they should have hernia support groups - all folks who are going to have the surgery or who have recently had it, so you can help each other out. After surgery, the support group makes a point of scheduling someone to help you out while you recover. that way no one has to go through the recovery completely alone

You are best having open surgery without an anesthetic. However... that will take a mindset that many of us, including myself, have not got. Cotton, only cotton briefs... white so you can keep track of blood. A close fitting, comfortable hernia support belt. Hope it works for you.
Hope things went well. I have surgery for umbilical and left inguinal Wednesday…. Nervous and don’t know what to expect! Did you have to have a catheter? Any info is great!
Thanks Ben, all the very best for Wednesday mate. I'm not sure about the catheter, I don't think so from sensation anyway, had no burning or issues peeing after. Is your surgery laparoscopic or open? Yeah I was very nervous, I'm a thinker, the staff where great, I also got a very low relaxing med off my doctor for the morning of surgery, took the edge off.
