@@allentoyokawa9068It’s doomsday for Infiniti now 😂😂😂 LOL 😝. What are you talking about? All of their cars are now discontinued after 2024 after the remaining 2024 Q50 inventory is sold. They have a lackluster and outdated QX50 and QX55 compact crossover with a friggin’ CVT. The QX60 is okay I guess, somewhat attractive. The all new 2025 QX80 is a joke. The refreshed 2025 Lincoln Navigator and 2025 Cadillac Escalade put it to shame. Infiniti needs a total overhaul immediately! 2003 - 2018 were the best years for Infiniti. They need some desperate help to change things.

You and me, the same... In March 03 pre-ordered my diamond graphite 6mt from Grubbs in DFW, a fabulous car. It was "harsh and fast", but also stunning and luxurious in its own way. Only difference between us is that I'm now 62 yrs old and still have mine at 105K. It is still fun as heck to drive with "guts" galore, probably still the best decision I've ever made. In 2008, I realized how fast I'd "kill" this car if I kept it as my daily driver. Looked at the landscape of other options and what was coming out in the future as far as a replacement for the G35 coupe. IMHO, not anything. Didn't really like the look of the G37, seemed like a "Lexus" compromise with bland front grill and rounded corners, styling said "Lexus" to me. Not that Lexus is bad, just not the aggressive look that I love about the G35 coupe, still think the coupe is still one of the most stunning cars on the road (not including supercars). Decided to become a two-vehicle person, kept the G and bought a 2008 Tacoma reg cab for my daily driver so I could also haul my 120 lb Rott around to the Vet and such. For the last decade or so, the G has become my "Sunday driver" going to church and grocery store once a week. Wow after driving the Taco around all week, getting in the G is such a treat, even after 22 years... Went to Grubbs a couple years ago and test drove a Q50, got in and what a luxury experience. It was so big compared to the G, but also SOOOO heavy, the life had left the car... It was much faster, much more powerful, but because of that, lost its connectivity to the road. Something about the G coupe, the rawness, the true grip and feel of the road, it was no longer there. Same thing when I test drove the G37 in 2008, they were going after Lexus luxury, but lost the "essence" of Infiniti...

If I would have done some research first I would have gotten a 6 speed with the rev up motor, still though, I liked the car. Reliable, comfortable, easy peasy to kick the backend out when I wanted to. I've since graduated to a Q50 AWD 3.7... it's nice too, but the 05 was definitely a bit more sports car, the Q50 is more a cruiser.

Infiniti made the Q50 ride softer to appeal to a wider audience. It’s still a fun and sporty car to drive. It uses the same platform as the V36 2007 - 2013 Infiniti G, but it was better there supposedly. All of the Nissan Skyline models V35, V36, or V37 sold as Infiniti G or Q50/Q60 are fun to drive. Factory is usually lacking in those subjects for my intended use. Would never know my cars have been changed, until you drive them. The body kits and stuff…yeah pretty lame in most cases lol. The loud exhausts are not needed unless on the track with other cars. For most of these cars, those exhaust systems don’t add any real performance to the system. Granted, this car has a much cheaper interior and no legendary JZ engine but still the value was amazing. Most of them have been destroyed by young people because the 350Z it is based on was more expensive in the used car market so people went to the Infiniti G to modify and butcher. @@gedamanThe Q50 was developed as a G37, G22d, and G35h from 2007 to 2012, but those trademarks were abandoned abruptly by JdN in September 2012 and he Q-ed everything, in new trademark filings during September 2012.
It was cryptic when they teased a new sedan in early December 2012, but not a new G by name. A week later, it all came to light. Q/QX renaming was leaked with those random trademark filings that September.
In January 2013, Q50 was revealed. Essentially a mini Infiniti M in execution, which made it more comfort orientated, by fell out of favor with the enthusiast customer base.
As much I don't want to hate Ghosn, it was mostly his decisions to cut investment in Infiniti in favor of BEV development and growing Nissan brand volume in the early 2010s-mid 2010s.
The South African had the same issues with both Infiniti and Cadillac. Stingy parent companies with unrelenting CEOs in Ghosn and Barra, who weren't ready to go to toe to toe with the German trio head on.
JdN wanted power packed turbo 6s, plus he wanted new V8s for Infiniti. He was told in no uncertain terms by Ghosn, Nissan V8 development had ended after the VK56 and that the VR series V6 would solely be its replacement.
I knew once the Titan and Patrol generations ended, V8 Nissans would be gone. For now the Australian Patrol will keep the 5.6, but know that Johan did fight for a new V8 to be developed.

Yeah there's a silver one here in Moab... they just could NOT leave it alone - in < 1 year they did what they do: removed the rear bumper - primered it black, then put it back on there... cheap springs with poor camber... and of course - the car is NEVER washed - "Don't have time for that dude bro/bruh - busy puttin out duh vibe dube bro/bruh..."
One day I saw the guy that drives it - typical conformist checklist items:
1 - confused / not all there / "somethings wrong bro!" expression
      2 - flat billed hat
      3 - black hoodie

I remember when this car came out. I had an e39 1999 bmw 540i. My friend just picked this up for $35-36k fully loaded. Hell of a car and it finally dethroned the 3 series both the sedan and coupe until the e90 came out with the 335i. That g35 gave me 282hp 300+ torque 540i a problem,I couldn’t pull on him until I did a few bolt ons. I later picked up a brand new e60 550i in 07 and the god damn G37 sedans were fast too,a g37S 6spd had no issue keeping up with my car at lower speeds,it was demoralizing. Again g35 coupe or sedan for $35k fully loaded was smoking an e46 330i sedan or coupe that was $50k+ for a 330ci with the zhp performance package, insanity. The G37 was great too but 335i was slightly ahead in performance this time and N54 is a legendary motor,so is a N55 in its own regard… still love the V motors in Infiniti, good stuff and I think Infiniti was the only Japanese brand to take on bmw and beat it

I really wish Nissan/Infiniti's general quality hadn't gone to crap. I owned many, including one of the original Sentra SE-R's and two Infiniti G20's, and they were great cars that wouldn't let you down. The G35 looked great on paper and testers said great things about it, but the interior didn't hold up, especially the junk-quality leather, and they seem to have mostly died early deaths or gotten into the hands of lowest-common-denominator type owners.

    • @gedaman
      @gedaman 2 місяці тому +1

The 2003 - 2004 model years were particularly bad with bad brakes that would wear out very fast. There was almost a class action lawsuit against Nissan over the brakes which is why Nissan improved the brakes for the 2005 model year when they gave the Infiniti G35 a mid-cycle refresh. The interior was upgraded too with higher quality materials including real aluminum trim instead of the cheap silver painted plastic trim pieces.

Hardly anyone bought the 2003 - 2004 Infiniti M45 (Nissan Cedric/Gloria). It was a total flop and not really made with America in mind sort of like the 1990 Infiniti M30 (Nissan Leopard). Sometimes Nissan just rebadges any Japanese Nissan model as an Infiniti expecting easy success and it blows up on them.

INFINITI has always made really good vehicles for the money. It’s a shame they aren’t making any more cars and only SUVs/crossovers, but they’re far from the only brand doing so. You can’t blame them for only making what people want to buy, but it is a shame great cars like the G series sedans and coupes as well as the Q series sedans and coupes are gone now. I loved my old I35, loved my G37, and love my Q50. They’ve all been great cars and with a few basic mods outperform cars that cost nearly twice the MSRP.
