with pseudo go Fest and community day the following June and now a raid/egg Pokémon community day...

*More information about this topic and how they should've handled Lycanroc-Dusk in Pokémon GO:*
- Lycanroc-Dusk was first introduced in SM037 in the pokémon anime. Ash's Rockruff evolved into it after a green flash.
- Lycanroc-Dusk wasn't available as a form of Lycanroc at that time in the Sun & Moon games. It became a Mystery Gift later on.
- Lycanroc-Dusk is different from Lycanroc-Midday/Lycanroc-Midnight because in the main games it has a different ability.
- This ability is Own Tempo. You can breed it to get more Rockruffs with Own Tempo but not from it's other 3 abilities.
- It was expected that an old Rockruff couldn't evolve to Lycanroc-Dusk but not that the new ones couldn't evolve in all 3.
- They should've put Rockruff in the wild instead. The eggs made it very hard for the research and pay-to-win.
- There should've been more raids with the Dusk form because only a handful of raids in a big city got the Dusk form.
- They should stop with putting more rare pokémon or shiny boosted pokémon in research quests with hatching pokémon.
See I’m one hundred percent there with you but you’re forgetting one important thing Niantic doesn’t care what we think but they do like money so they paywall things by the way you notice when he mentioned how he got two 2k eggs and the rest were 5k and 10k for that batch ? Well they won’t admit it but they increase the odds of event unrelated eggs and decreased 2k odds additionally for 7k eggs they made it as rare as larvesta not to mention it was still their sharing the spot if you don’t know it hatch rate is less then one percent so that means hatching one is less than 0.5 percent chance for 7k eggs
Yes, that's also why I made the point of why they should've put Rockruff in the wild. I know they want money but this game is already from the start spoof & pay-to-win.
@@BoyFromBelgium99 I agree but they aren’t ones to make things fair they make it just that much harder to drive their incentives I wish they would be more reasonable but they have every desire to do this when the event is remotely desirable thats why they don’t go so hard on events people really aren’t concerned with. As much as I wish Niantic wasn’t driven to be this way at the end of the day it’s a corporation and they will choose to do whatever they as a business desire as long as it remains profitable which isn’t such a struggle for them outside the strike people had over the remote raid pass change which was a terrible change they honestly could’ve kept the limit at 10 and had little as no backlash because the average player didn’t use that much since without real currency that was to expensive and hard to do. It’s really simple as it’s stands Niantics only concern is profitability and their visions I can complain and question it all but our concerns aren’t their concerns the sooner people realize the sooner a possible rally of the community will come and that assuming everyone can stonewall Niantic but it’s highly unlikely most people are especially weak to their desire’s without a dramatic change in necessity which isn’t going to happen because it’s a game not an actual problem we face in the real world (sorry for this long rant just understand I agree with you but things are never so simple or ever truly fair we don’t have as much power as we like to imagine we do it’s just the whims of people in power who use their point of power to decide things for us)

I'm more pissed about them screwing up small events, shiny locking when it shouldn't and not feeling bad about it. I really hope the game dies out soon.
@@BoyFromBelgium99 oh a hundred percent regarding the remote raid you get that they increased the Prices not to deter players but so we can subsidize their selfish decisions regarding what they want for the game not only do we have no choice in the matter we pay for their hubris they made a decision knowing that the game would suffer now expect payplayers to spend more and I could be wrong since I’m not a veteran player but it seems they’ve dramatically increased money tickets for every new event every single week probably because they aren’t making the same money and that how they choose to keep us happy 😊
The real scam is gonna be the Sinnoh Tour. The fact that the exclusive moves for Dialga and Palkia won't be available for the normal forms and that theres only a small chance that the Orgin from you catch will have the move is a scam.
make you buy mountains of raid passes... i recently got back into pogo after a long break from 2017 until a few months ago, and honestky im about to quit again, while I can afford it, everything good is behind a paywall and it just feels wrong. If it was like a mainline game I would have absolutely zero problem dropping $70 and having access to everything, but ive definitely already spent more then that and dont have a lot to show for it

I got 1 palkia with spacial rend but all 22 origin form dialga with all having Roar of Time
It didn't just become available in USUM. You had to get an event Rockruff that had a special ability that otherwise couldn't be obtained. And only Rockruff with that special ability could evolve into Dusk form Lycanrock. These Rockruff didn't become "readily available" until Scarlet and Violet. Shiny hunting Dusk form Lycanroc is EXCEEDINGLY difficult in any game. Not a scam, just consistent with the rest of the franchise.
In scarlet/violet, it's still pretty tricky to get shiny dusk form, but a shiny rock sandwich makes only lycanroc spawn in one area, and if you keep resetting your game and adjusting the time so that it is dusk, you can find shiny dusk lycanroc eventually. It's definitely not the worst hunt. That glory belongs to Sunkern, which has only one repeatable spawn in the entire game.

the issue with hunting dusk lycanrock in s/v is that "dusk" only lasts 6 minutes of every 90 minute cycle and even during outbreaks they'll only actually spawn at dusk...Genuinely the worst hunt I've ever done in those games lol.
you can't even just catch a shiny rockruff as only Own Tempo rockruff can evolve into dusk and that only spawns as a wild tera mon which you can't exactly "hunt"
Also shiny Umbreon and Espeon were NOT activated. This game just went backwards after the remote raid debacle.

In Ultra sun and Ultra moon, old rockruff couldn't evolve into dusk form, you would have to get a special one with the ability own tempo
Yeah, it's a hidden ability with a different evolution, and since it PoGo pokemon can be transferred to home and then to mainline games, it makes sense that it has to be treated as a different entity in Pokémon Go. Niantic still handled the whole situation terribly, of course.
@@PuppeteerGamingit’s not a hidden ability, it is actually a different version of rockruff in the main series games. Just like in Go. You cannot use an ability patch to change it to the “Own Tempo” ability if it doesn’t already have it.

Got my only Dusk Rockruff early from a field research. I didn’t play much after that. I learned my lesson from the Larvesta scam. I hatched over 75 eggs during that event and got nothing.
This was such a frustrating and also disapointing event. It was way too difficult to get the Rockruff and way the event was over way too soon. I was able to only hatch a couple because of older eggs that I had to make space for, and it being really cold out doesn't help either.. xD And then all the eggs that hatched were either other Pokemon or the regular Rockruff..

I got my Dusk form evolving rockruff from 2km eggs after hatching like 60-70 eggs in total ,also it was very difficult to get the "hatch 3 eggs" research from pokestops which basically gives you the potentially dusk rockruff.
And i didn't pay anything to get it but it took a lot of walking and being active every day of the event

This event was so convoluted and based apparently only on luck of the draw that I didn't even bother trying.
I personally don't even really care all that much about having Dusk Form but for anyone who does, I could completely understand why someone would consider calling it a "scam".
Mystic didn't know that rockruff appeared in 7km eggs? It's a harder chance to get it, but better than spinning a stop and risk getting nothing but 5km and 10km eggs.
Mystic is ignorant on a lot of Pokemon things, whether it's mechanics from the main series or even mechanics from GO
What's worse is that the two raid event tasks and other event tested not guarantee you that the rockruff you got weather shiny or otherwise would at least be the form...
I could only spend time playing the last day of the event. Spent hours around a major city scanning raids on campfire for the “generic raid boss” symbol to appear. Finally found one on the map that was a 25 minute drive away and the raid ended in 27 minutes…. Took the risk and drove over. Was able to do the raid with less than a minute to spare. I did get a dusk form and was able to evolve it right away bc I had the candies, and the current time was around 4:30pm. Sound crazy right ?? It was when you consider that that’s the amount of effort that went in to just getting the chance for ONE dusk form 😂😅
1:42 the thing is nowadays the dusk form spawns naturally in modern games
kinda works like this in SV, where _not all_ wild Rockruff will have Own Tempo, which is what tells you that you can evolve it into Lycanroc-Dusk in the first place, though it should have it is you breed Lycanroc-dusk you already have while holding an Everstone
also Lycanroc-Dusk can be found it tera raids and (max raids in SwSh)
"New" rockruff from Ultra sun/moon can't evolve into all three. The original form can evolve into midday or midnight form, while the new "own tempo form" can only evolve into dusk form. This "own tempo form" was only released via a special event in US/UM, has a small chance of appearing in one single raid den in the Sw/Sh DLC, and has a very small chance of spawning in the wild in Sc/Vi
Didn't calculate the cost of the super incubators correctly as each 1 gives you 3 opportunities, so it'd be 200pc/3

FYI they never patched the glitch, it was just extremely rare. I'm in several global communities and people were checking their towns all day and usually only got a couple to show up with the glitched raid default icon. It was working through the end of the event. I ended up doing quite a few research and raids, got one shiny dusk via research and one via raid.

I tried everything to find that Dusk form ~ lost count of how many I hatched. Did loads of raids. Guess I wasn’t one of the lucky ones
The DS games were actually around $40 if I remember correctly, the price increased for the switch. So you spend more than the cost of the game.
i did not check how you calculated the incubator costs. but remember that one incubator can be used 3 times. so that price (if not already) should be divided by 3
They did this with Lucario s Aura Sphere. Riolu had to be hatched post the moves release, and you can't use a Fast Tm/Charge Tm to get the move. It's what ultimately made me quit playing GO. I started to move all of my pokemon off of GO because it will go down (service) one day, and i don't want my pokemon to he held from me, so im pain stakingly moving batches to home.
I feel incredibly fortunate that the first Rockruff I raided was a 15/14/14 that could evolve into Dusk Lycanroc.
Incredible luck for me, considering I held onto a hundo Rockruff to evolve into Dusk Lycanroc for 2 years only to find out I couldn’t. But hey, that’s Niantic for you.

Biggest letdown of the event was it made the last two people I knew who played, quit.
You know what pokemon actually scammed us? Wild shiny Umbreon and Espeon
People also have to understand Dusk Form has a different ability from the midday and midnight form it is even like this in mainline games

I mean, niantic did handle this release terribly, but if you played the main games like scarlet and violet you have to find one that's the ability own tempo. Obviously, the rockruff you find before the dusk form was even released wasn't going to evolve into that form.
14 Rockruff raids all over Philadelphia across two days and not a single Dusk form caught. So frustrating.
Also just to clarify, the 3DS games ultra sun/moon cost $40, not $60.
This is exactly why I’m playing the switch games much more than Pokémon go now- you pay once for the games (except the DLCs) and you get limitless opportunities to do fun things like shiny hunts and tera raids. I don’t even grind the pogo events anymore…it’s such a waste of time and money, especially since I don’t have either of those things anymore and it’s in the negative temps where I am right now :/. The investment just isn’t worth it anymore for me.
Nah, the biggest scam in pokemon as a whole is buying a ticket for missions to get a shiny mythical and not being able to even use it in the mainline games💀
Pokémon Go does not have the good will built up to do another scam. They are running on empty when it comes to good will with their player base.
They could've just added the Dusk form evolve feature to the rockruff we currently have and that the rockruff could be evolved at a specific time.
I would not call it a scam. It is possible to get without paying money. You just need patience. In the main games you pay 60, but then have to actually find them all. It is you as a person who decides to waste money on something unimportant like a shiny.
Glad pogo channels like yours do this so normal players know not to bother/don't feel fomo

Yeah I'm annoyed with this event. I didn't get a single Rockruff that could evolve into the dusk form. I did raids, field research, and eggs and didn't get a single one.

I can recommend generation 9 fairy type Pokemon, Fidough and evolution Dachsbun debut during this Dazzling Gleam event which full of fairy type Pokemon in the wild but Niantic don't plan to do it.
i only got 2 rockruffs from research tasks and both were dusk from, didn’t realise how good that was until seeing videos like this lol
the event was a totally a cash grab, but if you seriously wanted to hunt it the best way was to grab three task for wining two raids and then go do 2 raids.
same thing with the egg hatchs. grab three task for hatch three eggs then hatch three.
to be fair its all luck based (and if you dont have a ton of poke stop close to you even worse) but that would have been the best way to go about it, if you wanted the thing at all.
In my area in South Africa, there were basically NO rockruff raids so I had to do field research and hatch eggs. Hatched about 16 rockruff and another 12 from field research, got one shiny in existing forms, but NO rockruffs that could evolve into Dusk form.
Fun Fact, in the games you need a special Rockruff to get dusk form lycanrock. These special Rockruff have the ability called own tempo, not normally available for Rockruff or able to be swamped in with ability capsules or patches. But even so I don’t want to use this info to justify Niantic’s scam over here, if they want money, they must do it in the right way like buffing remote raid pass pricing or removing the time limit on paid research.

I got lucky after my second encounter because the first was a shadow on the map for me and it was still a normal one afterward. I wondered what even happened. Well done.
i did get about 20 rockruff total during the event, hatching and doing field research, got 0 dusk lycanrock, i would say its a scam for just the dusk lycanrock in general
Considering how fun and or easy it was for us to get other premium Pokémon, this even was sure a frustrating bust. First, I am positive they increased the chance of getting 5 and 10 k eggs, because I have never had so many in my inventory as this event. So not only were 2 km eggs hard to come by, but hatching a Rockruff was ridiculously hard (I particularly hate fomantis and smolive because that was all that seemed to hatch), and the small amount of Rockruff I did get were all normal evolution. Second, I played every Rockruff raid I had access to, which was about 6, and all of them were normal evolution. Third, I only got 2 of the Rockfuff field research, and of those, only 1 was dusk evolvable. I seriously played during this time. It was not a normal, oh I am going on my walk so I guess I'll play. I left my game open looking for raids, I walked twice as far as I usually do, I would go out multiple times a day. This was a slog and not particularly fun at all. Oh and none of the Rockruffs were shiny. This event left a bad taste in my mouth.

Now I feel very lucky. I didn't even know there was there was only a chance that dusk from Rockruff could be caught during the event. I thought it was all caught in the event were dusk forms. I got one in my first raid and didn't really play the rest of the event. Hope others didn't have to spend too much getting this!
I never saw a single rockruff in this dusk form version. I only have one rockruff from a egg hatch a few months ago.
I did a ton of in person raids. Got 4 that could evolve into dusk, and zero shinies.

I'm honestly so annoyed about this event. I didn't get a single rockruff that could evolve into the new form, despite encountering plenty of the pokemon during this period. They should have allowed every new rockruff to evolve into one of the three evos.

The fact is, for most people the cost is going to be similar to ltm events in apex or cod, around 200 usd with the range of 100-200 which is absurd on its own. With the really stupid changes that affect rural players more than city players really makes it not worth pushing money into this game.
After you caught the first updated non-dusk rockruff, you would see that only the "rare" hatch rockruff was the dustkform variant. So the hatch guide was very misleading since they would use the same icon at both tiers unless you had only encountered one of them.
That invite that gave the dusk form showed a "shadow", so you would have known going in. But after that first one, you are in the dark again with no shadow indicator of form. Sleezy.
I was annoyed when I found this out because I’ve been saving a 98% for 1 year
The only lucky thing was I got dusk form on the first and only egg I hatched but it definitely is a 100% scam
It took me 36 encounters with rockruff between tasks and eggs before I finally got a single dusk form. I spent a whole afternoon driving around trying to get the dusk form but using the campfire glitch never found a single one within my area. (And no shinies at all)
far as i could tell it wasnt patched they just lowered the chance of it appearing in raids by alot, i did the campfire trick on the final day

I got a shiny rockruff, but for some reason couldnt evolve it into Dusk Lycanroc during the event.....

Why is the shiny so important to catch in such cases. Isn't having the Dusk form Lycanroc enough for you when you know this might have an endless cost

I was frustrated by the impulse to "need" to use campfire for the glitch, but 1 not everyone has access to campfire, and 2 not everyone who has campfire was using it. I didn't get a single rockruff remote invite that was for a dusk form. The second was the more frustrating part of the whole thing. I spent more time floating around scanning the greater New Orleans area and calling out as many dusk form Rockruff raids I could than I did actually playing.

But in all seriousness for the past two generations since they started doing DLC expansions you've actually not owned all of the Pokemon for that generation if you don't shell out something like $90 for the game. Still probably a lot less than the whales in Pokemon go are spending but it is definitely not the base price of $60 for the game.
Total scam. I hatched dozens of eggs, only hatched a handful of Rockruff, and none could evolve into the dusk form. There were extremely few raids in my area. Even in Campfire, I only saw a few that could be Dusk form, but none close enough to use a raid pass.
If Niantic is going to continue with BS events like this, they need to be longer, so we have more time to hatch/raid.
My thing is since rockruff evolves into lycanrok why does it have to be specific ones? It should be like eevee and just evolve it at midday. Also it seems to me that Niantic apologizes but never does anything about it.
Something missing, which is how I had my luck... Raids and Hatching were looked at being the 2 primary ways to get em, which were premium.. BUUUT he was also in Field Tasks (which were yes, dependent on hatching eggs but was still available there) which is not a premium method, which is where I got my luck, I got a shiny (none dusk form) and 2 normal dusk form Rockruff from field tasks alone.
I caught a rockruff in the days that the event was available, but I can't evolve it to dusk form now, is that a bug or the dusk form was available if you evolve your rockruff during the event?

well actualy in the main series games only very special rockruff with the ability own tempo could evolve into dusk form not just any ususm rockruff (it was an event pokemon) and in pokemon sv rockruffs with own tempo are only found rarely (one single static spawn) so basically they weren't really thinking about the players they were just thinking about "accuracy"

I didn’t bother hunting this when I found we can’t use our old Rockruff. Eventually this will become common. If the Pokémon was more useful I might have tried.
You could see the dusk form rockruffs in the raid picture when the silhouette was black and not registered in the pokedex
Dude...over the course of the Rockruff event, I acquired 54 Rockruffs through research, eggs and raids (many remote). I got ONE Rockruff that can evolve into the dusk form (on the first day) and ZERO shinies.
I'm glad that I got my one but still...total waste of money and time.
It seems like Niantic only cares for the big content creators and the rich. Like some people don’t have it as good as others & can’t afford to raid anymore or pay for incubators or even travel to in person events no matter how bad you want to go or want them shinies. You will never see them. This game went from being free to play for everyone to pay up to play & for the butt kissers only.
shiny dusk lycanrock is just as difficult in s/v, you have a 6 minute window (dusk in game lasts 6 minutes) every 90 minutes and unless you're using sandwiches they only spawn in the most diverse area's, even then 6 minutes out of a 30 minute sandwich every 1 1/2 hours AND you can't even reliably reset because in game time of day is recalculated by system clock every time you start the game. Nor can you just hunt a shiny rockruff because only specific "own tempo" ones can evolve into dusk which is an ability they don't normally get and while the ones with it are static spawns they aren't effected by any sort of shiny odds boost so it's "full odds" every time if you go that route.
you can breed for it but there's no way to guarantee the hatched egg will always be Own Tempo and you can't use ability patches to swap to "Special abilities".
in short getting a Shiny duskrock just ALWAYS sucks.
Rockruff dusk form was 100% a scam. I hatched the maximum amount of 7k eggs each day all event, and not only did I barely get any dusk forms till the last day. I thought it was interesting that I didn’t start seeing the dusk rockruff evolution till after I did some rockruff raids on the last day of the event.
Rockruff from eggs where in 2 diffrent tiers. The easy tier has not the ability to evolve into dusk form and the harder tier has the ability to evolve into dusk form. So it was a SCAM!!!!
33 rock ruff seen, all from eggs. Like 20 maybe during this event but none can evolve into the new form
