What is Engine Morse Test ?

Engine Morse test is utilized to estimate the friction power of the multi-cylinder engine. A part of the Indicated power is expensed to overcome the friction between the piston and cylinder wall, that power is known as Friction power. Engine morse test is an effective and more accurate method to measure FP. In the Engine morse test, the engine is run at a constant speed and then one by one cylinder is cut out by short-circuiting spark plug in SI engine or by restricting the fuel supply to the injectors in CI engine. The engine morse test can be performed at laboratory with engine test rig equipped with a dynamometer.
