It's ridiculous I think that music.. The most complexed and yet simplest thing could actually heal and soothe a person to happiness. Her music is so effortless and yet isn't remotely lacking. It makes me sad that she is not as famous or as recognised as she should be, because quite frankly I believe if she was the world would be such a better place. Everyone should experience Agnes Obel and her healing voice and lyrics.

Monfort I imagine it differently :D I'm in a forest wearing a coat and running and hiding behind trees, I'm younger than I am now a little girl of 10 or 12 years old with that long brown hair I used to have... Apparently I'm playing with someone but I can't tell who is it, maybe myself in the age I am now.. Can't tell if it's fall or winter maybe it's that period of time when fall is becoming winter.. The little girl seems happy and I'm following her to an old house made of wood ... Looks like a horror movie but I'm not scared I'm completely peaceful all I need is a fireplace and a cup of hot tea. The piano is playing by its own... Seems like this song is sang by the wind, the leafless trees and the house made of wood where I am now...
I got goosebumps while reading this Sara Alaoui this song is so beautiful. It moves us. It so amazing that it takes us to wonderful places.. my favorite part is when the piano plays on its own..and yeah the fireplace is perfect 😍

One of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a long while
to me, this song is about overcoming depression, about waking from a period of grief, about realising how much more there is to life and how sometimes you just have to go from day to day, trying new things and not giving your bad thoughts so much power.
I can't quite put my finger on it.. I think it's a mix of the melody and the lyrics that give me that impression.
anyway, I believe that "we need you wide awake" and "drink a toast to the sun" would make great tattoo lines.
+PeepsILoveEllie this is funny because i was listening to this song a lot in 2008/9 when i was in a really bad phase including depression, self harming, etc and now listening to it again it kind of feels like this really helped me overcoming all of this shit

I love her voice. It's so present just like she is right next to you. Also love the production of the album. Her voice isn't over produced like in so many other crap pop songs. This is raw and pure. Many other singers sound to percect on their albums and it's just boring. The best musicians are the ones who can play good music without production at all.
Heard this while watching The Velvet Queen (La Panthere des Neiges, highly recommended watch), I didn't recognize her at first - what a terrific musician
