  • Today we build a light tank with the intention of dropping out of a plane like an unwanted toy! Hopefully you enjoy this one, not my prettiest tank ever, but she performs well!

This one reminds me a lot of the Colonial Battle Tank, the Lance-36, from Foxhole. The turret especially is quite similar. Needless to say, I'm a fan. I always loved the look of the Colonial tanks.

"I think it'd be good if you started to put your own blueprints in the appropriate folders to get them to spawn in the scenarios. If you need to know where to drop them I think I can point you in the right direction. At least when I was doing that, it seems like you can make the spawn "pool" as large as you like and the game will randomly select from it; and with how many tanks you're building, you could have some huge variety. You could also then go out of your way to build tanks (for every period) that fill all different niches to maximise the variety and potentially have a counter to everything" -Tom Meakin (I'm reposting this, this is a really nice idea and I think it would spice up the game a bit. I did it personally!)

The mobility and fast-firing gun really gives tetrarch (obviously) and locust (less obviously) vibes. What about a similar tank concept, but made for glider insertions rather than para-dropped? gives a fairly hard upper limit on weight, and if you design it around the concept of a light tank supporting commando action behind enemy lines, gives you a lower bound on armour (only needs to protect against repurposed 40mm and 20mm autocannons). I love the idea of an evil little light tank meant to zip around and destroy FOBs and logistics depots, but running into these scenarios. could be upgraded to a casemate TD to fit a better (read: stolen) big gun

I would suggest building a Emil-project tank (aka the Kranvagn) because of its different type of oscilating turret (with a pretty darn good protection if you insert it in a situation without 300mm+ ammunition)
But i'll spare you from the possible suffering it may be to build one

ie driver in turret gunner in hull, engine in front sprocket in the rear, gun mounted sideway.

Nice video! I recommend disabling depth of field in the video settings, at least when you are designing tanks. It removes that annoying blur when you zoom in close to the tank to place small parts.

If you need more space, abuse the basket space in the turret compartment settings or try making the belly lower, I used that a lot

Airborne tanks of this era were either glider deployed or had glider kits. Paradropped afvs are an invention of the 60s, and would usually use rocker breaking before touchdown.

Design a tank in WW1, then have it try and beat the game upgrading 1 part of the tank on each level. So sandbox WW1 specs and start on ambush. Each level earns one upgrade in one part of the tank. So gun, turret, engine etc, you only choose one, and choose wisely.

Buddy, try taking a British Crusader Mk.3 tank and make some modifications to it.
Doesn't need to be completely historically accurate (like both the hull and turret being both widened and extending, a bigger and long-barreled main gun, thicker armod wider the tracks, a more powerful engine, and giving it armored side skirts)?
If not, then please tag this for your next video.

Love this new style! Also, the detail segments filled me with joy - because those little touches always give me new ideas for my own designs (granted, you could say that about the entire thing). Definite tetrarch vibes - looking forward to more!

Now I wanna see a Mark 13 with a pike nose design for the front just to see how ridiculous it can look. Heck, pike nose the turret too and call the thing Mark 13-PNTD. After that would be seeing how large of a gun you can fit on it without heavily affecting the core design aspect of the base model lol

It could be done as a scenario mission: Having a very strict weight limit and the spawn point being in front of some landed gliders, with the task of destroying some artillery and capturing a location.
