The memorial powers music has is just amazing - haven't heard this in years and it just transported me back to being 18 (13 years ago) having left school, working in a warehouse, chain eating bakery donuts, saving money for my gap year in Australia and growing my love for metal along the way. Thanks for everything Matt.
I was reading this and I was like wow, you were 18, 13 years ago... that was a pretty long time ago for being 18. Then I looked at myself, I was 18, 10 years ago. So not that very far. Boy does time fly. Yeah this takes me back to my exams prep when I was 14. Still hits hard.
Shit, the crusade was the soundtrack to my senior year 2006 when I was 18. Shogun reminds me when I was 20 and in a band. Was so pumped for its release and it became my top 2 metal albums of the 2000’s

Shogun is one of my favourite Trivium albums. And it wasn't until a few years ago that I realised that the album perfectly loops, with the melody of Shogun being the same as the one with Kirsute Gomen.

Rain next please
One of the biggest feeling that this album encapsulates to me is aggression. I really feel like you have to put more rasp and feeling into the vocals for any Shogun cover. This just sounds like a weak copy paste in terms of vocals. The guitar playing is 100% spot-on and amazing. This album means the world to me and I just want the same feeling to be showcased in the covers that the songs represent and are worthy of. That being said of course Matt created all of this so he can do it however he wants
One of the reasons why the vocals are so bad ass full of aggression on that album is that it’s literally coming from Matt’s throat. Very dangerous and painful, but sounds fucking awesome. That vocal style is what put him out of commission in 2014.

@@Chug342 i know, but he doesnt play Shogun songs exclusively. he can go hard for the one-off for the sake of the fans i'd think. but he can do whatever he wants. i'm just speaking from someone from the outside looking in. respect whatever he decides, just long for more

@@Chug342 most likely it was the forced Draiman style vocals that threw him off. That’s what had changed in the equation so that’s why I suspect that.
