Great work - Thanks for sharing. Some lovely tips. It shows how easy is to take Flows approval process and present them as Adaptive Cards in MS Teams. All about saving the users/teams having to go anywhere else to work - A real productivity boost. Thanks
This is fantastic, but even better would be a way to send the Approval card to Teams AND via email. If there were a "Send an adaptive card in an email" action, or a way to wrap the adaptive card content to drop into one of the existing "send email" actions, that would be great! We have a LOT of folks jumping on the Teams bandwagon, but probably just as many vehemently sticking with email as their preferred contact mechanism, so sending Approvals to both would be an amazing option to have.
@@JonJLevesque, the "Send an adaptive card in an email" action would also make it possible to (essentially) resend the Flow Approval message (as a reminder...'cause people forget or ignore them). I know the "Create an approval (V2)" action includes an "Approval Link" output (which is great), but then you're still sending someone to a webpage when they could be taking action right in the email.
Jon (and Daniel), these vids are so great! Presumably the 'get manager' step is relying on data configured in AD to know the ways different people relate to each other organisationally? If you work in an environment where the org info hasn't been configured in AD (no, I don't know why), what's a good way to create a standalone data source for that?
Hi, Great video. I used the same strategy to send an approval flow. The strategy is to use the comments to update a share point column, but unfortunately it seems it is not possible to get the comments out of the “wait for approval”. The share point columns results to be blank when comments are used to populate it. Any ideas?
Jon Levesque Yes, I tried it even if I knew the outcome. Using Response would give me as outcome the Label text on the buttons. Response comments would go one level deeper, catching all the comments added after selecting one of the comments. I hope there will be in the future a possibility to track those, because that’s what I need for my flow.
This is awesome video. I have created an approval with attachments(pdf files) and when I post as an adaptive card to channel the attachment is not showing. Any help on this please
Hi, great video, but it seems to be not working in Team Channels. When I post an Approval in a channel the Adaptive Card doesn't update and the approval gets stuck. In a direct chat in teams everything works fine. Is there a bug?
Great video. The “Requested by” always has the flow owners name. That’s a problem if we are building flows that will be used organization wide. Any fixes coming to that on the roadmap?
I used "Start and Wait for an approval". When the approval runs, the outlook does not display the adaptive card instead it needs me to click on buttons/title and it will redirect to another page to do the approval. Is there any way to solve this?
Hi, is there any way to edit the default Approval adaptive card? I managed to get to the JSON however when I change anything (even cosmetic) then Approve and Reject buttons return with "Unable to reach app. Please try again".
@@JonJLevesque Hi, yes I've been using adaptive cards. I am not even sure how to get the JSON in less "hacky" way (I copied the output of Flow of "Post your own adaptive card as the Flow bot to a user" mid test run.) The card itself works fine after my edits but it seems like it loses connection to the flow so it cannot send the feedback.
@@BemvilacBrito Hi, how did you manage to send adaptive card to multiple users in Teams. For me, adaptive card is sent to one user and after he responds it is sent to another user but I want it to be sent to 5 different users at the same time and that they have the possibility to approve/reject because I need my approval from 5 different people? Please help.
Marina Baričević Hi, Marina. Just saw your comment right now. You can do it in parallel mode in Power Automate. Just click on “new connection” then pick “parallel” it will open up new branches. For which one you pick Sent to user card. Is that about your question over ? Or Did miss something lol. Hope it works
I had one problem with the adaptive card coming from the Approval Flow action. The comments I can make in an approval are not coming through. Something is not working right.
Thank you for the tutorial. I tried that, but unfortunately the json-code produced by the "Create approval"-event is malformed at the "CreationTime". So I get a message from the flow-bot with the json-code instead of the card.
I finally got round to using this scenario. The video helped for a refresher on how it worked. Thanks Boys.
Right on Phil! Happy to help :)

Totally agree with you there Chad!

There is a bug being worked on. Currently you can only send it direct, not in a channel.
I might have missed something but does it use a default adaptive card template (you didn't have to make one) for all approvals?

Hit an issue where this does not work. Bots do not work in Private Channels so nor does Adaptive Cards :-(

Have you tried adaptivecards.io to edit them?

I like this.
AWESOME! one question - actually I've tried this one with no sucess at all - multiple approval using this approach - is that possible?
Hmmm, i haven’t actually tried this with multiple. Do you want all must approve in a single approval or sequential approvals?
Jon Levesque Sequential. I just (about 7 hours ago Lol) did! :). The whole trick, in my case, were how *deep* actions goes to.

did you make sure to plug the dynamic content into that section for update?
Ah... that’s why I couldnt use adaptive card, because I have choosen a wrong approval action! Thx guys :)

That’s odd. I havent heard of this before. Are you sure you followed along exactly?
@@JonJLevesque Yeah, step by step. Actually, I have created tons of working flows much more complex than this, I am now quite sure it's a bug.
