The bike sounds great, but what's even cooler is having your son there helping you. Those are things he will remember the most in life ,the time he helped his pops work on his motorcycle . GOD bless and stay safe out there.
Great video! Great step-by-step instructions. I did the same to my virago and it looks and sounds awesome. Better than dropping 3 or4 hundred dollars for replacement ore after-market pipes.
This was super helpful. I have an 89 virago 750. It’s super quiet. I was going to get I new slip on but I think I’ll use your trick instead first to see if I can get it to the sound I want.
Congrats, very nicely done video! Good results too, looks fantastic. Yes, those hole saws are not meant to go fast as they don't have fancy hard teeth. Go slow and use a lot of spray cutting fluid, which is preferrable to oil. Spray about every 5 seconds.
Just got a Virago xv 1100. 1st owner took the internal pipes out & just riveted a chrome plate on.. pipe exit ends. Sounds Ok, not too loud, & I'm sure its louder than the stock OEM design.
Hi, please tell me do you have change the idle jet after make it that? The sound is great because is not a lot but it´s more than the original exhaust, don´t it?
Great vid. I'm gonna do this, I just got a 92 virago 1100. I'm just confused on how the back plate you drilled a hole in for the plumbing piece stays inside the pipe. The rivets are all still intact on my bike so I'll have to drill them out, but I don't see how those cupped plates actually stay in the pipe?
On my STOCK '03 V-Star 1100 Classic, I installed a K&N reusable air filter element (flows more air), and removed the AIR injection system (to eliminate the backfire on deceleration). At this point, the stock carb jets were TOO LEAN. The stock carbs have different size jets for each cylinder. A #110 jet is used in the carb for the (#1 rear cylinder) and a larger #112.5 jet in the carb for the (#2 front cylinder). I re-jetted the carbs by putting the larger main jet from the #2 carb (front cylinder) into the #1 carb (rear cylinder), and buying a size larger jet #115 and installing it in the #1 carb, (front cylinder). This modification gave increased performance and I believe is ideal for these modifications. IF THE MUFFLERS ARE MODIFIED (drilling out and removing the baffles), OR installing aftermarket slip-on mufflers, I'm sure the carb main jets will need to be increased by at least one jet size. (You can try putting a larger #115 jet in the #1 carb (rear cylinder) and a #117.5 jet for the #2 carb (front cylinder). Making intake and exhaust mods which increase air flow without re-jetting the carbs can cause the engine to run excessively LEAN and cause the pipes to turn blue and even cause overheating and internal engine damage.
Got through with the 38mm holesaw but the pipe wont budge, like it was part of the champer all the way back there at the end of the muffler. any ideas? 96 xv 750
Do you have any idea where the luggage rack came from? I have a 95 XV1100, and I'm looking for a rack just like that one. Bike sounds pretty good for the mod you did to it.
I did something like this to my virago but stopped after I got the baffles out. Now I make people cover their ears when I crack on it but its still fairly quiet when just cruising
I just replaced my exhaust on MY 97 and it was not cheap by any standard. New this is an 1100 dollar exhaust system and used is only a little bit better. Having said this, why would you want to destroy an exorbitantly expensive OEM component when you could get a replacement aftermarket system instead and and maintain the original?
1. You don't have money to go buy a set of pipes. 2. You don't have money the spare momey yo go buy a used set of pipes. 3. You don't have money... This is getting rhetorical because it's common sense. If you have the money to throw at it then you're likely going to end up buying a early toblate 2000's Vstar instead. I legitimately see 3 to 5 Yamaha Viragos going for sale online locally for $500 to $1000 at a yime because of dead batteries and need of a carb rebuild all the time, why would i spend $1100 on pipes when i can buy a parts bike for half???
Where's the lube man? Lol. Burn her up. Looks good. Sounds better. That furnace cement isn't Goin to last long. Try Jb weld next time it works good for that job. Check the plugs and rejet it
Spin the hole saw WAAAAY slower. Use some oil. please dont ride that thing on the road with glued in drain pipes. That is a hack job and irresponsible to risk shooting them out on the highway. use a fkn welder.

Best exhaust gutting vid I've ever watched! Nice, NEAT result and it sounds great!
Great video! Great step-by-step instructions. I did the same to my virago and it looks and sounds awesome. Better than dropping 3 or4 hundred dollars for replacement ore after-market pipes.
+Mickey nicole does this improve the sound a lot? cant tell on the vid.
Nice mod. Pretty easy once you get the insert out. Really brings up the bass on my ride. Thanks for that!
Just did this to my 86. Love the sound. Thanks. Great video.

Yours was the most helpful video I watched and I watched a lot. Vstar 1100 successfully louder 🥰
the sound is better now, more agressives
Congrats, very nicely done video! Good results too, looks fantastic.

I sure miss my Virago, wish I still had it.

One of the best move I made on my stock pipes was to just remove 1 baffle and the sound is fantastic, Loud but sweet.
good job and video. nice!
Thanks for the video. Ending up taking mine out. Sounds better.
wow nice job thank you,,,,you made it look so simple
looks a lot better good job sounds good so yup
This also works on the Yamaha VStar 1100 Custom and Classics (but less after-drill work).
Great vid brother.

slick job....you are no plumber but you nailed the tailpiece!
Cool fix! SO the cement is what is holding that back in?
Nice job.
Your kid is awesome. I can't get my daughter to go within 100 feet of my bike.

doesnt the catalytic converter keep that from happening ?
__ Does not have a catalytic converter.
Russell Hohl Mine does :/ taking them out right now drill is charging -_-
Does sound better. Did you end up having to rejet the carbs?
Good job
does this work for the 125 as well?
Yeah, that actually sounds a lot better gonna have to remember this. Nothing wrong with doing a Mc Guyver when you need to.
Does it affect the fuel comsuption ?
What highway pegs are mounted to your bike?
The inserts staying in Is my only concern..why not put the plates back on with rivets to hold the insert more securely? Just my opinion
I did not rejet....Bike runs perfect.
If I do this to my v star do I still have to reject the carbs?
Great job!
Got through with the 38mm holesaw but the pipe wont budge, like it was part of the champer all the way back there at the end of the muffler. any ideas? 96 xv 750
Same for me
Nice!!
on 1.00, you save this tool by using some drops of oil on it. like you use to do by drilling in steel.
will this mod work on a 2011 vstar 650 custom
Little change at idle is all I could really tell. I know there is a lot left in those mufflers if you truley want to "gut" them.
Do you have any idea where the luggage rack came from? I have a 95 XV1100, and I'm looking for a rack just like that one.
Bike sounds pretty good for the mod you did to it.
you want one; message me.
I tried to message you, but it wouldn't let me. I would like to purchase a luggage rack from you.
I like it. Did the thumbs down leave comments?
blackdogleg No comments have been erased
Hey i jus baught this bike today looks just like yours but the paint and your mods. But they said mine was a 750 did they make 2 of the same year
OMWTFYB they made XV125, XV250, XV400, XV500, XV535, XV700, XV750, XV920R, XV1000, XV1100
those inserts look like velocity stacks!
Will this effect fuel air mix ratio, will it cause bike running lean
Most likely
No oil? Seems like it would cut easier...
I did something like this to my virago but stopped after I got the baffles out. Now I make people cover their ears when I crack on it but its still fairly quiet when just cruising
after you drilled the baffles out and it stopped working, how did you end up fixing it?
@@iangroover1188 He stopped not the bike
sounds great
what about the performance, i read that if you open/change exhaust system your hp drops
You need to re-jet for optimal performance, That´s because you cange the air flow
NGSVALENCIA what jets do i need to get ?
Well I think adjusting the carbs with the stock jets will make it
nice change from 0:25 to 8:21

Used stock exhaust systems for this bike are like 80 bucks if you mess it up so go for it instead of the much more expensive after market ones
@@TylerGibsonSIRdipsALOT69 $350 to $500 I’ve seen around here, which is insane
Will this work on a 125 Yamaha Virago AJ?
+STARK DRONE lol thats bullshit?
I did this to mine 125 and ot sound badass :D
Of course, you adjusted the carb...gutting the exhaust would change your air/fuel ratio.
to?
Where's the lube man? Lol. Burn her up. Looks good. Sounds better. That furnace cement isn't Goin to last long. Try Jb weld next time it works good for that job. Check the plugs and rejet it
compare :22 and 8:20
maby hardend steel saw's ; )

Lacro merkado bellissa niro habita
I am his son
Oh how time flies
no brain no pain
Nah man, you need to cho them. Itll sound like a harley.
sounds exactly the same... maybe use a real exhaust and not a rigged pipe from the plumbing department
i sound about the same idleing but not revving
Can I just drill um out? And leave be or do I gotta do all that extra shit? I dont care about it bein pretty
The stock exhaust is so fake it’s sad, way better look but the pipes are unionized
RIP headphone users.
