Brainstory, Torii Wolf, BadBadNotGood, Nick Hakim, Bobby Orozo & Cold Diamond, Leon Bridges, Alabama Shakes etc.. quality music is out there its just the masses aren't listening.
The whole era/genre of sophisti-pop that briefly graced the UK in the mid 80s is a greatly under appreciated time in music. EBTG, Style Council, Prefab Sprout, Aztec Camera and those couple years of Joe Jackson’s Steppin Out era are my favorite bands of that time. There was some top notch songwriting going on, with post punk stalwarts, whom all of a sudden, weren’t afraid to be catchy and well-produced.
Sophisti-pop is exactly what i love the most from the 80s and 90s pop music. When i say i like 80s pop songs people think about the generic jumpy songs that we all heard, but not songs like this one, the instrumentation and melody is just superb, it's stuff that is very hard to find nowadays. Thanks for giving me that term, it describes exactly what i like.

It was on here like 8 to 9 years ago cause I watched it and commented on it. Had over a million views and it got yanked by youtube. All of SoS's video's have much lower views since they constantly get taken down by youtube or whatever.

80s was THE decade. Glad I lived my formative years, in the 1980s! If I was to enter a contest, and you could only use one word to describe certain decades, the word I would use for the 80s would have to be FUN. 80s was the fun decade. Now, everything is so serious.
I'm 31 now. I remember hearing my mom listen to this group and this song when I was kid growing up. Back then I didn't care much for it. But just last week I inside of a CVS store. As I started shopping I heard this song begin to start up. I started thinking to myself, "this song sounds pretty cool starting up." I didn't even realize what song it was and who it was until the full song came into full play and I thought, "oh, this is that song that my mommy used to listen to. This is that group swingout sister." And ever since last week, I've been listening to swingout sister and resisting some other smash hits that they made that I didn't even realize were their songs until now. This song and the album it's from, always reminds me of the care free days of my youth. There songs and style at the time, was a breath of fresh air to the pop world...and that's saying something from someone who is a die hard Prog fan. There jazz undertones accompanied with fantastic melodies left me with an everlasting impression. Swing out Sister has to be one of the world's most underrated bands and song writer's.
I’ll never understand how some awesome songs don’t chart very well. I listened to the radio all through the 80’s and this is better than many many other songs that went Top 10.

I'm 31 now. I remember hearing my mom listen to this group and this song when I was kid growing up. Back then I didn't care much for it.
But just last week I inside of a CVS store. As I started shopping I heard this song begin to start up. I started thinking to myself, "this song sounds pretty cool starting up." I didn't even realize what song it was and who it was until the full song came into full play and I thought, "oh, this is that song that my mommy used to listen to. This is that group swingout sister."
And ever since last week, I've been listening to swingout sister and resisting some other smash hits that they made that I didn't even realize were their songs until now. Songs like, "am I the same girl" and "breakout".

I want to go back to the Swing Out Sister years of the late 80’s. No PCs, smartphones, internet, Facebook, social media, etc.. Yet IMHO people were more unified and happy! . Actually, if the world reverted back what would we really miss?

The amount of music one could listen to then was VERY limited to what was played on the airwaves and on tv or what records or cassettes one could buy (which was also limited and dependent on what the local store would stock, and S-O-S albums/singles would not have been available in my area).

Sittin' at Mac and Don's last night and this came on their PA system....Wow...The beats...The melody...took me back to Germany when was in the military...Got the same sound like Sade'.....Smooth and easy....Makes you wanna crank it up while you "motorin' down the AutoBahn at 160 kph....No Politzei in sight.....No speed limits....Life was delissimo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This song and the album it's from, always reminds me of the care free days of my youth. There songs and style at the time, was a breath of fresh air to the pop world...and that's saying something from someone who is a die hard Prog fan. There jazz undertones accompanied with fantastic melodies left me with an everlasting impression. Swing out Sister has to be one of the world's most underrated bands and song writer's.

To me, Swingout Sister defines the late 80s. I wonder why nobody. Sings their songs at karaoke bars nowadays? Twilight World represents a bygone era of secure and care-free international travel. How appealing. I love her velvety voice. It IS better to travel.
