Thank you for your video.
In reality, however, native speakers of British English usually seem to pronounce the words 'air', 'bear', 'square', 'care', 'fair', 'pair', etc with the long monophthong /ɛ:/ instead of the diphthong /eə/. And you are no exception in this video, either.
Considering the reason for learning English is not just for the communication with native speakers of English, we will frequently face the situation when English is spoken as a lingua franca between non-native speakers of English. Therefore, even thogh the diphthong /eə/ is becoming old-fashioned with time, I am confused as to which of the two pronunciations to choose as an EFL learner; /ɛ:/ to keep my pronunciation up to date and try to sound more like native speakers of British English? or /eə/ to make myself more understandable to non-native speakers?
For me, pronuncing the word 'care' as /keə/ will sound neutral between the General American pronunciation /ker/ and the contemporary British pronunciation /kɛ:/.
Which one is recommended to us EFL learners of (esp. British English) - the traditional RP /eə/ or the contemporay British pronunciation /ɛ:/?
I would advise the contemporary British version
