You are doing the right thing by keeping busy, I will be 90 years old next year and have just 18 months ago lost my wife of 53 years, the time seems to go by so fast it seems like only yesterday that she was here. You are a young lovely lady with a long fulfilling life ahead of you, hang in there, I also like to have an easy meal of scrambled eggs on toast. Take care. Bill.
I’m so sorry to hear. It is so difficult, and I know some of what you are experiencing through someone who also recently lost her husband of 60+ years and the impact it has had on her. I can only imagine when you have spent the best part (in many ways!) of your life with someone, how that affects every part of your existence. I experienced that too, of course, and my life is in no way similar to a year ago, but I do have the boat as a reminder of what we created together, and the necessity and focus of continuing this business, for both of us. I hope you’re doing okay. Rhiana
Hello, I'm new here and have only seen a few videos but from what little I have seen, I have no doubt you are a strong person and even though it may not feel like it right now, I believe you will do well in whatever you put your mind to. You are a beautiful young lady with a bright future ahead. I hope the best for you were ever it may lead. Thank you for sharing your life, I'm sure it's not an easy thing to do. Take care.
If you ever want someone to do the locks for you, I would be delighted to oblige. I'm retired with plenty of time on my hands and frequently walk along that stretch of canal.
What an inspiration you are. I’m 6 months into my widowhood journey and can totally relate to ur comments. Going from 2 to 1, doubling up on the jobs isn’t easy but ur doing it! Hats off to u as u continue ur journey. masa would be so proud of u and will always with there in ur heart.
❤️ huge hugs. It’s the same but different for everyone. 6 months is not long at all but feels like a long time… or at least it did for me, when you’re used to seeing someone every day. Small steps, or sometimes none at all! Either way, it’s fine.
So glad you will be starting cruises again. I spoke to the charming Masa once, we came through Uxbridge lock going down and did not see you waiting to come, so my crew, wife and daughter closed the lock, they jumped on and as I came out under the bridge I saw The Piano Boat and immediately called out my apology to Masa to which he replied it's fine, such a gentleman. I still admire you Rhiana taking the boat out solo, I've been on my boat 23 years and not sure I could do what you are doing. All the luck with the cruises and the future
That’s lovely that you had a brief interaction with Masa. He did enjoy his skippering duties, and I figured that if he could do it solo then so could I!
I think that you are amazing - and totally doing the right thing with courage, vision and honouring Masa. Sending love and blessings. I pray that one day I can join you for a little musical journey.
Seeing you handle the rear canopy on your own and handle cruising and mooring all on your own answer's my questions I have could I do this as a solo cruiser on a wide beam A big thankyou for that.. Fast flowing river like Thames or trent maybe different?? It's really great to see you finding your feet reopening the piano boat. just take it nice and slowly so it does not become overwhelming too quickly.. Everyone that knows you will be so proud of you. I'm sure your feeling all the Love through the words of encouragement from everyone. God Bless you Stay safe. John
Thank you so much. I wouldn’t be sure about going solo with a wide beam on a fast-flowing river but maybe you can let me know if you do! The canals are fine as long as it isn’t too windy 😊 thank you for taking the time to write.
Very well done as I said before huge inspiration alone in how you manoeuvre the huge boat. I marvel at the Narrowboats let alone a big widebeam. You’re doing so well and a wise move getting back in the swing of a similar and different chapter. Wishing you every best wish.
There already is some joy showing while talking about the starting and the going. 🙂 Sounds like you have found the path which is right for you and is right in this time.
Will be visiting England with family next spring. If our itinerary magically matches up with yours we'd love to join one of your cruises. I'm glad you're able to ease back into it, but don't worry, you've got it.
A really nice update. I wish I wasn't on the other side of the world so I could join for a cruise. I don't know much about long-boating but imagine its a handful navigating Rachmaninov through the locks. Well done and best wishes for the start of cruising again.
Lovely Video Thanks . It all looks lovely but obviously a lot of work ( not just cruising behind the Wheel ) . So glad to see your enjoying it so much and the weather being kind for a change this year. Im sure it will feel great once you have people back onboard and Piano Music filling the boat . Love that Cat of yours that likes to share steering the boat . Best Wishes for the relaunch of the Rachmaninov Musical Adventure.
Well done Rihana “ Lady of the Boat “ 💐 Sounds like you have a plan ? This will certainly keep you busy and a lot of planning and organisation to be done . Time will fly and it will certainly keep you occupied, wishing you good luck and the best wishes , I’m sure bookings will be heavy and it will be a tremendous success ? Look forward to the future . x🇦🇺
I wish you all the luck in the world 🌎

The Captain and her cat. I'm excited for you on this new journey.
Thank you ☺️
*cats 🙂 I like the image of the two snuggling together at 12:20.

Thank you, that’s very kind 😊 it is manageable, I’ve found, so long as I take it very slowly. It’s a nice pace of life.
I'm happy that you're going to stay on the water. Good luck for the future. I look forward to seeing more.
Thank you, yes, it was the only way forward for me!
