To your point on some good sturdy shoes...There was a story from a young Jewish girl in one of Germanys concentration camps. I think she was around 12 to 14 years old...but don't quote me on that. Anyway, her father was separated from her, but still within the same camp. Somehow he was able to get information that there was going to be a long forced march coming the next day. He was able to get word to his young daughter and told her to wear her sturdy shoes or boots the next day. She obeyed him...even though it was summer and the shoes he suggested seemed like overkill for a summer day. Many, many who started that march did NOT have decent footwear. Those people did not survive the march. But, the young girl who listened to her father's instructions did survive! She later attributed her survival to her sturdy shoes or boots that she wore for that forced march!
They seized all the shoes at the camps, along with other personal goods, clothing, even glasses. They assigned wooden shoes, shoes that did not fit, etc. They were wearing mismatched shoes. I've ready many many books on survivor stories.
@@SirenaSpades No doubt mostly this was true. But, there are always exceptions to every rule. Some years ago I watched a t.v. documentary that interviewed some jewish survivers of the Holocaust. This experience that I wrote above was directly from the mouth of one of these survivers on that show. I may not have remembered each detail absolutely as she spoke it. But, I definitely remember she said her father was able to get a message to her to wear her sturdy shoes or boots (whichever the case was), because her father had learned of the forced march coming the following morning.
Nail trimmers & files! Overgrown nails inside boots or shoes can be crippling; if the toenails are too long, it may cause you to curl your toes and risk twisting your ankle or falling. Long nails will also wear holes in the shoe top. Items to take care of blisters, especially that will fit inside your shoes or boots. No good boots or shoes can help if you forget to take care of your feet! Maybe also an ankle brace, for support in case of fatigue.

Boy Scouts of America Fieldbook- great info. They recommend for water purification: 2 drops of bleach per qt. of clear water, 4 drops per quarter if water is cloudy. They don't differentiate between different strength of bleaches. I would imagine they would choose the most popular brand sold as they would probably be the ones to do this. A brown glass stopper bottle is a great container and dispenser for bleach. Most drug store pharmacies usually carry these bottles. I do recommend both the Boy Scout Manual and the Boy Scout Fieldbook as reference materials, and if you have sons of Scout age, sign them up and let them teach you as they learn. Becoming an Eagle Scout will help you for many years after you have achieved this honor in business and other areas of your adult life.
If you live in the country, buy a topographical map for your area, too. Knowing elevations, rivers, streams, hills, etc. is very useful when walking on food in rugged terrain.
When i started prepping there were lots of lists to choose from. Looking them over i soon realized i had a bunch of the items around the house. What I didn’t have was a way to organize them. For instance we had an electric can opener but had mechanical ones in a drawer. We had camping supplies that included many things that could be used in our kit. Overall organizing the items left us with a short list of things to buy. We have grab and go containers ready for whatever challenges us. Good luck out there.
I love the grab and go container idea. I personally have one large grab and go container and go bags. The rest sits in my air controlled trailer, I run solar panels to the trailer and I keep my "back-up" guns sealed in vacuum sealed bags along with the freeze dried food. Happy prepping!
hit yard sales and garage sales this summer. Pick up tools, you can never have too many tools if things go south. Extra garden tools. You might have a whole group at your house and you need to put them to work in the garden. I just recently bought 10 large totes at a yard sale for $1 to $3 each and those things are expensive at walmart. As you know, totes are wonderful prep items. store food safe from mice, organize preps for grab n go, etc Stay safe people change is coming.

I'm also sorry about your fall & thankful you weren't hurt any worse that you were. It sure makes you think about something worse happening, doesn't it? I hope you recover quickly! God Bless!
Use comfrey salve on your arm + Arnica gel! I use Arnica gel on everything because it works (even as an antibacterial-it’s in a base of aloe vera gel) comfrey will help heal breaks, bone bruises, even older injuries that still bother.
I hope you have an uneventful recovery. Last night, I had to take my youngest daughter to an urgent care. She has otitis media, spontaneous eardrum rupture and otitis externa. She was miserable. They gave her the initial dose of antibiotic there and I picked up one of two prescriptions at our local pharmacy. The drops weren’t available and I had to pick that up at another pharmacy 20 minutes away. I can’t help to think the repercussions of not treating something like this quickly….and my husband is going into his 30th year as an ER RN. God help us all.
As air quality appears to be something that is increasingly becoming subject to sudden, deteriorating change, either by fires, industrial accidents, or nefarious acts, respirator/gas masks will be important items to have, I believe. Getting mine ASAP.
I always buy and wear Belleville USA made us military spec boots, I keep a pair in truck and wear a pair everyday, good boots are key! Cost $200+ but last long long time! I also recommend a good compact size pistol with great track record I prefer HK, but Glock or others is fine. A big thing for me is lighters, i buy packs or BICs all the time, baby wipes, can’t get enough, soap and tooth paste. Mora knifes, great budget knife. Have a good pack!
Soap and toothpaste were both in sale at my local Costco yesterday. Saved a total of 16.00 on a pack of 5 tubes of toothpaste and a pack of 16 bars of Dove soap. I'm starting my lighter collection
white vinegar goes along well with the chlorox......you can use it on several applications that Chlorix does not perform........to sanitize food items and food utensils for example.
Great job mentioning the P51 can opener!! Cheap boots/shoes should be stocked up on if you have enough money. They will eventually be very high priced. A cheap disinfectant and natural odorizer is very important. I have enjoyed seventh generation sprays for infections, disinfectants, de-stench/anti bad bio arenas such as arm pits and privates with their all natural sprays.
Many people have pools and pool chemicals. Calcium hypochorite (liquid chlorine) offers a higher percentage of free chlorine over bleach and may be laying around. One gallon will put a 10k gallon pool at 3.0ppm. The minimum free chorine to sanitize (protect against algae) for a swimming pool is 1.0ppm (part per million). Thats a lot of water that can be treated with one gallon of liquid chlorine. A side note, grocery store chlorine will not be as strong as your local pool store. Great video, thanks.
Another great video. Having spent a lot of time in work boots, I prefer them whenever I'm hiking or hunting. What I used for work boots were Marine Corp approved. They wear great, are lightweight, have good support and best of all were American made in Belleville, Illinois.
Keep photos of pets & children. You may need documents proving your pets vaccinations are up to date.I also like to keep extra pet food and meds in reserve.
When you talked about shoes and socks my mind went to moleskin. Bad feet are killer and will stop you. I have some of that in each persons pack due to walking. Nothing worse then having feet hurt so bad you cannot walk. I have little girly feet
Care of your feet so important and army teachers you that important fact. I use to volunteer for Glastonbury festival as a first responder. I remember a doctor telling me there that he thought he never see trench foot in his working life. Guess what he did at Glasto. ❤✌🏼✌🏼
I went a little bit overboard on shoes and boots. I have a collection that would make Imelda Marcos green with envy. I have leather boots, synthetic boots, cold weather boots, work boots (steel toed and plain), snow machine boots, hunting boots, dress shoes, tennis shoes, hiking shoes, etc., etc. I guess you can say I take the need for boots and shoes pretty serious.
I went nuts with the shoes and boots too. I am a little worried about it now, because I worry they might degrade. Several years ago, I had a pair of sandals I loved, so I bought two more identical pairs, which were all I could find, they were discontinued by then. Anyway by the time I wore out the initial pair, the soles on the other two new pair, were getting hard and coming apart from the rest of the shoe part. I tried gluing it on with shoe glue, but that made it really hard and inflexible. It didn't solve the hard and slippery sole problem. I have a massive stack of shoe and boot boxes stacked up from my wild buying adventure thinking it might be like WWII and now I am thinking this might happen.
The manual can opener section shows that you are a 'young' man as the p-51 opener you mentioned is what I, being older, thought of as a p-38 opener. Either one will work well in an emergency.
Incidentally I also agree it's nice to have different types of gloves and I do have several pairs but they do sell gloves that are not Tactical with the knuckle protection and sometimes they put hard pieces over the fingers as well. They do look cool and they're the kind of thing you want for shooting or playing paintball bar for handling weapons and. I use the thin stretchy ones that have a rubber coating on the palm and fingers because when you're picking up something that can be kind of slippery like a computer case or a laptop they help provide a better grip a little less fatigue. Those gloves can be bought in multipacks and they're light and . Inexpensive and then I have some leather or those rough bluish Gray colored gloves that you find at Harbor Freight or the Dollar Tree to protect my hands from rough lumber or if I'm a disposing of garbage or discarded material
The last couple years, I have been thinking a lot about "prepping". One thing I was thinking of doing is making a survival backpack. But as I thought about it more and more, I realized that 1 backpack isn't enough and it would take more like 10 backpacks worth of stuff just to survive comfortably for even a moderate length of time! Nevertheless, I am still making my survival backpack, containing my laptop computer, some android tablets, soap, OTC medicines, water filters, flashlights, a radio, a Geiger counter, and a small night vision device. Now I am trying to fit a small solar power system in that bag as well. The solar power system is of my own design and I must admit it is somewhat challenging to be able to charge a laptop from a small power system but I can do it. Unfortunately, I will only have enough room for 2 liters of water, and not enough room for significant food. What does everyone think of my idea?
Build a sled to pulling your stuff instead of carrying stuff. You Will hurt your back. I bought a cheap van and moved into it. It is holding over a year of food. Been prepping for four years now.. I suggest a non lethal rifle and pistol..
Top tip. You don’t need a laptop, you need WATER to survive . Learn bushcraft skills. Water, food, shelter and a fire starter. Can I ask why you think you need a laptop? ❤✌🏼🙏🏼
Might as well pack a router too..If SHTF the last thing you need is a laptop..a phone is fine and they have pocket solar panels at harbor freight for them...I'd worry more about what it takes to survive not what it takes to stay connected on Facebook...lol
Ok. I might be the only one saying this. But you my friend..... Is looking pretty good! I hope you are doing that cardio!! And keep up the good work. Super easy to just make 1 trip to the store...buy yourself a couple cases of water, can food, can veggies, tuna, can fruit and pet food. Batteries, candles and keep some cash in small bills too. The extra stuff like gloves and flashlights you can then gather 👍👍
I also use my empty Laundry soap jugs to fill with tap water and store. Heavy plastc 👍 Do not buy cheap gallons of water...they will break unless your transferring water to something durable

If a vet get your discharge papers registered at your county office. No matter what happens to them, they are on file with the county. I also got a battery operated can opener. I really dont like it as much as a manual can opener. But agree to have more than one.
Actually there is an established formula which is like 4- 8 drops a chlorine in a 1 gallon jug but if the water is not pure then you put 16. Now the concentration might vary but you can use that rule or you could put more or less drops but the main thing is to wait to see if the water clears and the water should barely smell like chlorine. So if you put some chlorine and you shake it up and you wait and the water is clear then you might want to put a couple of drops and then you put the cap on and you're done. So what I'm saying is you don't want to go overboard because you're just wasting your chlorine but I would just put a few drops into water that's fresh from the tap as insurance but whenever you're trying to purify water you keep adding and stirring until it is clear and then when the water is clean you can put just a couple of drops to insured stays pure and that's it. Nobody has to worry about measuring because because you are visually inspecting the water and then you're smelling it

@lisalee2885 and grow your own food learn how to can dehydrate and if one can afford it frezdry. I'm just getting tired of the redundancy and repatriation of the same things being told to us buy this get this do this over and over again. Radiation comes from particles, gases and liquids. The filter should filter out the particles but isn’t likely to remove the gas or liquid sources. At nuclear plants charcoal filters are used to capture some of the iodine released if fuel damage were to occur.

The p-51s from yesteryear were much better quality than the ones today. And high quality wool socks and the AMERICAN MADE Marine Corps boots (Belleville) I had were the best.
I've had a p-38 on my key ring for years and years. Won't leave home without it. Is a good screw driver or small pry bar or even a pick. You could even sharpen it on a rock in a pinch. Probably many other uses.

Firewood, lighters, candles, and flash lights.. being without electric is bad happen to us in TX when it got icey and snowed the grid was out for hours. So make sure you got a way to not be in the dark and cold if electric did go out. Also blankets is a must to keep warm as well. Care of your feet so important and army teachers you that important fact. I use to volunteer for Glastonbury festival as a first responder. I remember a doctor telling me there that he thought he never see trench foot in his working life. Guess what he did at Glasto. ❤✌🏼✌🏼
Rub your feet with Vaseline before you set out on hike. Husband was a marathon runner and swears by it to prevent blisters.
P 38 was what my father called it, then, so did I. I keep one on my key chain.
They are actually two different models of the same opener. P-51 is just bigger than the P-38.
P-38 opener is what I know it to be, too. Both my Dad and my husband were Army guys.
Thank you for sharing you knowledge!

Very useful info.
Thank you.
God bless you all.
Store a long handled can opener with your #10 cans of food in storage. The small ones will wreck your hands if you have to open a lot of the big cans!
Have a military can opener as a backup because our manual canopeners are breaking. 😊
Generally you won't open them all at the SAME TIME......... :/
I prep and watch a lot of videos but this is good stuffs don't forget the basics but essentials.
Looking forward to learning how to use the compass.
Me too. ❤🙏🏼✌🏼
Definitely need to keep matches or some kind of fire starter with ya at all times with a flash light!
Yea we have matches and lots of lighters
Outdoor solar lights are great inside too if need be
I’m a fire starter, flint and steal at hand. As a smoker I’ve always got packs of lighters, as good to barter with. ❤🙏🏼✌🏼
Thank you for what you. God bless you and your family
Protective equipment are great examples of items to have because if your injured or restricted in some way it limits your capabilities.
Ok. I might be the only one saying this. But you my friend..... Is looking pretty good! I hope you are doing that cardio!! And keep up the good work. Some of us don't have time to think about critical things to have when shtf thanks to you we can be on the go while listening to you about the necessary things. Thanks again and looking good my friend
The one thing I see most people missing extra Prescription glasses. Also the cheep reading glasses in the hard case ( a great barter item ) and necessary for ous old people. If you can't see how are you going to Survive or do work ?
Just posted this on someone’s else comment. I keep all my broken ones, got glasses repair kit and a few cheap non prescription ones too. ❤✌🏼🙏🏼

Good stuff. Thank you!
read the comments awesome ... the other thing on GPS is they can change the detail or accuracy so in actual you could be out 2 klm or more than a mile ...M and C you nailed ... learn to use it people
Ear plugs & eye cover 😉
Organize everything and make sure everyone in the family knows how to find things. In an emergency you don’t want to be hunting for something.
Your delivery is so chill that I find myself hopeful. Is that a good thing?
Super easy to just make 1 trip to the store...buy yourself a couple cases of water, can food, can veggies, tuna, can fruit and pet food. Batteries, candles and keep some cash in small bills too. The extra stuff like gloves and flashlights you can then gather 👍👍
Thank you for this list. You mentioned things that I hadn’t considered.
I also use my empty Laundry soap jugs to fill with tap water and store. Heavy plastc 👍 Do not buy cheap gallons of water...they will break unless your transferring water to something durable
You don’t drink that water do you? Or just use it for garden?
@@patriciaduncan6523 No. It's used for toilets if necessary. I'm in Southern California so EQuakes can bust water mains.
@@lisalee2885
I’m in SoCal too. San Diego. Maybe we’re neighbors. We can trade ideas. That’s a good idea using those empty soap jugs. I was looking into propane toilets, but they are expensive. Thanks for the tip!
@@patriciaduncan6523 I'm in Santa Clarita area. I also keep emergency bag with cash in small bills. Extra waste bags. I save the big plastic coffee containers because you can pee in them 🤣 I also have charcoal and cut wood incase we need to cook outside. Take care
I bought a foraging book and a Country Living Book that just sbout tells you how to do everything. I know a good medical book would be good to have just like i used Dr. Spock when i had babies. My friend gave mr her nursing text book and that came in real handy.
If a vet get your discharge papers registered at your county office. No matter what happens to them, they are on file with the county.
I also got a battery operated can opener. I really dont like it as much as a manual can opener. But agree to have more than one.
I still have my old Girl Scout knife with the can opener, awl and blade from the early ‘60’s. I have it in a belt case with a sharpener.
Nobody has to worry about measuring because because you are visually inspecting the water and then you're smelling it
Every prepper video I've seen mentions canned food. But I've only seen a few that remind you to remember a can opener.

I got every other youtuber telling me buy things now but I'm good I've been prepping sense the 80s...
I hear you. They say buy these food kits YUCK! I've been prepping for years...buy what you will eat in cans.
@lisalee2885 and grow your own food learn how to can dehydrate and if one can afford it frezdry. I'm just getting tired of the redundancy and repatriation of the same things being told to us buy this get this do this over and over again. But to each their own this is a free country well at least for now anyway. I've just stopped watching videos that has poticuler titles on them now. And I've talked to many msny people and they say they are doing the same thing. To much of one thing over and over can be a turn off... and no disrespect to this creator...
Does the backpacking version Katadyn Hiker Pro Transparent Water Filter Pump also filter out radiation???
Radiation comes from particles, gases and liquids. The filter should filter out the particles but isn’t likely to remove the gas or liquid sources. At nuclear plants charcoal filters are used to capture some of the iodine released if fuel damage were to occur.
ALL essential items to have. 3 is one - one is none.

Buy a flint stone. Matches, and a "blue flame" lighter. Also a set of neon markers, and nylon rope.
Candle storage add lighters & matches to buckets, also label totes, buckets.
Scan Documents onto a Zip/ Thumb Drive or SD card too.
Merrill has the most comfortable tennis shoes and hiking shoes. They are expensive but they last forever.

I'd like to add to your eyeware protection list. EYE WASH. not the kind for contacts, so important if you have accidentally got anything in there...Thanks
You can also can your own sterile saline solution and sterile water for this and other injuries.
Water works fine. This was always used until people started spending frivolously.
Can you also explain the different type of compasses so we know which one to get please? Thank you for all that you share with us and teach us!
Go to a camping goods store, they have great compasses!
Can I use bleach tablets that are made for laundry for purification of water.
The p-51s from yesteryear were much better quality than the ones today. And high quality wool socks and the AMERICAN MADE Marine Corps boots (Belleville) I had were the best.
Fire starter kits and first aid small pack + or - tourniquet and elastic bandage.
All great ideas tyvm
You can also open a can simply with a sharp knife, but you gotta be careful.
A whistle in case you need to call for help
Looking forward to your map video
Chemical splash goggles as well as particle goggles
Good stuff! Thanks! Need to update my local maps
Boots are important! Good fit and break in properly
Where can I get the gloves.and compass
QUESTION: YOU MENTIONED DOCUMENTS IN FIRE BAG, ARE THEY COPIES OF DOCUMENTS OR THE ACTUAL DOCUMENTS?
I find bleach tablets store better as they don’t lose their efficiency or degrade over time. Unscented of course.
I've had a p-38 on my key ring for years and years. Won't leave home without it. Is a good screw driver or small pry bar or even a pick. You could even sharpen it on a rock in a pinch. Probably many other uses.
Got some Milton (UK) baby bottles sanitiser tablets in individual packets, great for on the go. ❤✌🏼🙏🏼
@@hangfirejp1197 what’s a p-38? ❤✌🏼🙏🏼
@@curlysue3620 It's a small u.s. military can opener that you carry on your key ring.
Where did you find the unscented bleach tablets?
Swing-a-way can openers are the BEST.
Add a long handled Swingline for your #10 cans, if you store those. I have a lot of #10 cans of dehydrated and freeze dried foods. Opening several of these cans will wear you (and your regular) can opener out quickly.
@@ceecee9155 WOW! Thanks. I didn't know that.
Swing a way are the utmost best. I was going to say, but you beat me to it.
This disinfecting water has me so confused. I’ve seen so many people recommending different things. I have a tbi so sometimes it’s difficult for me to understand what is correct for water purification amounts. Do you have a pdf I could go too or point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance! Something we don't consider is a fire coming through your Neighborhood. This happened to a friend in Alpie Az. He had to evacuate without his food. It was all lost in the fire. Any thoughts on this?
5 gallon buckets with food, meds, etc. Sitting at the ready, 1 grabs buckets puts in vehicle other gets papers, then helps with buckets.
I have a fireproof document holder. It didn't help when I went into a flooded ditch.
Regarding Bleach. Bleach tablets are a good choice. Available in bulk and scents
Firewood, lighters, candles, and flash lights.. being without electric is bad happen to us in TX when it got icey and snowed the grid was out for hours. So make sure you got a way to not be in the dark and cold if electric did go out. Also blankets is a must to keep warm as well. If you got kids that are gamers like my kid make sure you got board games that they like or good reading books they enjoy to keep their spirits up until the power grid comes back. But for years now with EMP he would be so depressed. So bug out bag with lots of snacks, toys, gadgets, playing cards, comic books or chapter books and small handheld games that use batteries like a gameboy, or other handheld games or walkmans 😅 takes me back to elementary school days on the bus. Lmao. But really useful information esp. about the bleach percentages I was not aware they changed.
Nice new recording area lol! ❤
Soap and shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant / anti-perspirant, razors, hair clippers
Wool socks, thin cotton socks, sunscreen, pocket knife, lighter, solar phone charger, sun hat with chin strap, life straw and cup
My husband and ex marathon runner only used polyester socks when running. Cotton absorbed the sweat and caused blisters and discomfort.
Add whistles and socks
A Bible. To remind you, no matter what you do, you’re not in control of the outcome. You have an inner compass that’s a lot more powerful than that thing you showed, but if you don’t prep yourself by developing that, everything else you do is nonsense.
