Love the kid playing with the stuff in front of the interview, making lots of noise and walking in front of camera twice, classic. Little fellas off in a world of his own and two adults conducting an interview were not bothering him at all! Bless him.
Very good interview, nicely discussed and presented. Great to get a US perspective on the Hobby. In the UK Railways seem to domainate the small hoby stores as well.
Great video, the best HobbyTown USA that I've found with a very large selection of model kits is located near SeaTac in Seattle, Southcenter Pkwy Tukwila, WA. Our Hobbytown USA here in Tucson doesn't compare. Next time I go there for work, I'm taking an empty suitcase. Cheers
Very Very cool interview John. We had a Hobbytown USA here in Harrisburg at one time but about seven, to eight years ago it just folded and closed the doors one day. Really stank. Our closest hobby shop is about a hour or more from me. I do have a Michaels about a half hour from me but would really like to have a local hobby shop that I didn't have to plan a special trip if I need something on the fly.
Hobby town is my main shop, but I do miss the independent hobby shops which seem to be dying off. Plus their prices tend to be higher and hobby town has good deals
Comment ": I enjoyed the interview, maybe one day I'd get an R/C helicopter, I think I'd rather fly that than a plane, should I ever venture into that side of the hobby! :) Hopefully I'll take the train to Clacton-on-Sea on Friday, they have a great craft / hobby shop there, very friendly and with a small but great range of models, a very good selection of paints, including Testors and Tamiya as well as Revell and Humbrol. That is my plan anyway, but it pends on how tired I am & the weather :)
Was that a BRIO wooden railway down in the bottom right corner?? (Just giving you an excuse to go back to the shop and look) :) The main local hobbyshop here now is mainly focused on R/C planes, boats and cars.. but they sell plastic kits as well, at HIGH prices! But you get the impression they look down their nose at plastic modellers in there, which is one of many reasons I don't frequent that shop unless I'm desperate. :( I forgot to mention they have no customer service either.. much! :P
An RC heli will take months to learn to fly so if you think in terms of cost per hour, it is the way to go..... I have nothing planed but work for the next two weeks.. :(
LOL, the owner asked me about the kid and if he would be a problem and I said no. Bibi just pops up in my videos all the time, so I thought to myself, whats the difference?
It was a BRIO railway, far better than the cheap knockoffs I have seen in the toystores. This shop has good customer service, so I would recommend, but not worth the trip across the pond.

That was the way it was here in town until he opened up shop. Now I can get most things from him pretty easily.
Thanks!
I do miss the independents as well, but this is the sign of the times. The internet has killed off quite a few of them.
Awesome interview. That is one cool guy.
I didn't think about that, but if I had thought about it, I would have asked him. I know he sells quite a bit of it.
Great vid John.
