That's why I cheese! 🧀 Yeah, after getting achievements, I have never played on lethal again. Dread is where it's at for me. I always have had communities that are full RT with a doc.
Tips for yall. In the beginning of your playthrough ypu have to be careful. Stop car and walk into plague territory is sometimes better Stealth kills do not add to waking up plague hearts. Crossbows are useful here Be on the lookout for screamers. Dont go pedal to the medal in the beginning. Hearts warn you that they are atarting to wake up.they calm back down after a while. We dont need to do every mission the game throws at us. Dont help that enclave deep in plague territory till your ready. Unless you want to. Outpost have traps that last 3hrs with the right skills. Killing non screamer freaks at infestations give rewards. I got a 50 cal once. Seiges give presitge. Dont wake up multiple hearts unless you want to Game is perfectly beatable on lethal with skill and patience. Eventually you can go loud and kick ass
Excellently said, considering this is leathal difficulty it makes since that you will have to start playing slow in the beginning. If this was the case for standard where it was extremely difficult in the first sub-hour then maybe a few tweaks to the difficulty. But it is not so no need to worry there if you play smart.
I haven't tried it yet, but the number one priority after fixing up the car you start with would be to go and find some good base defense guns. Rare Weapons Cases, police stations and military sites would be primary targets. It might be worth it to kill Screamers when driving around even if the car gets more damaged. Personally, Screamers waking up Hearts and infesting the whole map like you saw in this video discourages exploration and doing missions. I don't think they can let them do that for long before complaints start rolling in or people stop playing. Having them not scream at cars would make sense and let you have more control of the input.
@@ctmbottomtext9116 ok brother. Go in with at least energy drinks so you can outrun hordes. Remember u can move better than most zeds. Run around corners jump through windows. Look for feral that willshow up when u damage heart. There are a few ways to destroy hearts. Early game I like pipe bombs. But they dont stack. Throw one, let it explode throw another. Feral shows up, shot in head. Give other zeds the run around and throw another bomb at heart. Bombs a just one way. Good luck
I would like to see a similar update to Enclaves: Hostile enclaves will: - takeover base sites - grow to a max of 9 members (they recruit survivors/enclaves that you refuse to help or survivors you exiled from your community) - try to take your outposts - randomly attack you if you are scavenging in their territory. - awaken plague hearts near your base - launch offensives against your base and against allied enclaves. Allied enclaves will: - Occupy large, non-base sites like fire stations, warehouses, farms - Grow to a max of 9 members (they recruit from your community in exchange for influence, items or resources, or join with other allied enclaves) - Randomly assist you, provide support when you attack a plague heart/infestation in their territory. - Provide support against sieges and hostile attacks at your base as well as launch offensives against hostile enclaves All enclaves will: - Heal themselves (from wounds, blood plague, etc) between attacks from zeds and/or humans. This update in addition to the plague hearts update would enhance the State of Decay world and make it where humans can be as big a threat as the zeds and forging strong alliances are vital your survival.
I personally love the extreme challenge in lethal, if i wanted less painfull challenge i would lower the difficulty, if its too hard lower the difficulty you arnt forced into it, lethal was ment to be painfully difficult in the first place
Maybe I’m the odd one but I’m actually disappointed at how easy lethal was compared to what I thought. I just recently started getting back into the game because I saw all the talk about this new update so I started a new community on lethal to get used to it before the update drops. Yet it just seems, easy? Besides when I get hit by blood plague the only thing I noticed is plague hearts are just extremely beefy and there’s more zombies, but a greater number of enemies doesn’t make it harder if they’re gonna die just as easy
@@bebuu9794 Going loud will have nearly every zombie in a zone zeroing in on you and you can get swarmed quickly. Even silenced weapons will draw some, though not all, zombies to your position which emphasizes leaning on a crossbow
@@bebuu9794 wait for day 4-5, when you get bullied by hordes of plague ferals in most random times. if you know how to play its not hard but having your quest followers constantly die on you gets annoying sometimes xd. just had a very important legacy mission where the quest follower died because he shot one zombie with a silenced pistol which started a chain reaction that drew in about 150 plague zeds within 30seconds
Lethal to me isn't that hard anymore it's actually pretty easy now an I do good in it all the time. But nightmare and the last mode are a true challenge and it's hard as hell
Yall I just want to add that the 1st quest you get about 2 samples does not expire. You do not have to rush to complete it I wouldn't even attempt it without a crossbow in higher difficulties. Once again you get a warning that a plague heart has stirred but is not awake They do not just wake up. Dont do thing willy Billy. Use those survey points and find out where those hearts are Your community is very vulnerable in the beginning. Even more so now.
This makes your campaigns a lot longer, which is good. Lower difficulties won't be all bad but don't recommend Nightmare or Lethal if you actually plan on trying to have fun lol.
I wish I could have something like Zomboid with the community features of SoD. I like a challenge but uggg the way SoD does it...throwing so many freak zombies on you. I play games for stress relief, not to increase my levels of stress.
I would much rather see changes/additions to missions or even relationships between group members. Combat was fine before this update, more content doesn't have to be more difficulty.
Great video! Must have been a ton of work. Looking forward to getting home and checking it out. Glad it's probably more chilled on the lower difficulties!
I'm definitely gonna be in the minority here but I'm liking the update for the fact it lets me continue doing stuff after you destroy all PH and you dont wanna leave a map.
Damn, did I pick a good time to return to State of Decay 2. I was just itching for a nice survival / community building game and decided to reinstall the game. Didn't know a pretty cool update was on the horizon.
I knew this would be really unbalanced on lethal mode. It seems you have to be always playing stealthy or it quickly becomes a snowball effect that destroys you.
Whhhat, undead labs not knowing how to balance a game? You must be talking about someone else Lmao. Honestly I had to use mods to fix their own game. This game has been a hell of a fun time when its not in its bs magically spawning a blood feral on top of you.
Well it's lethal, i expected no less to being almost impossible. The amount of people I've lost is a lot. But its earned its name for being lethal, and my god i am having a blast
Yeah honestly I don't know how you were playing lethal previously? lol you've always had to be stealthy until a certain point so it's literally no different
Yeah... always staying stealthy is the key here, and to find a crossbow as quickly as possible. And later a good car, not accepting missions deep in Plaque territory and such. Later... when you have good weapons (in particular a heavy melee one), a strong community, base and such, it will become easier again.
I am not sure if people are aware that only "alerted and very close" zombies count for awaking the hearts, If you take time use a scoped weapon and snipe from a distance, you can actually kill hundres of blood zombies even when they are close to a heart, as long as they are not alerted to you at all.
I knew this was gonna happen once half of the fanbase started screaming how the game is too easy.. The game was never meant to be easy or hard. They added the difficulty level to cater to everyone's playstyle, and Lethal mode is annoying as it without the random spawn in the road plague Bloater. Now, they've nerfed the Haven device after all those missions and destroying all but 1 plague heart to get it... The audacity. I typically play on Green or Dread mode. I want a zombie experience but not a World War Z mixed with 28 Days Later experience. Only thing I was hoping for, was: New missions and removal of tedious fetch quests. Remastered and added map of Danforth City. New Legacy with a more fleshed out story that includes legacy characters from SoD1, like, Marcus, Maya and Ed. And, new clothes. I might be done with SoD2 now 😔
there is a reason they didnt do a big update like that, if i had to guess state of decay 3 is going to take priority. and if they did have any good mission ideas then they would just wait to add it to the new game obviously. not the half a decade old one with a dying player base
I was honestly sceptical at first, but playing it and versing these new hearts and infestations, it feels soooo much better and gives the game a whole new feel of strategy and a sort of dread. It really feels like war against a sort of warfare against the zombies and I am loving it!
State of decay is a zombie survival game that really makes you leader of a group that's trying to survive apocolypse and this update making the apocolypse hunting us. But the second best thing that could be is new weapons, weapon and car customization. The more customization the better.
Honestly I'm just cheesing the game now since they did that. Getting every car I can find and closing all the doors with them. Some are easy to defend than others cause some bases will have like 4 5 doors and walls the zombies can jump over.
Those hordes standing at the edge of the safe zone are looking pretty cocky for someone in molotov distance. Sieges always felt so lacking in this game to me, so I'm happy with this. Will be able to make more use of drone strike and sniper commands. Regarding the hearts waking up early game, I think they should do something similar to how the lower your survivor's community standing, the less freaks and zombies that spawn. So it'd take like maybe 6 screams to wake up early game, but as your community leveled up, it would get back to only 2 screams.
if you are a vet at the game I recommend nightmare if your just starting out this update. Any easier makes it possible to never have to see the new mechanic
I feel like 2 adjustments would make this snowball easier to avoid. 1) delay all heart activations at the start of a community until 1 hour of gameplay has passed. 2) killing a plague heart can only awaken up to 2 other plague hearts (closest 2). With these 2 adjustments, it doesn't entirely stop the snowball effect, but it should (hopefully) slow it down enough to give you a decent chance without having to cheese the game.
Good. Lethal was always supposed to be that, Lethal, not a cake walk. Changes in the last few updates made the game waaaaaaaaay to easy, now it is a true struggle to survive again. Stealth will be key! The real issue is whether the late game will be interesting or difficult, which would be nice.
@@jamespaul6315 that is the point of lower difficulties, not the highest. See it is a challenge rather than an interruption to you being able to beat a game at its supposed highest difficulty. Now you have a challenge to work up to. Either accept it or move down a notch, or move on.
The cell tower, signal ability, will stop the other hearts from waking up. I utilize the cell tower to eliminate a heart that is in close proximity to others. This ensures the others dont wake up. Works like a charm!! This update is fantastic as it adds difficulty and strategy. I have, currently, cleared half of my lethal map with zero awaken hearts and zero sieges.
YESSSS!!!! Update 33 is finally here! Man, I CAN'T WAIT to play it! Thanks for your review, buddy! Always appreciate your vids. Thankfully, I don't play on lethal... at least not yet. Every other difficulty, yes. Looks like I'll just work up to it. But this is very exciting!
@@chubbyfuck5652 it’s said to drop sometime after 10am PST (my source is the Reddit). But that still could mean it doesn’t drop til like 9pm tonight :/ so just find something to do until you hear the news if it releasing
This update impressed me big time. I just returned to the game after about a year away from it and I'm addicted to it all over again so much stuff has changed and its awesome and I love this update. My biggest request still is for just like a sandbox mode or something. I want to be able to make a community and not leave the map after killing all the plague hearts just keep playing until you choose to leave
You can do that. That very concept is what they had in mind when they released update 30 "Forever communities". You can either disband that community by placing them into the legacy pool upon killing all plague hearts and finishing leader missions or you can continue on with the same community.
@@D2dshnm Thats not what I was talking about. I am aware of the forever communities thing but what I am talking about is having the option not to leave after you complete everything but stay in that map forever. The game still basically forces you to leave that map after you complete everything
awesome! finally, a challenge again! 👍👍👍👍 i played so much of this game of the course of a year or 2... had nothing else to do at that time. so even lethal got boring. was desprate for the ability to increase the difficulty in some way... so this makes me VERY happy! favourite stats to use (havent' played in close to 2 years now): Backpacking: provides largest stamina pool (stamina is the single most important bar none). discpline: provides stamina per kill. Swordplay: when you know the animations for zombie attacks, swordplay becomes overpowered by leaps and bounds, the only other fighting style that can compare is a Stealth build. Gunslinger: pop an energy drink= use deadshot in rapid succession
One of my outposts got claimed by a screamer, it was the large grain silo out in Meagher Valley. However when I arrived, there was nobody. No zeds, and no screamers or bloaters like it indicated.
I used to love playing this game but it’s a shame I stopped because they’ve made the zombies seem like they’ve became self-aware more and more after every update. Now it’s like they’re smart enough to plan and adapt to kill you and your base. It didn’t really feel like a survival game anymore. It feels like a game of domination in call of duty. That is what pushed me away from the game.
It's pure chaos! It's getting freaky everywhere! I'm returning to it after a few months and it's drastically changed in terms of AI getting closer to your base. Sidebar, is there a way to lessen NPC chatter? Doing some "let's plays" for my channel and NPCs talk way too much. I have to see if there's sliders or toggles for HUD things like button tips and subtitles. I'm in the middle of a fight with a Juggernaut and NPCs are chatting away about bringing stuff back to base, getting subtitle dialogs and on-screen button tips really creates a ton of clutter.. all the while I'm trying to take down a big boi.
Outposts can attract infestation hordes, and can also blow them up, like how it was in SoD1 but you need to activate both effects individually every outpost
There are a few things that I think need to change. 1.) Screamers need to either be less prevalent or not be the one thing that can completely screw over a community (aka a nerf.) That whole snowball effect started with one screamer going off. And on Lethal where there are screamer hordes, if you so much as kill one, the other two will scream causing the plague heart to awaken. Something needs to change about this. Either there needs to be a certain number of screams before the plague heart awakens or there should just be less screamers in general (maybe just get rid of the screamer hordes to avoid what I said earlier.) 2.) The snowball effect created by destroying a plague heart should be much less punishing. As of right now, there is no way to put an awakened plague heart back to a dormant state. So once a plague heart awakens, if you don't want your community to be overwhelmed by seiges every few minutes, you need to destroy it. However, destroying it will awaken, as well saw, up to two possibly even three more, creating an even worse situation. It's the snowball effect created by what could be a very small mistake which I can see entire communites being overrun by a single screamer going off at a bad time. Something should change there as well. I'd either make it so destroyed plague hearts only cause some of the bar of other hearts to go up, how much depends on how close it is, or simply get rid of the mechanic entirely. That's way too punishing for doing something that needs to be done if you want to save your community. 3.) The nerf to the haven device. I understand that the device would be very overpowered for this particular type of change in its previous state and that a change was needed. But making it pretty much useless for a period of time just was not the way to go. I'd almost call it not worth it entirely now. Maybe instead of a recharge time, make it take longer to deal with zombies in general. Juggernauts take 40-60 seconds before they die to the haven device's effect. And so forth. Something that helps and is rewarding, but doesn't completely nerf it into almost oblivion. I love the update for the most part. It added some much needed excitement to the game. But I agree with you when I say that in its current state, it is so hard as a new community on lethal that it just is more frustrating than fun. Hopefully with some time and player feedback, the devs will implement some changes.
I don't think the devs intended lethal to be playable with a new community, and frankly I think if you try you should be forced to used stealth and other less used mechanics to win, or rather, everything that works. It became to easy with recent updates, and you could argue the late game will still be too easy. Lethal was the first time I ever had to turn down missions, use smoke bombs, avoid using guns, stealth, and firecrackers, and that was challenging but made me a better player. If you want to play as you used to, with guns blazing and running all over the map, well, that was what the lower difficulties are there for still.
@Chung Ang yeah but there is nothing good about being forced into a playstyle that one does not want to play. Lethal already did a good enough job encouraging people to use non head on methods but it never felt like it was "use stealth or your community is pretty much dead." Now, that is definitely what it feels like. Whether you like stealth or not, the devs should never try to FORCE a particular play style down the player's throats. Look at what happened in this run. If Sunny Games hadn't used already leveled up characters or hell, not been as experienced, that one screamer could have cost him this community. One screamer should not force a new community to its knees like this on ANY difficulty. As it stands right now, if you so much as awaken one heart in the early game on lethal or nightmare, you're more or less doomed to fail. I shouldn't have to play on lower difficulties if I want to play the way I want to. I should be able to play the way I want, and still have a reasonable chance of getting out alive if I play it well. With this update, that's just not possible anymore.
Hi. I started to play sod2 when it came out and gave up as I hated the game and carried on playing sod. But Ia couple of days ago bought the game thinking I’d give it another go, and wow what a big surprise I got I love the game. I’m watching your videos to understand the aims of the game and how folk are playing sod2. Your an entertaining guy and enjoy your game play. Thanks Pòl
It's crazy! So revisiting a late game play through that had no plague hearts, it's relatively chill environment. Going back to a newer play through with like 5 plague hearts and OMG.. in Trumball Valley, the big rock flanking your starter base had a Feral and Juggernaut, as well as infected hordes, bloaters and screamers on the fringe of the safe zone. You don't have to go far for conflict now.
Just started playing the game. Hard to imagine it without infestation sending those walking dead armies towards your base. Outpost mines will auto clear waves, so the geography of your outposts actually matters. Same thing with defensive towers.
I don't know, fresh community on lethal, most of the supplies needed to upgrade base are in plague areas. It's like a kid trying to steal from the cookie jar knowing the sibling will tattletale.
So I recently have come back to SOD2 after a hiatus from the game. From what I’ve seen and my experience so far with this new “curveball” mechanic I can calmly say THE THUMBNAIL IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE, all those infestations, siege sites, sealed hearts is enough to LITERALLY cost you all your survivors by them either leaving or dying trying to fend off the EGREGIOUS AMOUNTS of infestations littered in that Trumbull map. I said my piece.
I am lethal zone player and this with screamers is so dumb, I can't even drive a car without awaking plague hearts because of stupid screamers. Problem is even when I see screamer game will spawn random new one behind me and you don't have a time even to react.
Havent seen the random spawn very often. In the beginning. Stopping car and walking into plague zone is better. Yes we do have to be more careful in the beginning.
You know what I really like about the SOD franchise? It's not an "oh no, slow and dumb zombies have taken the world and we can't do sh*t about it" kind of game. Here this Fkrs not only have mutations, they get ways to ambush you, infect you, overwhelm your "safe zone" and even then you have a chance to fight back and that figth can get hard AF if you stall for to long. And thats awesome you really feel the pressure and frustration of surviving. Yeah, it doesn't have the "realism" and details of other games, but belive me, when you play on Lethal you don't need those to feel the weight of a world that doesn't want you around
The plague hearts have steps and depends on the amount of distance between the screamer and heart. Also stealth kills don’t effect the amount of zombies to wake a plague heart. I have watched someone play for hours without waking any hearts up
@@SunnyGamesYT sorry I didn’t get that far before I was typing. I think the new update definitely makes you play more stealth than before that’s for sure.
AI Pathfinding really needs in update, Definitely need a setting to adjust the crosshair size or even a dot type? Another idea is different camera angles!(Over the shoulder, Maybe even 1st person? idk) But me and my girlfriend really adore state of decay 2 and wanna spend more time together on it. Only problem there's no incentive for us to really play together, we have separate communities and the tethered connection just kills it for a lot of people. My last suggestion would be more things to to with the base building maybe customization and having more things to do with your own community. I wanna be immersed in the whole "I'm the leader and must strive to keep the people I care for alive" and enjoy a bunch of misc. stuff (Maybe somebody's birthday? Maybe food poisoning, from neglectful cook, just some ideas) Really want to connect with my people ya know? I may be being to nit picky when I say the game feels a little too "arcade" like to be very "immersive". Its not a bad thing just hard to go from per say red dead immersion back to the good ol classic State Of Decay! I really hope @UndeadLabs reads this! much love tho :)
Most people dont realize you dont need to do the first mission right away. It will not expire for a very long time. This is crucial on lethal zone. Gives you plenty of time to loot for the first few hrs.
If anyone watches Rvids S.O.D. channel he uploads videos about this kinda stuff. One thing that I noticed was that hordes along roads or just in general might have boaters with them which means no more joyriding into zombies. Oh and stealth killing or silent killing (crossbows are preferrable) won't stir the plague hearts so you should be good but always be prepared for shit to go south, it is lethal and nightmare folks. I'm kinda liking what I see so far though with this update. More challenging the more environment the longer it takes to survive on a map or complete all of the objects which helps me irl since S.O.D. 2 is one my chill games when I'm not on CoD lol
Only thing i don’t like so far playing thru is that there aren’t anymore infestations at all until the hearts wake up which kinda sucks it was fun to clear them out
I’ve always sneaked around with crossbows in plague tarritory until I was ready to kill the plague heart outright with the RTX Stormbringer and side stepped the infestations and sieges all together. So my community is so loud but it never matters.
Don't care about the difficulty, how about some new vehicles, having more survivors to man outposts, a new enemy variant or even a mode to actually clear the map of zombies and actually win a map!
I personally Loved the Chess Movement of the PH's, but Trumbull Valley is kinda the Nightmare scenario for missions, The Rewards are kinda dumb: lets see... you killed a feral, a bloated, and a bunch of zombies... here take this "2" 7.62 bullets YOU earned this reward.
I would personality like the ability to set up my own survivor outposts. Like let me be a commander, if plague hearts want to play chess, then let us play chess.
@SOD2DEVS: GREAT WORK 👍. Now is there any way we can get an option in the radio menu or auto shop to spawn a specific vehicle. I'm sick of driving around/ restarting multiple maps looking for a police car, red talon pilato, or particular color military truck. Or maybe a static enclave like Cash that just does vehicle related bounties. Like rewarding a heavy upgrade kit for running over freaks in a truck ect. That would be cool.
Cant wait yo play it, but can anyone tell me when it releases on xbox, I knew it releases today, but I come back from work today only to see no update. Is xbox getting it a different date or what?
same here, it's absurd how they are not saying a word on twitter about it and only on discord and reddit, saying 10th of May, but ndidn't specify for what , maybe steam, not consoles, I don't know. I'm trying to find an answer to this everywhere without luck, xbox update 33 release nowhere to be found.
@@giuseppeclemente6012 Like I know Sunny released this video 12 hours ago, but saying its today release date, bit yet I'm UK, it's after 6pm, still no update, I'm starting yo think the devs were only giving PC the update, xbox get it another day
So Lethal will truly ve absolutely lethal! Well, so this means that if you go against a plague heart, be ready to take out all of them in a zone. Gonna be exciting and terrifying. 👀
I actually like the direction they are going. I would love to see them do more with rival communities and outposts. Bump up the amount of people you can recruit to 15-18 or even higher. Have rival communities start at 3 and recruit over time up to 8-10. Outposts can have people put in them by your community and can be taken by zombies or rival communities. Maybe even add 1-3 slots in every out post. I would love a way to have the zombie hordes gather at a strong rival community. Also i would love to a way to organize with allied communities to attack rival community or a plague heart maybe even to the point where you will have to by the time you wipe out all but the last one or 2 as the hearts know they are dying and have the hordes gather in masses. I would love to see 3 cars full of people riding up to seige the last heart.
You know what crazy for some reason, lethal mode is actually easy for me but nightmare is my hard mode. Standard and the one before it pretty much just a walk in the park
I'm glad there is still a lot of people playing this game, but I'm unfortunately bored with it at this point. I'm just looking forward to SOD 3 at this point, and love that folks are still finding ways to enjoy this game. Undead Labs seems like it really cares about the fans.
You can get prestige outside Daybreak now by defeating sieges - can you also unlock daybreak rewards this way, or does the prestige only allow you to buy things you have already unlocked through Daybreak proper?
Okay... it is important now as a new player to begin with the lower difficulties. I am playing in Lethal because I had spent so much hours into the game, but, well, I have to see what awaits me with my new community, beginning today. I am eager not to recruit members of my Forever Community in the beginning, meaning I will try it out with random generated members. I hope for the best then. 🙂 What I noticed further is that almost anyone began (in the beta) with Trumbul Valley as the starting map. Are the other maps too hard to begin with in Lethal while playing the new update?
I have played cascade and meegher valley and had 2 clean play though. I am a darkside side player. I had to adapt my play style to be aware of the hearts.
@@mr.blacktridog2692 Ah... okay... do you think with the new update Darkside will be okay? At first the modder have to reajust Darkside I am guessing. I played Darkside too but it was a while ago now. Maybe with the new update that one will be too hard.
When you start with pre-existing characters like you did you also start the game with much higher standing than you would with a totally fresh start characters. This ups the difficulty quite a bit from jump. Honestly, you should prob retry the game with a new community and after you fully understand how it works (cell towers are game changers). Also, you should try it on a lower difficulty and see how that plays before you give a final review.
Hey sunny i bought sod2 on steam and realised after signing in to my xbox account i dont have my communitys transferred from my xbox. Is that how it is or am i missing something?
when they are chasing you start to backup, but go slow, then when they get close speed up again and you will trap them underneath the car and squish them, takes some timing and practice but it works and they don't dodge the car unless it is going fast or accelerating fast
Man this is going to make things feel a little different which is a nice change. Hopefully state of decay 3 has a little more in depth storylines though felt like the story felt a little bit basic in state of decay 2
hello i only play on nightmare but first i played on dread i must say both have all active awake plague hearts i havent seen a sleeping plague heart is this only on lethal? also i never had a siege looks fun if this is only on lethal i will start lethal soon
So I recently returned to the game after a 6 month hiatus and I noticed that jugs on trumbull valley in the nightmare difficulty seem to spawn on level 2 infestations. Is anyone else noticing this as well or is my game just a little more sadistic to my new community??
Some thoughts A) While ive all my communities at lethal i think i will restart at nightmare... the 3 ferals are annoying since they remove the possibility to go around with a companion, that is very immersive and realistic. Also lethal force you to cheat a bit, skip missions and often to use CLEO support when you are surrounded (After having destroyed a plague hearth for example) B) i am surprised to not see people destroying hearts from the top of a van...is by far the safest way.. any other method at lethal is almost a suicide. Even because as a "house rule" i dont use scent blocks. C) Another thing that will probably push me to avoid lethal is that i like to see the map "pacified" a bit when every plague hearth is destroyed... Being able to walk a bit around to explore... the 3 ferals makes impossible to do that. D) i dont know how you can use cars to hit zombies... At lethal there are so few cars that you basically pass hours trying to keep your 1 or 2 cars serviceable, especially in a map like Trumbull that is full of obstacles.
A) You do you. B) An experienced veteran can easily melee the plague hearts even without consumables. I do admit, mistakes can happen and the zeds sometimes get that scratch or bite on you but honestly for the most part the horde summoned by the plague heart is just an illusion. Ferals? You can find an obstacle to climb on and shoot it when it comes and continue striking hard. C) Three ferals can be killed by using a car. Impaler would be the best choice because it one shots them but you can use a common car, such as Rhames V, Miragra etc. D) If you drive backwards the engine won't be damaged. I have to admit that your car will still be break eventually especially if it's a large horde because it's quite hard to actually avoid all damage when there are zeds coming from all directions. But yeah juggernauts can also be cheesed this way.
Addition: B) If you don't have a ranged weapon, then you should at least have that stamina consumable so you can run away from the heart and lead the feral to a safer spot. C) No car? Use a weapon. No weapon? Run.
C) Can't run? Find the nearest obstacle. Ferals already eating you? Quit the game as soon as your HP is low and you suspect for the worst and reload. Don't want to cheat this way? Accept defeat.
@@benkenobi3364 I still dont believe much that people destroy plague hearts at Lethal , not from the roof of a car, without a bit of cheating ... because ferals arrive. maybe i am just someone who does not like to lose people (in all my lethal play-throughs i never lost more than 2-3 people to clean each map). All the other points yes of course i apply them but again is a bit lost of ammo's since the feral usually hide his head below the structure you climber and meanwhile other zombies arrives ...So yes i still do all my maps at lethal (i just finished Trumbull that is by far the most difficult, losing just one member) but is not the gameplay i like ... even more after the patch. For me a zombie game is quietly searching supplies, managing a community, make is sustainable, pacifying an area... not dodging zombies with silly moves and having to move always on car ...
@@francesco5581 Like I said, you do you. I like the aggressive approach but yeah I do have to agree that your way is also correct. And yes, of course I climb on something to take down the feral when dealing with plague hearts. The first three I guess are feral-free so that's basically easy plague hearts. When a feral's head is behind an object, I usually just shoot its body once so it backs down a bit showing its head. Anyway, good luck.
Now, imagine starting out without an army of Legacy Pool players at your disposal? You should give 'er a go with rookies who can't aim snap at birth. Then you'll know what hard feels like.
Now i finally don't need to be looking for zombies, they will come to me Oh, i love daybreak for the amount of bullets spent, and from this update on, there'll be the same amount of powder in a regular playthrough's air
this is a greatupdate but i dont like the haven device nerf, when you get that thing places you lready need to be so strong thatyou can easily go through the hordes by ease, the nerf just takes away the feeling of comfort that you got when you installed it

Tips for yall.
In the beginning of your playthrough ypu have to be careful. Stop car and walk into plague territory is sometimes better
Stealth kills do not add to waking up plague hearts. Crossbows are useful here
Be on the lookout for screamers.
Dont wake up multiple hearts unless you want to
Game is perfectly beatable on lethal with skill and patience.
1 plague heart literally is fuckin me up, nightmare hordes just don't stop
@@ctmbottomtext9116 ok brother. Go in with at least energy drinks so you can outrun hordes. Remember u can move better than most zeds. Run around corners jump through windows. Look

Give other zeds the run around and throw another bomb at heart. Bombs a just one way. Good luck
I like this update a lot your decisions will matter now

I thought this was the final major update
With this game feature, i can totally see the world falling to the Zombie Apocalypse
as it should. A game about the apocalypse that is too easy is pretty silly.
I would like to see a similar update to Enclaves:
Hostile enclaves will:
- takeover base sites
- grow to a max of 9 members (they recruit survivors/enclaves that you refuse to help or survivors you exiled from your community)
- try to take your outposts
- randomly attack you if you are scavenging in their territory.
- awaken plague hearts near your base
- launch offensives against your base and against allied enclaves.
Allied enclaves will:
- Occupy large, non-base sites like fire stations, warehouses, farms
- Grow to a max of 9 members (they recruit from your community in exchange for influence, items or resources, or join with other allied enclaves)
- Randomly assist you, provide support when you attack a plague heart/infestation in their territory.
- Provide support against sieges and hostile attacks at your base as well as launch offensives against hostile enclaves
All enclaves will:
- Heal themselves (from wounds, blood plague, etc) between attacks from zeds and/or humans.
This update in addition to the plague hearts update would enhance the State of Decay world and make it where humans can be as big a threat as the zeds and forging strong alliances are vital your survival.
I personally love the extreme challenge in lethal, if i wanted less painfull challenge i would lower the difficulty, if its too hard lower the difficulty you arnt forced into it, lethal was ment to be painfully difficult in the first place
same, its the only difficulty that makes the game interesting for me, glad to hear lethal got buffed
@@bebuu9794
Going loud will have nearly every zombie in a zone zeroing in on you and you can get swarmed quickly.
You do not have to rush to complete it
I wouldn't even attempt it without a crossbow in higher difficulties.
Once again you get a warning that a plague heart has stirred but is not awake
They do not just wake up.
Dont do thing willy Billy. Use those survey points and find out where those hearts are
Your community is very vulnerable in the beginning. Even more so now.
I think that cell-towers have a buff (outpost defense) that freezes the zombie kill count needed to awake a heart for an hour.
@AHSOKA TANO1994 yes, not freeze like the OG comment
This makes your campaigns a lot longer, which is good. Lower difficulties won't be all bad but don't recommend Nightmare or Lethal if you actually plan on trying to have fun lol.

I'm definitely gonna be in the minority here but I'm liking the update for the fact it lets me continue doing stuff after you destroy all PH and you dont wanna leave a map.
what stuff? no infestations spawn anymore after defeating the hearts
Damn, did I pick a good time to return to State of Decay 2. I was just itching for a nice survival / community building game and decided to reinstall the game. Didn't know a pretty cool update was on the horizon.
It’s an awesome update!
You had to play Lethal super stealthy years ago. No different now. Try sucking less.
This is good. I haven't had a Survivor die in about 200 days of play.
Only thing I was hoping for, was:
New missions and removal of tedious fetch quests.
@@Brad_-mc2yp Perhaps, but it's only a matter of time before all the tryhards complain about SOD3 and ruin it as well.
Only issue i have is the CLEO/haven nerf. That is the only thing that gives me rest when the game is going berserk.
Thank you to the sod team!!!!!! You guys work tirelessly. Can't wait to get back into sod2.
So whats the point of a sandbox if youre forced to play stealthy?

The cell tower, signal ability, will stop the other hearts from waking up. I utilize the cell tower to eliminate a heart that is in close proximity to others. This ensures the others dont wake up.
The game still basically forces you to leave that map after you complete everything

favourite stats to use (havent' played in close to 2 years now):
Backpacking: provides largest stamina pool (stamina is the single most important bar none).
discpline: provides stamina per kill.
That is what pushed me away from the game.
easy, just switch to green mode where you only have a couple zombies that are as smart as a door knob.
Zombies dont even see your flashlight
When does this update drop?
they could implement survivor needs like feeling hungry, cigarette addiction, etc, like making those high value items what they really should be.
Either there needs to be a certain number of screams before the plague heart awakens or there should just be less screamers in general (maybe just get rid of the screamer hordes to avoid what I said earlier.)
2.) The snowball effect created by destroying a plague heart should be much less punishing.
Well said Jackrabbit!
@@chungang7037
Boons and achievements say otherwise.
I think even the forever community was a recent update
@@eddardgreybeard What do they say? I don't follow you.
So a tip I've found when you awaken the hearts, grab what molotov or pipe bombs you have and chuck then all onto it
Just started playing the game.
Oh man, when and what time will the update be up?
I have watched someone play for hours without waking any hearts up
Yeah i mentioned in the tips section that stealth wont effect the number to wake up the plague hearts

But me and my girlfriend really adore state of decay 2 and wanna spend more time together on it.
*bloaters
Only thing i don’t like so far playing thru is that there aren’t anymore infestations at all until the hearts wake up which kinda sucks it was fun to clear them out
I’ve always sneaked around with crossbows in plague tarritory until I was ready to kill the plague heart outright with the RTX Stormbringer and side stepped the infestations and sieges all together. So my community is so loud but it never matters.
Don't care about the difficulty, how about some new vehicles, having more survivors to man outposts, a new enemy variant or even a mode to actually clear the map of zombies and actually win a map!
Time for another run and trying out a full stealth run.
I personally Loved the Chess Movement of the PH's, but Trumbull Valley is kinda the Nightmare scenario for missions,
The Rewards are kinda dumb: lets see... you killed a feral, a bloated, and a bunch of zombies... here take this "2" 7.62 bullets YOU earned this reward.
I would personality like the ability to set up my own survivor outposts. Like let me be a commander, if plague hearts want to play chess, then let us play chess.
It is not just the Plague Hearts that do chess, but you will need to as well
Agreed

@@giuseppeclemente6012 Like I know Sunny released this video 12 hours ago, but saying its today release date, bit yet I'm UK, it's after 6pm, still no update, I'm starting yo think the devs were only giving PC the update, xbox get it another day
@@markhetherington9495 I'm in Italy, same here, still nothing. Steam got it today for sure apparently, no word on consoles, which is crazy.
IT'S THERE, OUT NOW, UPDATING IT ON XBOX NOW!! ❤🎉🎉🎉
I came back here only to update you Mark 😊
This update was needed in the base game. I've always found SOD 1 to be much harder than SOD 2.
So Lethal will truly ve absolutely lethal! Well, so this means that if you go against a plague heart, be ready to take out all of them in a zone. Gonna be exciting and terrifying. 👀
The most important tip i have so far, is grab a cell tower outpost if you find youre waking up hearts unintentionally.
Maybe also when you get seized. You can radio other communities for help like they do you.
Do regular infestations (yellow) happen randomly all over the map no matter what or only if you awake a plague heart?
No👍
@@BibithePing that's actually great. Driving all over the map to take out infestations is a pita.
@@tjk3430 yeah, thats the best thing with this update for sure
This seems hard ngl😅😅😮
You know what crazy for some reason, lethal mode is actually easy for me but nightmare is my hard mode. Standard and the one before it pretty much just a walk in the park
First time taking on the infestation horde, I got a 50. Cal rifle from a jug. It’s punishing but the rewards have there moments
I'm glad there is still a lot of people playing this game, but I'm unfortunately bored with it at this point. I'm just looking forward to SOD 3 at this point, and love that folks are still finding ways to enjoy this game. Undead Labs seems like it really cares about the fans.
Love how hard it is this make waiting for sod3 no problem at all how much replay ability it has
Do we know at what time the update is supposed to come out today?
Same, I tried a little after midnight & no update
@@RonnieMyers777 yea I just tried and it isn’t here
Same. Question, do you have to have an active live account for the update? Because I don't. 🥺
@@d5031t probably just internet connection
@@RonnieMyers777 Okay thanks.
As someone who primarily enjoys nightmare (screw the plague ferals), I actually love the idea of these new siege mechanics and plague heart awareness.
@@emorsi it all depends how Zeru will update the mod, he most likely will have to start from scratch. Seems like a major update coming to the core
No, it's probably for the HAVEN device, and to test it out themselves
@@mr.blacktridog2692 Yeah... I think so too. At the moment I cannot imagine how it will be on par with the new update of SOD 2.
Dude this update makes it harder to survive makes it feel like an actual game now back then once you finishes the game got finished
Hey sunny i bought sod2 on steam and realised after signing in to my xbox account i dont have my communitys transferred from my xbox. Is that how it is or am i missing something?
Yeah I don't think there is cross platform saves. I could be wrong but I have communities on both Xbox and Steam and they are all different
@@SunnyGamesYT Bummer. Thanks for the reply Sunny.
Can we take several companions permenantly yet? Managed to glitch myself to a 5 player team before but it doesn't last long.
I was surprised by how fast the infestations spreads
Did the remove the radio tower ability to lure hordes to the outpost?
I just want to be able to kill Ferals with car like in first State of Decay 😭
You can? Get them to climb on your trunk and back into something😊😊
when they are chasing you start to backup, but go slow, then when they get close speed up again and you will trap them underneath the car and squish them, takes some timing and practice but it works and they don't dodge the car unless it is going fast or accelerating fast
*I haven't played Update 33 yet. The nerfing of the Haven device has pretty much nerfed my desire to continue to play State of Decay 2.*
Man this is going to make things feel a little different which is a nice change. Hopefully state of decay 3 has a little more in depth storylines though felt like the story felt a little bit basic in state of decay 2
I'm going to have to change my total play style. 😂
hello i only play on nightmare but first i played on dread i must say both have all active awake plague hearts i havent seen a sleeping plague heart is this only on lethal? also i never had a siege looks fun if this is only on lethal i will start lethal soon
In the Beta the game is turn way up. One thing I did in my few clean play though is I changed how I played.
So I recently returned to the game after a 6 month hiatus and I noticed that jugs on trumbull valley in the nightmare difficulty seem to spawn on level 2 infestations. Is anyone else noticing this as well or is my game just a little more sadistic to my new community??
Some thoughts
A) While ive all my communities at lethal i think i will restart at nightmare... the 3 ferals are annoying since they remove the possibility to go around with a companion, that is very immersive and realistic. Also lethal force you to cheat a bit, skip missions and often to use CLEO support when you are surrounded (After having destroyed a plague hearth for example)
B) i am surprised to not see people destroying hearts from the top of a van...is by far the safest way.. any other method at lethal is almost a suicide.
A)
You do you.
B)
An experienced veteran can easily melee the plague hearts even without consumables. I do admit, mistakes can happen and the zeds sometimes get that scratch or bite on you but honestly for the most part the horde summoned by the plague heart is just an illusion. Ferals? You can find an obstacle to climb on and shoot it when it comes and continue striking hard.
C)
Three ferals can be killed by using a car. Impaler would be the best choice because it one shots them but you can use a common car, such as Rhames V, Miragra etc.
D)
If you drive backwards the engine won't be damaged. I have to admit that your car will still be break eventually especially if it's a large horde because it's quite hard to actually avoid all damage when there are zeds coming from all directions. But yeah juggernauts can also be cheesed this way.
Addition:
B)
If you don't have a ranged weapon, then you should at least have that stamina consumable so you can run away from the heart and lead the feral to a safer spot.
C)
No car? Use a weapon. No weapon? Run.
C)
Can't run?
I just downloaded the game havent played yet do u have to have this on?
Lucky you i awakened 8 heart plague but aint getting any siege to farm prestiges 😢
They also nerfed the Impaler, zombies can now get on the front and back of it.
This dude: im finally putting my foot down. Enough is enough!
Plague hearts: Lmao sit your ass down.
Much welcomed update! My buds and me are all for the insane difficulty lol 😂😂😂 makes for some good streaming and fun times
@Sunnygames With this update can you do a video on what the best bases now are on every map now we have outpost defenses
SoD2 is basically a strategy game now too
Now, imagine starting out without an army of Legacy Pool players at your disposal?
You should give 'er a go with rookies who can't aim snap at birth. Then you'll know what hard feels like.
Now i finally don't need to be looking for zombies, they will come to me
Oh, i love daybreak for the amount of bullets spent, and from this update on, there'll be the same amount of powder in a regular playthrough's air
this is a greatupdate but i dont like the haven device nerf, when you get that thing places you lready need to be so strong thatyou can easily go through the hordes by ease, the nerf just takes away the feeling of comfort that you got when you installed it
Sounds like those of us who are average players with adult life.. well… just made it harder to play to game.
i am playing on the console version and it really wasn't much of a challenge and when this update came out then everything really changed its like playing a modded pc version but without the mods lol
Damnn now all my character will be solid snake😂
BTW Green&Standard Difficult are Still way to easy to beat no infestations at all
