Thematically, I really like the dark. Being a transitional period from normal Dominia/Dominaria through the dark, to fallen empires and then into ice age. The power level throughout that whole series isn't great but that larger story arch that connects one major plot event to the impacts of that on all kinds of aspects of the planet makes the whole thing very engaging to me. Even back when I was too young to be interested in the comics and books that went alongside the cards, there was enough going on in the cards themselves that I could piece together a detailed narrative of my own that was a lot of fun.
Yes, I love the lore of the time. As a kid I loved seeing the little bits and pieces of the story in the flavor text of cards and piecing it together in my mind. One of the most interesting things I learned later was that Ice Age was supposed to be published after Antiquities instead of Legends, which would have made sense in the story line, and I think Legends would have followed Fallen Empires. Imagine that!
