When that buffer ring popped up I had to rewind to see if it was the video or a slow connection. Very subtle and made me laugh! I love the videos and enjoy digging through past episodes for particular details. Thanks for taking the time to make these.
Thanks so much for being here!
Thanks for watching! Stay tuned, we've got a big episode in our Fly Casting Series coming later this week 🤙
Whoever edits these video's deserves an award
She's won several already. Thanks though. We might give her another.
She definitely deserves at least 15
This place is GOLD! Couldn't help you more and sweetheart of a dog in the shop. We drive hours to buy our gear here. Keep the videos coming guys! Hope to be able to grab a guide service for some steelhead in the next year or 2
Thans Jon. MRO appreciates you.
Hello from Poland!! Thank You for all of the knowledge You give us!!
Thanks for watching. We are happy to share. Please stay tuned.
I'm about to begin Euronymphing this Saturday on a local river for Brown trout. I bought a 10ft #3wt rod and waders and boots. I'm really looking forward to trying this new technique.
Have fun and let us know how it goes! Thanks for watching.
Not sure what diff it makes, but I have a tfo drift and I run 25 feet of 12lb amnesia to a ring and then ~2’ sighter to a ring to 9’ 4 or 5x flouro tippet. Essentially a mono rig with 1 25 section, sighter and tippet. Simple, inexpensive, but works ok for me. To dry fly, simply wrap amnesia on foam keeper, take out a rod section or 2 and add mono leader to fly line. The tfo drift is nice if you like multi functionality. Thanks for the video.
Anthony Baratelle Pretty much exactly what he does on the Drift. Perfect. Thanks for being here.
This one is a little over my head since Wichita, KS isn't exactly the mecca of euro nymphing. I'll save this one in the memory bank for when I go on a field trip. Thanks again.
Thanks for watching. Euro nymphing can be done anywhere there is water though. Doesn't have to be a mecca.
@@Madriveroutfitters my main fishing area is pretty still. Maybe after a good downpour I could give it a whirl!
That's a cool setup I hope I can afford one of those some day 🍀
Keep at it and you will.
Greate video! One thing.. you don’t need a bobber on a euro nymphing setup. Try without it and you get a better drift and you get deeper with smaller flies. But the technique is hard to master so starting with a bobber might be good.
Thanks for watching but at no point did he suggest a bobber with a Euro rig. Sorry but even "starting" with a bobber on a Euro rig is not suggested.
Mad River Outfitters but he had one rigged up on the sage esn rod? I agree would not recomend starting with a bobber. I didn’t start with it so I can’t know if its easy to start with.
Yes, he explained that on the ESN was a weight forward nymphing line with a standard "indicator rig". That was the point of adding the Euro Nymph Shorty onto the front of that.
Excellent tips and great video!
🎣
Thanks for watching!
I get the concept of why it should but never had any success in practice so tend to shy away from it. Great video though!
Thanks for being here.
Great stuff, love how you keep it fun.
Thanks for being here.
I euro Nymph and dry fly with the same rig. I just change my leader with a dropper rig. I sometimes think we over complicate but I get it. You're a Store that sells products.
Copy that but the funny thing is that this is designed to simplify and not to complicate. There IS some benefit to a thin Euro line over a Weight Forward line and this makes it easier for those who want to change "on the fly". Thanks for watching.
Works for me. Indicator nymph rig. Have tried euro set ups numerous times, hasen’t become a go to as yet.
Many different rigs that work and they each have an application. Thanks for watching.
I like it! Maximize flexibility with minimum amount of gear.
Exactly. Versatility in it's simplest form.
You're the best. Thanks for all the videos.
Thanks for watching. Stay tuned.
Very informative Brian
Thanks for watching.
Hi Brian, big fan here. Your videos helped me so much in getting started with my 4wt trout rod in the outskirts of Mexico City. I bought a 9wt rod for my upcoming trip to Costa Rica in search of black fin, permit and snapper. My question is, what strength (lbs) should i use for my leader, line and backing? And how much backing do you recomend?
Please send your question over to admin@madriveroutfitters.com and they will answer you there. Thanks.
Another great video
Thanks for watching.
I have a lot to learn 🇺🇸 thanks
Stay tuned. We'll help.
Nice video, maybe next time pike or muskey flyfishing??
Thanks for watching. Send your request over to admin@madriveroutfitters.com. They will see it there.
have any videos of you fishing ??
What is this? Cooking? If you looked around the channel a bit you would see.
With this, do you run the fly line just outside of your last guide? I have been trying euro nymphing but hate getting my loop to loop connection caught in the guides so I have been running the mono rig so there is no fly line being used. Great video, great tips!
Yes, you would try to not bring the tip of the line/butt of the leader into the tip of the fly rod. A nail knot or knotless splice can help though. Stay tuned. We'll be covering that soon.
Great video Brian 👍🎣, I still prefer to build my own. 😉
Yes, pretty sure he agrees with you here in this video. Thanks for watching.
I have one rod, a 9-1/2' six weight, medium fast action with RIO's Single Spey Fly Line, that I use for everything from dry fly fishing, to indicator nymphing and swinging streamers for steelhead. Now that winter is here and the fish seem to be rising less, I want to up my nymphing game, and euro nymphing seems like a great way to do it, but I'm concerned my 6 weight rod might be too heavy for it. I've read that the butt sections of most euro rods are based on 5 or 6 weight rods, but that they have lighter tip sections to protect 6x and 7x tippet. If I mostly fish with larger nymphs (0x-4x tippet), do you think a standard 6 weight rod with either of these products would still provide the sensitivity necessary to successfully fish a euro nymphing rig regularly?
Thanks for checking with us but you'll need to send your questions directly to the shop at admin@madriveroutfitters.com. They will get back to you there.
So you don't use a sighter above your tippet? Thanks.
Feel free to check with him or anyone at the shop. You can e-mail them or call them and they will be happy to help. Thanks.
Thanks for the review Brian! What are the line weights of the Shorty and SA at the rear taper? Is there an optimal line weight transition (e.g. WF3F to Euro line) to ensure maximal transference and avoid hinging? Also are these products designed specifically with 9' rods in mind, or will they also work on a 10' rod?
Thanks for watching but you'd have to check with Brian directly on questions like this. He works at the shop and doesn't monitor this channel. You can reach him at admin@madriveroutfitters.com and he'll be happy to help/answer.
Damn bro part of the fun is trying things for yourself innit? You don’t need to exactly mimic what they are doing ffs.
@@EatShredSleep87 I think the strategy works once you have a solid base knowledge. But modeling experts really helps when you’re beginner or even intermediate.
I have a 7wt 10ft sage for steelhead in great lakes....would this be a better option than trying to use a 5 wt euro specific line? 5wt seems to be the biggest euro nymph line weight out there
Please give a call or an e-mail to the shop directly and they can help you there. Thanks.
That’s Awesome Now I don’t have to send $300 for a special euro set up👍
channing nenninger Correct. Can be simple.
Are those euro lines braided or mono? Would you be able to do the super glue splice for the leader??
Standard fly line....basically running line. Yes, you can do the super glue splice and it works great.
What reel are you using on the drift rod? Also, with these new kits, do you suggest a bigger reel than normal?
You'd have to send these questions directly to Brian at the shop. admin@madriveroutfitters.com will get it to him and he'll get back to you there Thanks.
Did you ever get an answer on this ?
Would it work to run just a Euro Nymph leader from a standard weight forward fly line and only have a little fly line past the guides? Or is it better to use the euro shorty, even though I rarely see videos of euro nymphing where there is any fly line outside of the tip of the rod
Sure thing. Any further questions, feel free to call the shop and chat. They are always happy to help.
So how many pockets do you recommend to carry all of this stuff? :)
2 or 3 more than you have stuff. That way you have room for the more stuff that Brian is going to show you. Thanks for watching.
Brian I need help! I can’t find were you ask questions on y’all’s website. can you help me out?
You gotta send an email to:
Admin@madriversoutfitters.com
Jesse Likesfishing you have to email them. Watch one of their Q&A videos and it tells you the email in those. 👍
Remington Becker thanks!
Bingo. The shop communicates via e-mail or telephone. Old school.
This could be titled, "Another way of Common Sense Fishing," except for some reason, no-one except nine-year old kids ever did this until the guys in France and Spain came up with it. Hmm, I wonder if those gentlemen had kids?
We've been doing it for 40 years around here, you are right. "They" just popularized it and now everyone thinks it's something new.
This is just too confusing for a novice. So many different rods, techniques, lines..it's just crazy.
Have you watched this series:
ua-cam.com/video/rZEyOrpYyqE/v-deo.html
That should help. You might be watching the wrong videos as a novice.
Is Brian upset John Legend won sexiest man alive and not him? I'm guessing the voters are bait fisherman.
He came in second though so not too bad.
