I got this Helko Werks splitting mail from my boss for a bonus and it hits very hard. In this video I compare it to my vintage 10 pound mail and it compares very well.
Many years ago, when there was far more brown in my hair than grey, I used to split my own firewood. The jurisdiction I work in used to leave the trees they would cut up on the land near our pistol range. On many an afternoon, I would leave work in my old F-250 and go to this wood pile and fill the back of the truck. I had a maul and some wedges and would spend more than a few afternoons busting my ass cutting firewood. The maul I had I bought at Lowes for 30 or 40 dollars, it worked fine. Years later, when the grey overtook the brown, I started getting the wood from a new type of tree. This tree, when cut, would hit the ground and break into stove length pieces and then would, on it's own, pile itself in my back yard. My old maul is gathering dust in the shed.😉 Stay strong Jar Head.
Again I say: The most important thing is to do what you're comfortable doing. If you want to carry a sidearm, do it. If not, don't. I carried a side arm in the military, so I'm used to it, and had that 1 in a million situation where it was useful.
Okay, now I want to see it split sweet gum! It looks really nice, but I just don't know what to think of a maul head being held with screws. I'd be afraid they're gonna strip out of the head at some point, or those holes in the handle causing a breaking point. I'm certainly no engineer though, it just seems odd to me. It is beautiful, that's for sure, those Germans are real craftsmen. My only suggestion would be to use a sharpee or paint pen and mark the entirety of the cracks that are existing. That way if they grow, or if more show up, you'll be able to easily tell. Shalom, and happy Sabbath!
My10 lb. Stihl splitting maul cost me way too much to start looking at some sexy l'il new- comer.......All I use my 6 pounder for is breaking ice on the chickens' water trough now. Be careful Zec, you're getting old, you might hurt yourself.😁
I've heard people say they have problems with the screws snapping. At best it's just a fancy looking hearth decoration, and at worst it's a serious safety hazard. I know you wouldn't want to talk bad about your boss's gift.
I like that axe I have a curved handle on my maul only by accident mistook my maul handle for my handle for a pick axe I hear Antifa is acting up in Atlanta area

5:00 “Yes, Sir.” 👏 Raise’m right.
"That's always my favorite thing if I split a piece'n the maul sticks in my splitting block, just makes me feel like a MAAN"
So relatable.
Wow, I just got one but haven’t used her yet, excited to see this vid…
Wow looks real cold there
Sweet looking axe! Fiskars supposedly makes a good one too but have never tried it.
It’s good to hear from you! It feels like it’s been a while.
@@TheRevoltingMan I'm still hanging around. Just less mouthy these days.

Since you decided to do a weapon mounted light video, I'll wait until it drops to tell you every reason to have one.

Try it on some sweet gum , that should tell the story ... That is a great looking tool for sure ... God bless ...
Germans make good stuff I just bought a snub nose 357 windicator nice big chunk of steel cuts down on the recoil 👍🐝
Magnum rounds definitely never belong in an air weight, heavy steel is definitely best 4 sure!
What’s a good survival axe if I were to only carry one tool
A Collins boy’s or camp axe. It’s light weight and effective and affordable.

A gransfors bruk splitting maul that doesn't have the screws worth 260$ worth every penny.

I’ll keep an eye on that. I’m going to use this maul heavily this year so if it has a weakness it should show up.
This has to be a joke. I was really looking for a test that compared splitting tools.
What video did you watch then?
I like that axe
