i love the versatility of mai. She can go from riding in a Lamborghini and living in a penthouse to showering with a bucket driving a moped. it really shows how grateful she is because she never complains about a thing.
this kind of travel video really shows the heart and intentions of a Maiphammy to her root. I really hope she'll start doing her own podcast soon, this woman is not just independently funny but is also so wise.
As a fellow asian, I'd like to say a huge thank you for showing us your beautiful country as well as embracing your culture. This vlog made me appreciate my filipino culture and heritage. Thank you for not only representing Vietnamese people but also all of us asians, Mai! You deserve all the love and support you're getting from the entire world! Love seeing this new side of you. I'm soooo looking forward to your travel vlogs!!!
Love that she is showing her humble home and true to herself despite her life style is different in NYC. I think we all can appreciate that authenticity from Mai. Glad to know she is doing a lot better now
This amazing person, vlogged at eleven, and now, 20 years old and has 3 million subs!! Am so glad that Mai has reached this milestone in her life! She truly deserves all the love and support she gets. Congrats gurlie! ❤❤
As a Vietnamese person who was not able to grow up with the culture, it's truly heartwarming to watch this video and see you traverse through the homeland and relive wholesome memories. I am so proud of you and watching videos like this make me feel a little less alone in the world when it comes to feeling a bit of an outsider when it comes to going back to your roots, thank you so much!
this made me really think because i am genuinely so proud of this generation for making cultures feel more valid and honest now because i grew up never thinking much about my culture but i realised that was because people didn’t really understand asian culture or thought it was different but more particularly a weird kind of different. i used to hate how my filipino family and friends would take up so much space in public places and talk so loudly but i’ve grown comfortable with that and realise that that’s just what family and home is. i love how people’s cultures are being more embraced these past couple of years. i feel more proud and happy to be within an asian group and culture 🫶🏽 anyways para over this video just made me feel really proud :’)
as a vietnamese girl myself, you really earned a different level of respect from me Mai. being born and raised in american waters, as well as fear of losing my touch in how fluent i am in Vietnamese, i’ve been a little anxious about traveling back to VN. however you have shown me that even with the slight language barrier, you still have an amazing time!!! i will be visiting VN for tết and will for sure use your video to help guide me to different places to visit!!! much love from Virginia ☻ chúc chị mạnh khỏe!!
This is such wholesome content with your grandma, I love that you're revisiting and remembering the places you lived in during your childhood. As someone who immigrated to the US from Sri Lanka when I was 7 years old, this reminds me of when I would visit and be reminded of familiar places from my childhood. My parents were farmers so we lived in the rural areas as well. Also (not me writing a whole essay lol), I found the part where you said that your trauma blocked out most of your childhood so relatable lol
I'm 23 Viet Asian American and I haven't been back to Vietnam since I was 6 yrs old. I've always felt like I didn't deserve to go back bc of how "American" I am, that I wouldn't appreciate the culture enough, or that my relatives will judge me. This vlog has literally changed that mindset - I want to go back and see my family and explore Vietnam now that I'm older. You inspire me, Mai. Love you so much
you were only 6 when you left so it wasn’t your fault yk!! You should go back watching this vlog made me want to travel there. Y’all culture looks so fun, peaceful and the food looks AMAZINGGG. Everything is organic and raw which the usa doesn’t have. I think you’d have fun, dont knock it till you try it 💞!
FIRST OFF HOW FREAKING CUTE IS MAI's GRANDMA. I can't even imagine the time and the effort put into this one video, I really admire the hard work you put into your job. CONGRATULATIONS ON 3 MILLLIIII❤️❤️❤️❤️
Girl you always felt like a sister to me but i literally cried during this video because i felt soooo much more closer to you. As a subscriber from a not so developed country, this video felt like my childhood. I literally love you so much and you inspire me a lot. congrats on 3m
I’ve always grown up not wanting to travel Vietnam due to my family’s heartaches and paranoia. This has to be one of my favourite vlogs and healed me in a way as a Vietnamese kid born outside of Vietnam.

I like how she literally films the insides of the home & the bath/toilet & how she showers. It looks just like any average south east asian village home or a more traditional home. Like we all literally bath like that, standing with buckets of cold water. Thanks for this video. ASEAN represent!
this whole video felt like a big warm hug... made me feel so safe that you showed your culture in such a beautiful chill heartfelt way. may be one of my all time fave videos you've made mai ♡
I am Vietnamese, but I've lived in Australia my whole life and was supposed to go to Vietnam during the holidays to meet relatives. And see how my grandparents lived for most of their lives before moving to Australia during the Vietnam war. Unfortunately, I didn't get to Vietnam due to some difficulties, however seeing Mai travelling there and showing Vietnamese culture through their food, routines, markets etc. I feel like I got to experience going to Vietnam for a little bit. Thank you Mai
The beginning only shows how far she has come, and how far she will go. Mai is such an inspiring person and as a fan I am honestly so proud of her. Thank you so much Mai for being an inspiration to many of us and being someone who always brings joy and comfort. Congrats on 3 mil! ❤️❤️❤️

Mai I was so unbelievably happy seeing you ride the motorbike across the countryside. Life happens outside your comfort zone and you always remind me that. I’m sure it felt good for the soul just to be around the culture and nature ❤
This made me want to go to Vietnam even more! I didn't grow up with anyone to Vietnamese or to take me and show me their hometowns so I had to teach myself about my own culture. Your bà nội is so adorable!!!! Love you

Jeannie Mai from "Hello Hunnay" channel also put out videos series from her Vietnam trip. I absolutely loved her last video where she climbed Yen Tu, but she showed some amazing hotels/resorts during her trip.
I backpacked through Vietnam a few years ago and this video brought back so many wonderful memories of one of the best times in my life ! We ended up staying for a whole month because we loved it so much over there. I usually don't want to go back to countries I've been to before but I 100% want to go back to Vietnam someday. & congrats for 3M Mai !!

OMG! Vietnam looks really impressive, the culture, food, views... The way you embrace and re-explore your culture is also so inspiring. Most people on the internet show just American way aesthetic things and moments. So seeing you represent different cultures and places so precious to me.
happy 3 mil mai! I’m honestly so proud of you, although I haven’t rlly commented on ur vids, you’ve always been my comfort, positive yter to watch. every time you post it gives me a sense of safety and thank you for everything x
Seeing you travel with your grandma just made me tear up man... The smile and happiness on her face reminded me of my grandma who passed away last month. She wasn't the best but I did grow up with her and I missed her so much. I never expected I would feel so sad if she died but I guess you miss your family no matter how toxic they are... I wish I could travel with my grandma (dadi) like this. Anyways love your vlogs and you Mai💛
The shots were insane and seeing u meet with ur grandma and visiting ur childhood home also made me so nostalgic so thank u for bringing that feeling back and congratulations on 3mil🫶

happy 3 mil mai! I’m honestly so proud of you, although I haven’t rlly commented on ur vids, you’ve always been my comfort, positive yter to watch. every time you post it gives me a sense of safety and thank you for everything x
the culture is so beautiful
Seeing you travel with your grandma just made me tear up man... The smile and happiness on her face reminded me of my grandma who passed away last month. She wasn't the best but I did grow up with her and I missed her so much. I never expected I would feel so sad if she died but I guess you miss your family no matter how toxic they are... I wish I could travel with my grandma (dadi) like this. Anyways love your vlogs and you Mai💛
