31. Literacy Leader: Using Your Special Education Data Report (SEDR) to Improve Reading Outcomes
This session will be geared towards administrators/educators who oversee and/or influence the K-12 literacy program within their Local Education Agency (LEA). Attendees will explore and/or be exposed to the most recent Pennsylvania State Educational Data Report (PA SEDR), as well as, their own respective local State Educational Data Report (SEDR) in order to address and/or interpret their current/future needs regarding programming for students with disabilities. Additional guidance and/or resources will be provided to support Individual Education Plan (IEP) teams and overall student success.
Nichole Kopco has been an Educational Consultant with the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN) in Harrisburg since April of 2014. Nichole has 25 years of special education experience in public education, 18 of those years have been in a leadership capacity. Immediately before coming to PaTTAN, Nichole served as a Director of Special Education for a school district in Somerset County. Nichole’s credentials include Pennsylvania certifications in elementary education, special education, reading specialist certification, special education supervisor certification and she completed her Superintendent Letter of Eligibility requirements in December of 2020. At PaTTAN, Nichole serves as a state lead for the Special Education Leadership initiative, an office lead for the Special Education Law initiative, she is a Literacy initiative team member and she supports IUs 8, 10 and 11 as the PaTTAN Point of Contact (POC). On a personal note, Nichole enjoys spending quality time with her family including her wonderful granddaughter, Gwendolynn.
