There are lots of lessons and tutorials out there... this is the only one that definitively teaches you how to approach this Tyler Childers song, White House Road. Here, you'll learn the White House Road chords and movements. This White House Road tutorial correctly shows how to execute the song in drop d tuning, capoed on the proper fret, while teaching rhythm consistent and sensible to how Tyler Childers plays.
Guitar lessons in person are expensive, this is free. Other guitar tutorials on youtube can be risky for your playing habits, because you may be taught faulty mechanics and spend time practicing incorrect short cut versions of a song. This video wont do that to you.
As someone who had never attempted pull offs or hammer ons this was the first song I learned using them. In 6 months I can play 10-15 Childers songs pretty easily. Thankyou for this tutorial!
Thanks so much for letting me know, I'm happy the lessons help!
hope all is well brother! all your tutorials are exactly how the songs sound and are well taught. your hard times lesson is perfect as well!
YES! this is the best video I have seen with the EXACT sound of the song... Thank you for sharing this knowledge

Thank you for a Great lesson, easy to follow! Had me playin close by the end! If you a Tyler Childers fan I do have a request for Coming Down from the red barn recordings, I cannot find a tab or even a video for the way Tyler plays it and I’m a beginner so not to where I can figure it out quite yet!
And I know it’s a cover I just prefer his take on it

That sounds purty darn close to the original- thanks for the tutorial!
No, I do not believe you are wrong about that. After hearing you play it like that, I to am almost certain it is in double drop D. So clever! I am a beginner, so don't laugh when I say I have never heard of anyone tuning in double drop D. You definitely have a good ear for music dude. I am very impressed and will follow more of your lessons. Thanks.
Hands down only reason I’m able to play any of Tyler childers songs
I'm glad you find the lessons helpful Austin!
You the man, Tim. Many of my searches for songs are of the form: tim.

Nice work! Thanks
You’re welcome! Thanks for the positive feedback Andrew!
Love these lessons! What about doing one of Charles Wesley Godwin songs?
Please do a tutorial on Slippin’ and Slidin’ by Justin Townes Earle. It’s an awesome song and there are several live recordings of it on UA-cam.
Hi Tim,
Thanks for another great tutorial. Can you please do one for Harlan road, and of course any other Tyler Childers' songs you feel like sending our way will greatly be appreciated.
Hey Louis! Thanks for the positive words! I’m always looking for good songs to do tutorials of... I have to be honest though I’m not that familiar with Childers’ Harlan Road... is it on an album? Or live only? Point me in the right direction... I want to hear it
Tim, I believe Harlan road is a song he only plays live. The best versions I've seem is one from Red Barn Radio and one from sound stage studios. Both versions are available on UA-cam.
Alright thanks! I’ll give it some listens!
ua-cam.com/video/HR1DrnjsChM/v-deo.html Here you go man!
can you help out on his song banded clovis?
Honestly, yeah. Either he does drop the high E to D or he should, cause that sounds great
Good on ya
Thanks!
Great lesson. What guitar/model is this? Phenomenal sound
Hey Ken, this is a Collings D2H
Hi Tim great video. I am a beginner and cant figure out strumming/rythym. Is it just up down repeated?
same here! did you ever figure this out? i just can't seem to get it down based on his explanation.
Thank u
You’re welcome Joshua!
Tim, some say its DADGAD tuning? Or is it DADGBD... Oh and does he slide and bend during singing or only in musical breaks and intro?
It’s been a while since I’ve watched him play it, but I’m betting he probably does variations of both for the sliding and bending part, but I suspect it’s more pronounced in the breaks. As for the tuning, I’ve never seen him play it in DADGAD, but maybe there’s a version I haven’t seen... I think this tutorial was double drop d, but I think he also plays it in standard drop d sometimes too
Tim well just saw this version ua-cam.com/video/oLq3X83iKOo/v-deo.html not too good but he talks DADGAD. Anyway I stick with doubleD, sounds awesome.
Yo is there anyway of posting chords WITHOUT a Capo?? Thx man
I tried the same shapes without capo and still sounded decent..
Great!
Thanks Justin!
Yeah, Double-D's was the right choice.

..I'll show myself out...
try it in DADGAD ! thanks for the tutorial!
can you do banded clovis?
James Evans realy? DADGAD?
I agree. Many Appalachian artists use dadgad
Nice but one question do I tune then kapo or kapo then tune
Thanks Joshua! You can really do it either way... capos tend pull the strings a little out of tune when you put them on so you may want to actually do both...
Is there tab for this on your Patreon Tim?
Hey Mike, I do not have tabs on my Patreon... I simply use patron as a “tip jar” of sorts
@@TimGuitarLessons Your technique of teaching seems clearer than the current Patreon site I support, but I find tabs helpful to my learning style and the other site has them. Does Patreon allow for a one time donation?
I think that it does allow for that... but I’m not 100% sure how that works. You might would have to join and then cancel
I disagree with the double D tuning. My ears hear that major 2nd above G; leaving the high E string alone so that A will sound. “A” is the major 2nd or 9 of the G chord (actual sound of first chord). “A” will be the major 3rd of the F chord (actual sound of the second chord). “A” will be the major 6th or 13th of the C chord (actual sound of the third chord). Leave the high E string alone.
Well my high e string is now gone 😂
What kind of guitar do you play?
This guitar is a Collings D2H
When you drop the high E would it not be a G?
The high E would get dropped to a D from an E... to get a G note on that high e string then you would need to be fretting on the relative 5th fret. Did I misspeak about that somewhere?
I was just wondering as I when I dropped my high E to a d it did not sound the same as yours so I dropped it further and the tuner said G so I assumed it went there. Thanks.
Tune to e before your capo, once capo on 5th it will be g
Yep. Figured it out. 👍🏻
Yep. Figured it out. 👍🏻
Thank you!!
Sure thing Mark!
