Personally, I don’t see why we need to worry about catering for people attending race meetings who don’t have much interest in racing. Why distract people from the main event which is the racing itself. Maybe there could be event days or open days at race courses where people are invited along to get a flavour of the sport but no need to add anything to race days. If you to the pre parade ring, the parade ring, the betting enclosure etc in between each race, there isn’t much time to fill. It drives me nuts when musicians are wheeled out at half time in other sports events.
Went to the Guineas at Newmarket 5 years ago and everything was sold out in the shop. I don’t get what else you need when you go to racing other then racing.
A racing day is about 3 hours so adequate seating and, especially in winter, in a warm place, without having to buy something would be nice. As for the future, football, golf tennis, darts etc. have more people that have played or are active in these sports. Racing has a much smaller pool to draw on in this respect.
When Lossiemouth won last jan at cheltenham i put a mark of 170p on her. Handicaper wrong imo as she won with so many pounds in hand that day. She was pulling still turning in to only go up 8ibs for that performance was unreal. That day also she beat the 2 horses that Constitution hill beat a month earlier. Both were super impressive. If both run to their peak a great race in store but i would have to favour the mare as her speed is awesome. Shes closely related to top flat horse and up until recent years ex flat horses nowadays race international completely dominated the champion hurdle hence no opposition to Constitution hill who is a very generous horse as shown when winning at aintree not as much under the bonnet as you may think.
Why does a day at the races even need to be made better? You can change anything you like but it’s not going to attract people it’s about time we all just accepted it now different zones for hardcore fans sounds horrendous
Horse racing betting is on it's knees. The bookmakers here in Northern Ireland are attracting a few punters each day and slightly more of a Saturday. The gambling machines are the bookmakers only lifeline. I can envisage bookmakers closing down in a few year's time. The only way you'll get a bet on is via online. Other sports like football are a far more attractive betting proposition. I fear for horse racing.
Constitution Hill will not run in Christmas Hurdle. There is no way he will take on Lossiemouth on his return race. I think he will run on international hurdle in trials day.
The internet like so much in life has ruined the punters racing experience. Years ago if you were a serious punter you would have to go racing "for value" you could at times have a 2 point difference from one bookmaker to another in the betting ring. Now betfair rules the roost and bookmakers boards are automatically updated and you get no offers. Betting online or in shop pays double results sometimes extra places or money back if your horse finishes second (for low amounts I appreciate) but there are less and less reasons for punters to go racing these days with entrance fees and exorbitant on track prices to watch what is often sub standard fair.
What a load of bollocks. You go racing to watch racing. You take the money that you can afford to bet and that is your entertainment, you spend it and if you win that is a bonus. You watch the horses in the paddock and going down, you watch the race and you watch them coming back in and that is bloody exciting. I was once at Sandown Park, there was a crowd of 40,000 and I was the only man standing by the railway fences listening to the horse hooves pounding, the swish of the brush fences as the horses jumped and the cries of the jockeys calling for room. I didn't need to be more agile and I didn't need to queue for a little itsy bitsy kawaii vegan sourced key ring

Can the basics be addressed like being able to hear announcements and commentary and be able to see big races from other tracks more consistently
@@udy4025 that happens at basically every track already
@ I go racing every two or three weeks at the bigger tracks and mostly can’t hear the commentary and have to go to the bookies to watch other races

If they both run, Lossiemouth could finish alone

Con will batter lossimouth
Lossiemouth will finish alone, but it could be winning or second place. If the real CH turns up, then he hoses in at the price of a lifetime.
if he runs constitution hill will win easy
Con hill if he turns up he will win easily

The last people you want talking to punters is jockeys and trainers. They talk a lot but say nothing.
