- Leaving our camp on the Oconee River in Georgia. Heading towards Florida to find our first camp in the state. We find a nice spot on Holmes Creek. The camp is on Florida Water Management District Land. It is a free camp with a 7 day limit. A reservation is required to camp.
*My name is Brian. I started living full time in a self built camper van in 2014 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. I hit the road full-time in 2015 to pursue seasonal work and travel around the U.S. I find free camping on public land and enjoy photography, hiking, biking, and kayaking in nature. That chain saw is excellent. I have one for my camping trips in the High Country here in Victoria, Australia. You can cut a log as long as the bar quit easily.
That is a nice peaceful drive. Love the old buildings. Great spot for a week. Lunch looked perfect. Enjoy! Be safe. 😊👍

I got one of those ryobis for my rv after getting trapped in the woods after a tornado last spring around Cleveland TN. It cuts like a toy almost but will definitely help clear a road and work up a pile of firewood

You are so lucky to be in Florida right now. We had a dusting of snow last night here in Wisconsin roads where slippery. so some nice warm weather right now would feel great . Again everything looks great on your travels. ocala national forest is a great spot. i recommend hopkins prairie off of fr33. youve got a good chance of seeing a bear

Instead of the 10" chain saw, consider a Reciprocating Saw with a 10" blade. Doesn't need oil and is smaller. Good for trimming wood pieces.
He already has the saw so he might as well use it.

Good idea. Blades are cheaper than a chain and you don't have to sharpen the blades like a chain saw.
I disagree the Ryobi chain saw is a heck of a lot more useful saw. Not only for fire wood but to get a tree out of the road and such. All he needs now is a sharpener and the chain will last a good while.

i got the black & decker chain saw on clearance and it worked so good that i got the dewalt 20v one, they work pretty good for small jobs

Enjoyed my time in FL last winter. Check out Ocala National Forest if you get the chance. I've been working in the panhandle and LA on hurricane recovery this year but did get to TX beaches on the holidays. Safe travels you two.
I have the Ryobi 40V system chain saw, and one thing I've noticed about the smaller bar saws is that the chain blades need sharpening more often than their longer bar, gas powered cousins. This is why I always keep a couple of extra chains in hand. The best thing about them is how quiet they are!
I camp mostly in the Fl Water Mgmt Districts in SW area. They maintain their camps very nice. Before Covid it was hard to get into some because they were crowded, but this year very few people. my last 3 times camping I was by myself. I do hope you find Potts Preserve on Hooty Rd. (there are 3) but the one on Hooty has s field of cypress trees and stumps as far as you can see. It is hidden behind the 1st group camp at the gate. People drive by and never know it is there. It is so beautiful I can hardly take my eyes off it. I guess I will see in your future video's. Even if you don't I hope you 2 enjoy my state while you are here. Juniper springs is the best kayaking. It's 7 miles and challenging. Spend the money and rent one from them. Yours wont make it. I lost my go pro last time going down. lol Still was worth it.
your welcome they are listed under watermatters dot org. you just sign up and make reservations. one thing you do need to watch is they all are gate coded. they change the codes often and they send the change via email. that way your not stuck out the gate after house. BTW I said south west. but there is also a south east area. the water matters is state wide but it is divided in sections. Each section you sign up a little different but it tells you how. Fla is only 200 miles wide so they are pretty close together.
Those little anole lizards are all over Florida. Since they're cold blooded he/she was enjoying the warmth of your hand.
They’re almost extinct now, used to be everywhere.An invasive breed from Cuba ( so it’s said) has decimated hem.
