on the Create Surface page, for the surface layer tab my default seems to be C-SURFACE not C-TOPO, not sure why this is. And also, my style is showing EG 2' & 10', not Contour. Help would be great.

go to annotate...there you will find ADD LABELS on the bottom left portion of your toolbar. click it. and then select "add multiple labels" .
after that ,just drag and draw a line on which you want the label.

You need x and y coordinates along with elevation inorder to create a contour.

you cannot import points to Civil 3D without coordinates (X,Y or E,N).
