Here I am again, Hollow with his binaural mic doing roleplays, sometimes some anime stuff. As a creator I try to avoid the typical boyfriend roleplays and instead focus on fantasy stories revolving around personal attention. Yep he's definitely taken the protective fatherly roll in the situation, Vione as well. XD
Now that I think about it I see those two as more of a parent type figure to the listener (us).
At first I thought about shipping those two with the listener but then I slowly realize that
they were just taking care of us and protecting us and loving us since the day they found
us like good parents should. It's like both Vione and Lozo have adopted us into they're
lives and cared about us and protected us when Jackal couldn't. And now they're both
sad because their little baby is leaving the nest and going out into the world with the
love of their life at their side. Especially Lozo I can honestly see him crying his eyes out
as he watches the listener and Jackal leave and Vione has to sit there and comfort him. 😂
Yeah I'm definitely gonna miss these two goof heads they really cared about us and protected us when they sure as hell could've easily just abandoned us in that hot desert all alone. 😭😭😭

Okay but this is like... A masterpiece?? Like from start to finish this series had me hooked and to be able to grow with these characters and see different sides to each of them and now seeing it come to an end? It's almost like the end of an era. Am I hoping that there's maybe a spinoff or a season 2 sorta thing in time? Y e s, but I can say with full confidence that these characters became a family to me and just aaaaa I miss it already, thank you for this actual masterpiece

Vione was often the one to comfort the young mage when they had nightmares about their ordeal with Thalvich. He then realized just how much Jackal really meant to the young mage when they constantly murmured Jackal’s name in their sleep.

That's what I thought! He can't walk without his knees, can't use blood magic without his heart/bone marrow and can't see me without his eyes. Send his heart to the Empire, feed the marrow to hyenas and throw the eyes off a boat. That should take him a human lifetime to find. Maybe get his hands as well so he can't open the boxes the others are in.

THE BOIS!!!!!!! JACKAL, GRÖMPI BÖNNI, AND FUN FRIEND CAT!!!!!! THE PROPHECY HAS BEEN FULFILLED 😱💕
She sat as still as possible, letting Lozo bandage her wounds as he chastised her for her stupid fall. Hey, Vionne offered and she wanted to feel tall! It wasnt her fault she had no balance. Vionne stood by, ever watchful, messing with Lozo a little, and justbas it seemed the day couldn't get better, in walked a familiar face. A face she hadn't seen in months. One she...feared she'd never see again. But there he stood, bandages covering his arms and that tricky grin covering his face. Jackal. Vionne and Lozo seemed overjoyed he was back, Lozo's quickly turning to a weird caring/anger combo. But her, she didn't know how to feel. Thousands of different emotions swirled inside her: anger, joy, sorrow, giddiness, betrayal, and so many more, but overall, she was just happy to see him alive. As he made hus peace with the angry Lozo, his eyes fell on her and he asked for a moment alone. Vionne nodded but Lozo was in a fit at the thought, standing between her and Jackal, as if defending her. This was the most compassion he'd ever openly shown her. She looked between the pair and half wished hed stay there, defending her from the impact of all her pent up emotions, but at the same time she couldn't wait for him to go. Eventually, Vionne half walked, half pulled Lozo out for tea, leaving her and Jackal alone. They stared at eachother for a few seconds before throwing her arms around him. He stumbled back but by no means was upset that she was hugging him. He hugged back before she had to let go, lest she crush his ribs, and sat her down for a story. His story. She listened enraptured by his daring and cunning plan to run the...creature into a sandstorm and how well it had worked, even laughing a bit at his joke. Not that she could argue, he was a handsome animal in his way. But that wasnt the end, jer heart dropped as he told her of how the bloodmage's body had begun to re-piece itself, slowly but certainly. She let out a shaky breath and found herself pulling Jackal's cloack tighter around herself. Then...then that was it. There was no escape for her, for them! Jackal took her hands and confirmed her suspicions, but surprised her. There was an escape. And they were going to take it together. She stared back confusedly as he went on to talk of how he'd gotten back, making one last stop to get her something. She opened his bag and let out a shocked sigh of joy. Her books, all of them, each in perfect condition. He...he went back...in such a state? He waved her complaint and continued, saying there was one more thing. She obliged him and nodded as he spoke of the night they had spent on the sands, talking, stargazing, and just enjoying the calm. He never believed in love and things like that, at least not before. The realization dawning on her slowly as he continued. Did...did he...he paused in his attempt at an explanation and took at deep breath and leaned forward, locking his lips with her own. She sat frozen for only a moment before throwing her arms around him and returning his kiss. She'd waited long enough for this. So it was settled, they were running away. They both looked at the tent flap and rolled their eyes as Vionne and Lozo walked back in, Lozo blabbering his way through some sort of blame game before Vionne shut him down. They knew, as they had listened to it all, and were in no way happy about it, trying to convince them there were better ideas than the one they had come up with. But deep down, they all knew this was the only option they had. She gave them both one last hug, wiping the tears from her eyes. "Until we meet again." She said. "May the sands keep you well."
Okay not only did the video make me wheep but this made me Disney princess weep! I just wanted to throw my self on a random object and weep.

Saaaaame. I was having a horrible day, and then Hollow uploads an audio with my favorite character. I was on the brink of crying the entire time.
Jackal is my personal favorite character... Mostly because his accent is really cute. And also because he’s such a good boi.
This is amazing! My take on this is bittersweet. Jackel has returned and finally confessed his love to the listener but the insane blood mage is still alive and the empire is still unstable. This means Jackel and the listener have to be on the run from then blood mage and they can't go to the greenland. While we get a happy reunion, we still have problems that are still unsolved, leaving a more open ending. I really enjoyed this series and I give you a round of applause for it.
Also the confession and the kiss got me screaming at 1 AM PLS
I'm crying so hard.
It's a wonderful and natural ending for this story but by the gods, If I could, I'd make this story last forever. I'm sure I'll re-listen through this entire master piece many more times, especially now that it's finished.
To be honest, Jackal sky rocketed through my "Hollow Boys Tier list" and is now at first place.
Now to the completely emotional bit

I cannot stress how much I loved this entire adventure.
I get immersed and emotionally engaged very quickly but I don't remember ever having consumed a piece of media with so much engagement and love.
The uncertainty and fright of the first part, not knowing what was to come and if my teacher would survive, what the journey may bring.
Scared of someone finding out my identity, preferring to keep to myself because of it but having no other choice but to trust a stranger to bring me through the dessert.
Said stranger finds interest in my books and wants them as payment, the only thing I have left of my former teacher.
Along the journey through the dessert, I find myself enjoying the mercenary's company. Jackal admits wanting to learn magic. I can see a certain spark in his eyes, there's more to him than the confident facade he showed.
The day we leave the dessert and I have to part from Jackal is a sad one. Even though I try not to show, I wish this wasn't the end.
Asking around for the sanctuary, the place where I am to find my new teacher, I come upon a small shop. The man's positive first impression was nothing but a lie however. A blood mage keeping me prisoner and stealing my teacher's books. Just what will he do to me? Use me for experiments? Or torture me just for his entertainment?
He keeps talking nonsense about us having met before, us having been lovers. I don't understand anything of what he is saying, all I know is I need to get out of here. Why would my teacher send me here? Was I wrong? Perhaps he was wrong? Or did he know who he was sending me to?
The days became a blur as I kept swaying In and out of consciousness. How long had I been down here in his cellar? I prayed while I was down there, something I thought I would never do. I prayed to every deity I knew, pleading for help, for someone to get me out of here or for the sweet release...
My prayers must have been answered. Jackal was here. Everything happened so quick, at first I didn't believe my eyes when I saw him but he fought the blood mage. I was so scared for his live but he bested the mage, making him sleep for a while. Though that wasn't long enough.
We ran as quick and as far as we could, my weak legs barely being able to carry me anymore. We found an empty tent, far enough away for us to feel safe, for now.
I was devastated, the trauma of the past few days, my exhaustion, my wounds. Jackal cared for me, looked after my injuries, made sure I was comfortable, calmed me. I fell asleep in his embrace, feeling safe for once.
But the next day he was gone. I met two of Jackal's friends, Lozo and Vione. They were strange at first but they both really seemed to care about me. No one knew were Jackal went and I was worried sick. I would often cry myself to sleep, not only because of Jackal but because of the memories of the blood mage flooding back into the forefront of my mind.
But all that doesn't matter now, not even the books that I have gotten back. Jackal is here and he will never leave my side again.
Fuck I got carried away again.

Too many thoughts, not enough brain power to express just how much I've fallen in love with this brilliant story. The ending left me with more tears than I expected, but I enjoyed it anyways. It truly felt like I would leave my home for an adventure with that mischievously reckless mercenary. I loved every second of this series, and I hope that Jackal manages to stay out of trouble for a while. Sorry for the rant, but it's given me so many feels right now. 😭👏🏼👏🏼

PLOT TWIST:
That dust storm caused both Jackal and that blood mage to bleed. He's using Jackal as a puppet either to be close to you by proxy, or to emotionally betray you in the worst way possible so you come crawling back.
Awww, I'm going to miss Jackal, but this seemed like a fitting way to end his story.
Him: how many times do I have to fix you up?
Me: until I stop being dumb I guess.

I just got a break at work so I finally get to listen to this and I genuinely had to stop myself from crying when Jackal came in holy shit I missed this mercenary-

Thank you Hollow and Ars, this was amazing, and I couldn’t think of a better finale to this story! As others did, I really missed Jackal and the desert bois, so it was fun to see them all together. This was emotional and I was drawn in like I was catching the season finale to one of my favorite shows. ❤️❤️
When I tell you I SCREECHED when I saw this I friggin SCREECHED! Dawg I missed Jackal so much tbhhhh! I'm so glad to see that he's back and ok!

You know what, I'm always worried about writing friggin essays up in here, but whatever.
This was SUCH a good telling, and I'm so sad to see it end!!! But it couldn't have ended in a more heartwarming way. To have Jackal return, having done his very best, and for the sand storm element of the story to come full circle! That was a GREAT touch! Was it always planned?
The fierce protectiveness from Lozo made my heart bleed, and Vione made the perfect little grounding rod for everyone in the storm of emotions. These two were a beautiful addition to this journey, and I'm so glad Ars brought them to life. And, on a similar note of the characters:
Hollow, your VOICE!! It's crazy how each character remained so unique and independent in one audio! Absolutely stunning! Thank you for all the effort you put into this final piece of Jackal's installment. Truly. You've outdone yourself here!!
I know, I know I've already hit such a high word count, please ignore my blatherings, but-
Thalvich.
Okay.
I want to thank you for creating such a brilliant antagonist.
From his beginnings as a side-note in Devilish Warlock, he's not been a good guy. But between then and here, I feel like he's gone through some serious hell that's ripped into his mind. When you see most villains with a yandere edge, they're just obsessed, but you've got to hand it to Thalvich. He's developed his obsession with the listener for a reason. He's watched them "turn to dust" more than a fair share of times from what I recall. And that speaks volumes for his actions.
Were those actions justifiable? Absolutely not, and that's what makes him our antagonist. But were they heart-wrenching? Completely. Especially so if the listener actually shared a bond with him at some point. And while he continues to live and breathe, the "wheel still turns".
I only hope that he's not sentient in that desert, slowly piecing back together.

I squealed so hard and was about to cry but my brother and sister were already giving me weird looks. Thank you for your work again. You have no idea how happy your videos make us.

I was in the middle of watching another vid when I spotted this in my Recommended. Needless to say, I stopped everything, had a mini heart attack, and scrambled to watch/listen. Every second was pure nourishment to my soul. Seeing Lozo's tender doting side was just heart-melting. Vione's unconditional warmth made me wish he was my dad tbh. Oh and there's Jackal too. JUST TAKE MY HEART. TAKE IT, YOU FIEND.
But yeah, you are amazing beyond words, Hollow. Thank you for bringing us back our beloved Jackal. I'll miss him dearly but we have the whole story to re-live; so that's fair. I'll just fantasize the remainder of our journey as I do with all my fictional babs. QwQ

Gosh I was so paranoid over the whole audio that it was all a trick by the mage 🥺 -I'm still but sshhh, let us enjoy the moment of this happy end-
One last remake: I think to recall that the Listener was supposed to find someone in the sandy lands, a sanctuary to hide there. And I'm pretty sure our mentor didn't mean the Blood Mage by that.
I do wonder now if whoever they were meant to meet is confused now on where the listener is 🤔

Considering that our mentor told us not to trust the mage we were supposed to meet (and said, after we left, that he was sorry for the trouble we were about to go through) I think he did mean Thalvich. Magic seems to be rare in the Crimson Sands, so the odds of running into a second mage by coincidence doesn't seem likely. The question then is... did he know that Thalvich would go yandere over the one apprentice he decided to send, or did he assume that he would treat them like any other mage? -Because if it's the former holy crap Mr. Mentor why-

You're right. And the Mentor seemed to care a lot about the listener, so I doubt they would sent them into THAT kind of danger -ignoring the other dangers they sent them in- 🤔 except if they actually only cared about their books... (I doubt that though)
Omg I absolutely loved this!!! What an amazing ending! Though I’m sad to see Jackel’s story come to an end this is a satisfying end (though I worry for our future with an all powerful blood mage on our heels).
