Here are my thoughts on Connor Phillips: I really liked what I saw from Phillips, the upper 90s fastball can really blow hitters away. I will admit it doesn’t have much movement but the velo will offset most of that. The only problem is when he fell behind in counts and walked guys. I don’t think the curveball or sweeper is anything too special but I would like to see the changeup a little bit more, if he wants to have success in the MLB a good off-speed pitch will be necessary. With the control issues and lack of a secondary pitch, I don’t see him sticking in the rotation right now and most likely will move to the bullpen. I do really think if he can even cure one of those issues he could end up as a number 3 starter, potential top of the line starter if he can do both.
