Life had to be challenging before these machines. Imagine going into the woods one day with an ax to build a log house for your new bride and family. I'd be like... ahh forget it, man. I'll just sleep under this old rotting log. Even this guy is knocking himself out here.
We have to remember though that the Pilgrims who came here over 500 years ago built plank houses. The planks were made by raising logs onto elevated frames. One person above and one person below used a two man saw to cut each plank.
@@DewyDeeps it's a grade for timber used to designate defect by certified timber er cruisers. Grade 9 (cull log) is trash due to amount of defect in the log. Unless, there is a pulp market. but that log was not cut for pulp wood.

@@frankierzucekjr I've seen them go for about 4 2 5 Grand. As somebody who searches Craigslist whenever you get bored I've actually seen a few vintage circular saw Mills selling between 1 to $2k. They used the old big 24 - 36in buzzsaws. Seen one being given away once. Guy wanted off his new property.

@@canivor81 Yes. I've got an old has been Woodmizer. It just keeps cranking out lumber with minimal maintenance. The higher lumber prices go up, the more I can justify time spent on that old (reliable) pig..

My 17 year old daughters just got their 1st woodmizer for their custom lumber company in September. They started out resawing 2 years ago at 15 and now make enough money they bought a 2020 F250 last year on their own. I love they started this company as they don't have to work ever but they enjoy hard work. I won a high 8 figure lotto about 5 years ago so money isn't the reason but they LOVE having money that is their own lol

But I still spend lots of time in my large equipment and my JLG 1075 Telehandler. It's funny if I was clocking in I might complain about "going to work" but it's my 6,000 acre yard and I'm building my 8 acre reservoir from my natural spring so it's "fun" instead lol. Perspective is funny
If you flip it over after the first cut, you can use a right angle to make it square, then roll it over to cut the last side. Tailsawed for my grandpa for 7 summers. Not the only way, but that is how he had me do it for years.

I’ve had to do this once. From 8 in the morning to 8 in the evening I was cutting logs up with Dr Kirk. I got payed 400 dollars that evening. That’s the most I’ve ever been payed once.
My uncle had a guy come to his house with one of those millers. He had a bunch of nice trees from his yard milled and built a bunch of shelving etc throughout the house. Pretty cool
This is for small scale lumber manufacturing. I work in the lumber business and with our equipment we are able to produce over 140 boards per minute. Sawmill line to dry kilns to the dry mill. Wood is a sustainable resource And people should respect it. All the liberals in the big cities are the reason why there is such high lumber prices and why the west coast burns down every year. Logging is very beneficial to the forest as it gets rid of excess fuel and creates logging trails the state can use for OHV or some recreational use and for the fire department for when I fire needs to be extinguished

They should make the blade with teeth on both sides so when it gets to the end of a cut It would cut on the way back.
