I'm a Vette fan, so here goes this: Even with the heat (humidity) and additional weight of the track wing, the 2019 ZR1 shouldn't be getting beat this bad by the Huracan. Sorry folks, gotta be driver error on this at some point. I still think the Lambo is badass. I can appreciate both cars..thumbs up for unbiased comments.
Lambo is 610 WHP and ZR1 is 609 WHP. So both cars have even horses. The difference was a hot temp that adversely affected ZR1 and the huracan's better launch from a dig. You clearly saw that on a roll race both cars were dead even. Even horses power.

If you get 605-615 in a ZR1 then the conditions must be extremely terrible, or you're not in the right mode, or you set up the dyno wrong. Didn’t expect the Lamborghini to beat the ZR1 that bad, I expected it to win the dig but didn’t expect it to come back on top in the roll race, I’m guessing heat soak was affecting the ZR1 but that Hurican is impressive as hell.
GM puts one of their fastest transmissions in the corvette and they are pretty much on par with dual clutch transmissions and cost a lot less. The downforce doesn't really make a difference. theres a video of a ZR1 keeping up with a supercharge Huracan

It's more to it than the downforce wing excuse. The Vette does have weak gear at top end. You can see immediate change where the lambo starts taking over when the Vette shifts to next gear. That's not wing downforce sons... it's gearing.

Transmission, drive train, and one of the biggest people don't realize is every engine is different in where they make their best power in the Rev band. The V10 revs a lot faster and higher than that V8 and I bet It makes significant power throughout its whole Rev band whereas that V8 makes power up higher in the Rev band. Anytime an engine has a torque output that's close to it bhp and makes those numbers close throughout the whole Rev band its gonna be a quicker car. Just my 2 cents though!
I saw a few videos, and correct me if I am wrong.... The guy on the ZR1 is pretty close to 300 lbs vs the guy on the lambo around 190 lbs( and in the mclaren, which is the other video I saw). Also, the guy on the ZR1 is always with someone in the passenger’s seat (can’t clearly see in this video, but for sure in the mclaren’s). Is that the reason why this guy is always racing on the left lane (so we cannot see the passenger in the other car)? Finally, you can definitely tell that the guy making the video is very skilled; the guy on the ZR1 even manages to miss shifts with an auto transmission. In short, about extra 300 lbs in the ZR1, aero on the ZR1 and rookie driver in the ZR1 are the main contributing factors for this. It did not surprise me.... both are great cars. If you want to prove who is the better driver, you certainly did that. If you want to prove a point about the car, you should drive both cars, try your best and compare results. Kudos for being a great driver 💪🏻

Texas racing has a video of a stock ZR1 running with a supercharged huracan so I’m not buying this video something isn’t right with this corvette. Heck even Streetspeed 717 has videos of his car running with a 570s. Which is faster than a huracan
EXACTLY! I spoke with one of the guys that was in one of those during that TX race, The ZR1 took it. This video is crap, something is wrong. Either the ZR1 has issues, the driver is throwing the race, or that Huracan is modified. The C6 ZR1 race was junk too. The Drive sucked at shifting, his numbers posted at the end in that video were terrible.

KingVik I say the driver caused the car to lose. Notice that he used the paddle shifters and kept smacking the redline you can clearly hear the car didn’t shift quickly and in quick succession. In the inside clips you can see him pulling the paddles too late inside of the ZR1. But this whole thing they basically tried to make the ZR1 look bad compared to the lame McLaren and other cars. I felt the races were biased anyway.
The ZR1 has definitely turned into a track car, so much power and such little straight line performance because of all that downforce. It's track times tell a different story though. There's a popular video on UA-cam from BayAreaRacing where a stock manual Z06 beats a Stock huracan in a roll race, so that kind of shows how slow the ZR1 is in a straight.

Not really just look at the performante it’s a track car too and will kill the regular huracan in a straight line with all that aero with less hp then the zr1..Chevy needs to step it up with the trans
Erek K I saw people dabating about it in the comments too and i don't see it either like most agreed, either way it pulled on the Huracan for a long time even after it had time to catch up for the apparent jump until the long manual gears of the Z06 caught up to it. The automatic would have made it significantly faster and pulled hard on the Huracan. I've seen a race before by 1320 where a lightly modified (Full bolt on, and cam) manual Z06 raced a stock Auto Z06, and the auto still won even though he had almost 100hp less because he just couldn't keep up with the shorter and faster gears of the auto. So I have no doubt that an automatic Z06 is faster than the ZR1 and of course the huracan .

Crazy I’ve seen a video of the new ZR1 being neck and neck with a supercharged huracan. Look up ZR1 vs supercharged huracan, i guess these conditions weren’t ideal
Yea heAt soak would eat a lot of power on a forced induction car not so much on a n/a car. It doesn’t make since I’ve seen stock c6 zr1 and c7 zo6 pull on hurcan slightly from roll but forget about from a dig the awd and dct are to good. A heads and cam c6 zo6 will walk a hurcan easy. I’ve seen a video where a hurcan gets pulled on by a gt3 rs but then that same gt3 loses to s zr1 In a roll races. If you run a boosted car hard back to back to back it will heat soak and loose ally of power 50-70 whp or more and fall on its face on top in.

Great video! i have the Huracan so i love it but the ZR1 is really fast. why on some videos have i seen the ZR1 beat the 610-4 by a fair amount? Your videos seem pretty fair and comprehensive so i trust your content and times more than most videos. I ask because if i go to race a ZR1 i don't want to think im faster and not be in reality! lol
ZR1 in this video was screwed. Heat soak meant the ECU was pulling a load of power. This ZR1 also had the high wing so more drag. Most ZR1s in the wild will not be this slow.
Maticalise Music Master 3x the price of the vette tho too... you get what you pay for i guess. If you want super advanced aero get the lambo if you want the old school way get the vette or viper acr.
john m i have a few friends with these cars trust youre 2 options in and the car is in half a million range. Regular huracan can easily get up to 400k.
Zr1 driver was using the paddles and hit the rev limiter. It kills momentum. For drag racing you just put it in drive and let the computer shift. It even says "performance shift" on the dash when it does it.
I am familiar with that track. I have done a few trackdays on my motorcycle there. Pbir is the name of the track. Why did they not do a comparison of lap times around there is the question. Those cars were designed for that type of stuff. So sad to see them only used for drag racing. What a waste of money. I could build one hell of a drag car for less than what they spent. Those cars are great used them for what the engineers built them for. Hell that is why they are so expensive. Anyone can build a car that goes fast in a straight line. Sorry just my thoughts. AWD is a big difference. Many people don't remember the GMC Cyclone back in the late 80's early 90's, six cylinder truck that ran 12's in the 1/4 mile from factory. ( it was quicker than the first Corvette ZR1, and both vehicles were introduced at about the same time )
I don't know, I just don't like or care for the ZR1, the Z06 is a good looking car with lots of power that's a good value for the money, the ZR1 on the other hand isn't and looks like a hot mess.
It's an auto with traction control. How much can skill help? Mash the throttle and keep it straight. Unless it's spinning the wheels excessively or getting sideways there is not much the driver can do to help.

Agree Erik, at speeds under 130mph downforce is not playing a huge roll. I can imagine the drag is quite high but it has to be the extra weight and slushbox which are slowing it up a lot. Still this zr1 puts down more WHP than this Lambo makes at the flywheel ffs.

@@bmx687HP isn't the only factor. Weight, drag, gearbox and driver also play a huge role. Also, on this day the ZR1 likely was only making 50hp more than the Huracan.
@@MrGoldarr it has cooler but it cant cool air so fust, drag cars have ice boxes with coolers but they also drive faster on cold weather. Even na cars are slowe in hot weather but not so much as turbo or supercharged cars because those cars use much more air and you cant cool it so fast as the consume it.... Altitude is also big part if air is not enough rich with O2 boost is not so benificial as in lower altitude...

Were the 1/4 mile times given? The ZR1 1/4 looked way off. Either the ZR1 was running very slow, or the Huracan was running very fast. The times should give us an idea of which be the case. I may have missed the ET's.

The Corvette's engine sounded confused when upshifted almost like it was going to backfire or stall in the rolling 40-150 mph run. It was not performing the way an over $130,000 performance car with a race package would be expected to perform. There is something wrong with that particular car. If that's not it then likely an engine management firmware bug fix caused unexpected results causing the problem. GM likely already has a fix for it. The cars weigh basically the same, but the Corvette has 150 more horsepower and probably even a bigger advantage in torque. The Corvette's obvious disadvantages with the Huracan are it is loosing some horsepower in the automatic transmission torque converter and the transmission gearing itself is likely more power consuming than the Huracan's DCT. The Corvette's balanced 90° V8 crank has higher engine rotation assembly weight and initial to over come vs. the Huracan's flat V8 crank. These disadvantages shouldn't come close to taking away 150 horsepower advantage. These horsepower rating are probably SAE certified so they should be directly comparable.
The corvette has an extra 140hp but also weighs a lot more and has a larger drag coefficient. The hurrican overall is smaller and has awd. But on the track it would be wa different story. Much more level playing field. The zr1 is by far the best car chevy has ever made. And the fact that is is in the same league as Europe’s finest is impressive alone
That is absolutely incorrect. The ECU does not limit power until 500 miles. Huracan is an absolute monster! Down 150hp and it pulls the ZR1 at high speed. It’s the combination of that high revving V10 and insanely fast transmission. Not taking anything away from the ZR1. I’m not a Corvette guy, but the thing looks and sounds mean. It’s also an insanely fast car. Not a lot that can beat a Huracan or R8 plus out of the box.
With the track options like the tall spoiler the ZR1 shines on a road course. The heat worked to the Huracans favor too. Under normal conditions it would have been closer but a ZR1 will slay it on a real race track with curves lol.
Even in a rolling start the zr1 stays up with the huracan plus it has a fucking massive spoiler. And the acceleration is obviously going to be favored by awd so the huracan will win. The corvette is some incredible engineering
If it didn’t have the track pack with all that aero that 40 roll would’ve been far more brutal, that package adds so much down force that it’s top end is hampered quite a bit
The main difference between the 2009 and 2019 ZR1 is the giant wing on the 2019, it makes the car corner better but it also creates drag and makes the car slower. If the 2019 didn't have the aero package, it would do better in a drag race.
Bang for the buck that ZR1 is bad ass. Of course unless it’s on a preped surface and on a proper drag set up a $300k awd will probably beat it 10 out of 10. New ZR1’s are pretty serious.

Texas racing has a video of a stock ZR1 running with a supercharged huracan so I’m not buying this video something isn’t right with this corvette. Heck even Streetspeed 717 has videos of his car running with a 570s. Which is faster than a huracan

EXACTLY! I spoke with one of the guys that was in one of those during that TX race, The ZR1 took it. This video is crap, something is wrong. Either the ZR1 has issues, the driver is throwing the race, or that Huracan is modified. The C6 ZR1 race was junk too. The Drive sucked at shifting, his numbers posted at the end in that video were terrible.

KingVik I say the driver caused the car to lose. Notice that he used the paddle shifters and kept smacking the redline you can clearly hear the car didn’t shift quickly and in quick succession. In the inside clips you can see him pulling the paddles too late inside of the ZR1. But this whole thing they basically tried to make the ZR1 look bad compared to the lame McLaren and other cars. I felt the races were biased anyway.

The ZR1 has definitely turned into a track car, so much power and such little straight line performance because of all that downforce. It's track times tell a different story though. There's a popular video on UA-cam from BayAreaRacing where a stock manual Z06 beats a Stock huracan in a roll race, so that kind of shows how slow the ZR1 is in a straight.
That roll race is horrible. You can see the Z06 jump about a second before the Lambo takes off. Look at the 1:10 mark, it is very clear.

Not really just look at the performante it’s a track car too and will kill the regular huracan in a straight line with all that aero with less hp then the zr1..Chevy needs to step it up with the trans
Erek K I saw people dabating about it in the comments too and i don't see it either like most agreed, either way it pulled on the Huracan for a long time even after it had time to catch up for the apparent jump until the long manual gears of the Z06 caught up to it. The automatic would have made it significantly faster and pulled hard on the Huracan. I've seen a race before by 1320 where a lightly modified (Full bolt on, and cam) manual Z06 raced a stock Auto Z06, and the auto still won even though he had almost 100hp less because he just couldn't keep up with the shorter and faster gears of the auto. So I have no doubt that an automatic Z06 is faster than the ZR1 and of course the huracan .

I am thinking some of those foreign cars are way underrated. 755 HP vrs 602 HP and close to same weight? Come on, no way does 602 HP walk away from 755 HP.

Yea heAt soak would eat a lot of power on a forced induction car not so much on a n/a car. It doesn’t make since I’ve seen stock c6 zr1 and c7 zo6 pull on hurcan slightly from roll but forget about from a dig the awd and dct are to good. A heads and cam c6 zo6 will walk a hurcan easy. I’ve seen a video where a hurcan gets pulled on by a gt3 rs but then that same gt3 loses to s zr1 In a roll races. If you run a boosted car hard back to back to back it will heat soak and loose ally of power 50-70 whp or more and fall on its face on top in.

Great video! i have the Huracan so i love it but the ZR1 is really fast. why on some videos have i seen the ZR1 beat the 610-4 by a fair amount? Your videos seem pretty fair and comprehensive so i trust your content and times more than most videos. I ask because if i go to race a ZR1 i don't want to think im faster and not be in reality! lol
ZR1 in this video was screwed. Heat soak meant the ECU was pulling a load of power. This ZR1 also had the high wing so more drag. Most ZR1s in the wild will not be this slow.
The new ZR1 is a track car it has too much down force for 1/4 mile racing.

Vette didn’t have a chance against AWD. Also Don’t think the vette driver was up to the task.
Zr1 driver was using the paddles and hit the rev limiter. It kills momentum. For drag racing you just put it in drive and let the computer shift. It even says "performance shift" on the dash when it does it.

I am familiar with that track. I have done a few trackdays on my motorcycle there. Pbir is the name of the track. Why did they not do a comparison of lap times around there is the question. Those cars were designed for that type of stuff. So sad to see them only used for drag racing. What a waste of money. I could build one hell of a drag car for less than what they spent. Those cars are great used them for what the engineers built them for. Hell that is why they are so expensive. Anyone can build a car that goes fast in a straight line. Sorry just my thoughts. To each there own at the end of the day.

AWD is a big difference. Many people don't remember the GMC Cyclone back in the late 80's early 90's, six cylinder truck that ran 12's in the 1/4 mile from factory. ( it was quicker than the first Corvette ZR1, and both vehicles were introduced at about the same time )
The Syclone was quicker than the ZR1 to 60 but the ZR1 edged past the truck to the ¼mile.

It's an auto with traction control. How much can skill help? Mash the throttle and keep it straight. Unless it's spinning the wheels excessively or getting sideways there is not much the driver can do to help.

Erik Zakharyan It's called down force. The ZR1 is made purely for the circuit course, where cornering speed matters. It's no big deal on the drag strip.

Agree Erik, at speeds under 130mph downforce is not playing a huge roll. I can imagine the drag is quite high but it has to be the extra weight and slushbox which are slowing it up a lot. Still this zr1 puts down more WHP than this Lambo makes at the flywheel ffs.

Even na cars are slowe in hot weather but not so much as turbo or supercharged cars because those cars use much more air and you cant cool it so fast as the consume it.... Altitude is also big part if air is not enough rich with O2 boost is not so benificial as in lower altitude...

Were the 1/4 mile times given? The ZR1 1/4 looked way off. Either the ZR1 was running very slow, or the Huracan was running very fast. The times should give us an idea of which be the case. I may have missed the ET's.

The Corvette's engine sounded confused when upshifted almost like it was going to backfire or stall in the rolling 40-150 mph run. It was not performing the way an over $130,000 performance car with a race package would be expected to perform. There is something wrong with that particular car. If that's not it then likely an engine management firmware bug fix caused unexpected results causing the problem. GM likely already has a fix for it. The cars weigh basically the same, but the Corvette has 150 more horsepower and probably even a bigger advantage in torque. The Corvette's obvious disadvantages with the Huracan are it is loosing some horsepower in the automatic transmission torque converter and the transmission gearing itself is likely more power consuming than the Huracan's DCT. The Corvette's balanced 90° V8 crank has higher engine rotation assembly weight and initial to over come vs. the Huracan's flat V8 crank. These disadvantages shouldn't come close to taking away 150 horsepower advantage. These horsepower rating are probably SAE certified so they should be directly comparable.
Vengeance Racing dyno tests have shown that the ZR1 limits power for the first 500 miles. What was the mileage on this ZR1 at the time?

The corvette has an extra 140hp but also weighs a lot more and has a larger drag coefficient. The hurrican overall is smaller and has awd. But on the track it would be wa different story. Much more level playing field. The zr1 is by far the best car chevy has ever made. And the fact that is is in the same league as Europe’s finest is impressive alone

That is absolutely incorrect. The ECU does not limit power until 500 miles. Here is a video of the same car where he put it on the dyno before 500 miles and again after and got almost the same result.

Huracan is an absolute monster! Down 150hp and it pulls the ZR1 at high speed. It’s the combination of that high revving V10 and insanely fast transmission.
Not taking anything away from the ZR1. I’m not a Corvette guy, but the thing looks and sounds mean. It’s also an insanely fast car.
Not a lot that can beat a Huracan or R8 plus out of the box.

With the track options like the tall spoiler the ZR1 shines on a road course. The heat worked to the Huracans favor too. Under normal conditions it would have been closer but a ZR1 will slay it on a real race track with curves lol.

Even in a rolling start the zr1 stays up with the huracan plus it has a fucking massive spoiler. And the acceleration is obviously going to be favored by awd so the huracan will win. The corvette is some incredible engineering
If it didn’t have the track pack with all that aero that 40 roll would’ve been far more brutal, that package adds so much down force that it’s top end is hampered quite a bit
The main difference between the 2009 and 2019 ZR1 is the giant wing on the 2019, it makes the car corner better but it also creates drag and makes the car slower. If the 2019 didn't have the aero package, it would do better in a drag race.
The chassis, interior, body, suspension, and engine are also completely different but the wing is the main differentiator, lol?
