This is what a real president sounds like.
True!
You mean what a real vegetable sounds like?
as a Berliner i was 7 years old when Mr Reagan came. Seeing this today its hard to hold my tears back
If anyone happens to be looking for this, the "Tear down this wall" quote is at 11:58
+Tony Vasi looking for that... thank you
Thanks :)
"Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate"
probably the most iconic speech of all time.
For those wondering. He says "there is only one Berlin" in German
A great man. A true leader. THANK YOU, MR. REAGAN! I am а young citizen of the Republic of Bulgaria, which was a part of the Eastern block. Thank you for ending the era of communism in Europe, thus bringing freedom to all Eastern countries. Thank you!
I was a democrat voter at that time. I dismissed his speech when I heard him say tear down that wall, because it was just a speech. I didn't realize that Gorbachev would actually listen and actually implement it. I thought words wouldn't make a difference. I was wrong.
+Ted Baxter It wasn't just words, although words spoken with conviction can change things in some cases. It was also that we were in an arms race with the USSR that they couldn't match. This contributed to their collapse.
I will NEVER understand liberal's hatred of Reagan......
You know, a lot of politicians go up to the podiums and claim to support ideals such as these. But Reagan embodies them. He speaks honest to goodness what he believes. He knew how to play politics, and he knew how to keep our country free. He wouldn't take crap from anyone, yet at the same time we was willing to sit down and discuss peace. Thank you, President Reagan.
+Lizzie Mercy Preach it, Sister!!!
“There is one sign the Soviets can make that would be unmistakable, that would advance dramatically the cause of freedom and peace. General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization: Come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” - Ronald Reagan, June 12, 1987
ua-cam.com/video/5MDFX-dNtsM/v-deo.html
+ReaganFoundation They advised Reagan not to say that. But Reagan, the head strong conservative he is, said it anyway.
Ronald Reagan is my hero , he is America's hero
Thank god for Ronald!
+ReaganFoundation G-d bless America, the land of the free and the home of the brave(c)!
yeah we know. we just watched the video
I am by no means a Republican - but this is one of the greatest speeches by any President ever. The "Tear down this wall" part had me in tears.
me and my wife were there. we lived in Berlin form 1985-1988. we need a president like Reagan again.
"I believe the best social program is a job" -Ronal Reagan
He was the last politician I actually cared about, because he cared about something more than getting himself re-elected. He had the guts to stand for something. I miss him.
Its sad beyond words that I have to go to UA-cam and watch a video from the 80s to be reminded what America once was. Strong, proud, prosperous, freedom for all. I can tell from most of the.comments I'm not the only American who wants a real leader like this man. I damn near ache in my bones I want real American, constitutional leadership so bad.
Does anyone have any footage of the 21 gun salute firing when he arrived that day? I was on one of the salute guns.
Back when presidents had backbones
And the Wall came tumbling down.
Now that is a real president.
I love the fact that he addresses Gorbachev specifically. That really gets, me he calls out one man to change this.
This is why he was one of the GREATEST presidents ever! I love him!
"East and West do no mistrust each other because we're armed. We're armed because we mistrust each other." Reagan was as much a politician as he was a poet. That speed does more than communicate, it's a work of art.
One of the best presidents in US history.
Rip Mr Reagan. He was one of gratest man from all the time.
Danke Reagan!!!
This is the first presidential speech that I remember. I will never forget that moment. President Reagan will always be my President!
An Actor Made President. Nobody would have guessed he could become so Incredible. A Truly loved American President.
God Bless Ronald Reagan. You Sir were a GREAT President!!!
*Sigh* Anyone remember when we had leaders willing to confront and defeat evil?
I'm a Democrat and I love Ronald Reagan. I don't agree with everything he stood for policy-wise, but he's very likable.
The DNC isn't the party it once was. The DNC has been hijacked by radicals who the former patriototic Democrats once fought from imposing their Bolshevism.
Same here man
HE WAS ONE OF THE MOST TRUTHFUL PRESIDENTS AMERICA HAD...R.I.P. PRESIDENT REGAN 🇺🇸
Mr. President, the Free World misses you! Today, more than ever before...
Vadigor - There are 8 seconds of audio that was missing from our archival betacam video tape where this video came from. We apologize for any inconvenience.
A great speech, for a great cause, with a great line, by a great hero.
President Reagan, please come back and fix our beloved United States
This was a historic speech because President Reagan spoke truth as he foretold the dying of communism without insult or condescension. At a time of descending economies he brought hope to the German people as well as to all the world. We need a Reagan today more than ever.
This speech sends chills down my spine. All done by a true American hero!!
Will be remembered as one of the most positive personalities of the 20th century. Respect! Salute!
This'd have to be his most memorable speech. BRING BACK REAGAN!!
[OFFICIAL] xP4NC4K35x With all of the perks of today's science and technology, I'm sure they can find some sort of way of resurrecting him.
+Stu Pidity I wish we could
Our nation was surely blessed by Reagan 's service as our President.
Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall."
This man was feared on the world stage.
Our current president is laughed at.
Reagan is one of my favourite US Presidents. His memorable quote-"Tear down this wall"- is spoken at 11:59-12:04.
I'm 13 years of age,I think president Reagan was the best republican president America ever had!
On one was better; Abraham Lincoln
How about Lincoln?
Commemorating 30 years! Reagan's speech echoed far and wide, the enduring truths of liberating freedom!
one of the greatest speeches of all time
Amazing speech of all time. RIP Reagan....
President Reagan was one of the best Presidents we ever had since President Kennedy.
How have we gone from the great Ronald Reagan to Hillary, Bernie and Trump? How? How?
The most powerful thing a president could ever say in a single speech.12:03
Such a great man, as a kid born in Northern England in 1977, growing up reading Marvel comics and savouring all the great american movies of the 80's and music and art etc, i feel blessed to of had such a fantastic man at the helm. As i reach the age of 35 and being a loyal father and husband, only now does his work really make sense. Thank you for all the wonderful memories Ronald and family.
25 years ago now, and yet this speech is still just as inspiring as it was the day it was given. I always recall the Mahatma Gandhi quote: 'When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall - think of it. Always.'
At exactly 12:00 in... "Mr Gorbechev, Tear Down This Wall." That's the good part.
Reagan is my hero.
One of the best PRESIDENT US had ever in history. I'm wondering if US will have Reagan alike President in the future. But I'm still hopping one day we will see one powerful US leader in the future.
The Best Speech ever I saw this speech live as it happen on TV and later that night on the news ... Three years later I went to Berlin in the Summer of 1990 and I was able to go from west to east without a passport it was cool
I LOVE THIS MAN -in my meaning the best president you ever had ...his speeches are better than any film Hollywood ever produced
I almost forgot what it's like to have a real leader as President! A good & decent man who not only loves his country and wants what's best for it's people, but loves FREEDOM for everyone. What we have today is Reagan's polar opposite. God help us.
My high school years. Thank you, Mr. President, for an amazingly powerful speech, with a quote which will echo forever. Peace to you and Nancy. We will always love you both.
Wow, he was amazing!!
11:19
One of the most powerful spoken moments in history.
An incredible and amazing President! I was a teen and remember watching this on tv. This country needs another Reagan in office!
True Americans love this man
If my only duty left in life, is to spread the legacy of Ronald Reagan, then I will do my duty with honor.
I was a teenager in the Carter years. I saw record unemployment, 21 percent interest rates, and high unemployment. I watched as gasoline prices tripled. I saw him disparage the producers of society and reward the nonproducers. Tehn, as if by magic, Carter gave us this phenomenal man, Reagan. Today, I feel eerily like I did in the late 70s, and I can only hope that history repeats itself yet again...but this time, we'll get someone even better than Reagan, would that it was possible...
Now that is an American President!!! Do not be fool by imitations.
Obama has fooled the liberals, but he's not my president
+TheSmartLawyer He is, actually. It's how a republic works.
+Average Bear you're an imbecile!
Tony Slaughter I dunno man.
+TheSmartLawyer right
I still get chills everytime Reagan says to Gorbachev to tear down this wall like he's God forcefully telling Gorbachev let my people go or I'll bomb you to hell. Then the crowd goes wild.
Beautiful speech! I'm moved to tears every time I listen to it. There'll never be another President like Ronald Reagan, bar none!
R.I.P., Ronald Wilson Reagan...1911-2004.
You definitely were A TRUE AMERICAN!
GOD BLESS AMERICA, LAND THAT I LOVE!!!
This man was not perfect but had what our present leader does not have .......a pair of brass ones. God Bless President Ronald Wilson Reagan. We miss you and need someone like you more than ever.
How far we have come since then, and not in an upward direction. Ronnie, we need you now!
habe die Rede auf rias und afn verfolgt .Ich bin Ostberlin . Bin dankbar dass alles so friedlich ausgegangen ist. Danke an alle die daran geglaubt und geholfen haben .
12:00 "mister Gorbachev tear down this wall"
Best president
I'm only 31 but watching this reminds me of what a true president looks like. Not by race or color but content of character. Most snowflakes in my generation will never understand this. Sad.
Those 68 dislikes must be Commies.
Teleprompter or notes,it doesn't matter. The substance of the man behind the podium is what matters. This man has a great deal of substance. You are missed President Reagan.
A real leader.
I thought about this speech when I was at the Brandenburg gate
When I went to Berlin I stood and that exact spot and thought of this speech. Great city and a great country too.
"East and West do no mistrust each other because we're armed. We're armed because we mistrust each other." Reagan was as much a politician as he was a poet. That speech does more than communicate, it's a work of art.
@Dominic Cecy
At 1:58, I think he says: "Ich hab(e) noch keinen Koffer in Berlin" which translates to "I haven't got a suitcase in Berlin yet".
At 9:09, he says: "Berliner Herz (heart), Berliner Humor, ja, und Berliner Schnauze (= berlin dialect)"
I hope I could be of help :)
I was at Bradenberg Gate last summer (May 2010) and the first thing I thought of when I got there was this speech by the greatest President ever. It was just great to see the sight where one of the greatest speeches of all time happened.
Just imagine if Reagan were president right now. Russia would be scared spitless. That's a fact.
I can just see Putin Quivering.
Yeah, but the us would be bankrupt
Haha keep dreaming Why would the Soviet Union be afraid of America when Vietnam was not .
g Are you implying that we aren't now? 17 trillion dollars seems close enough to bankrupt IMO.
dandymcgee *bankrupter :)
Who could possibly dislike this?
25:19 Amen.
I'm a Democrat and an Obama fan, but they were truly the right men at the right time - Gorbachev himself has said, and he's probably right, that the Cold War wouldn't have ended without Reagan, because it would've been politically impossible for a President without Reagan's anti-communist bona fides - even a more moderate Republican, much less a Democrat - to take the steps that led to that Wall being drunkenly danced on two years later.
Every American president contributes to the greatness of America. And I mean every single one of them and I say that in the true form of patriotism.
Let's not forget the Professor Gates incident - where he immediately came out and said that the cops were acting stupidly.
I didnt, read my post
I am 15, and I think Regan was the best president ever. We need a new Regan now more then ever
one of the last times the american public was patriotic, today they are waving soviet flags.
''ALL MONEY WILL HAVE OBAMA ON IT! IF YOU DON'T USE IT!, YOUR RAAACIST!''
Ben Weber OMG, a country full of Kool Aid drinkers
Thanks for Regan's speking! I wish China: tear down the Great Fire Wall!
Truly an amazing speaker. Many thanks for uploading the entire speech.
Why would you dislike this?
Obama lovers dislike this video
Bernie disliked probably. Hate that socialist
GREATEST PRESIDENT EVER,my hero,,,A TRUE AMERICAN
Ronald Reagan made it possible for his successor Barack Obama to deliver a speech on the other side of the Brandenburg Gate 26 years later.
Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!- Ronald Reagan 1987
I am going to build the greatest wall!-Donald Trump 2016
He was a wonderful president!
greatest speech ever written. perfect example on how masterfull words can bring down a wall..
22 people are Obama supporters.
President Ronald Reagan = Greatest Speech Ever!
Please, God, raise up another future President like Mr. Reagan! Quickly!
God Bless You, Mr. Reagan. There'll never, ever be another President like you who kept this country strong & on the right track. R.I.P., Sir!
Thank you for your reply, it is unfortunate that the recording is missing a segment, but it's still amazing that this video is out there in full. Many thanks again for uploading such a powerful piece of history.
So powerful, I was a young elementary school boy in America, almost utopia like growing up upper middle class , considering the present situation is completely foreign . Oh well, it was great while it lasted! Reality bites right
So glad to hear from folks who he genuinely had the same impact on in other countries.
still puts chills down my spine
I miss voting for this man!
A great day, indeed.
