I'm just starting out figuring out how to make patterns. Most of it seems to be common sense mostly. I've been searching for days trying to figure out the proper way to make the shoulder come together. This is BY FAR the best video I've found. My search is over! Thank you so much.
Thanks a lot Rick! I'm so glad I've been able to help! Good luck with the rest!!
That "walking the sleeve" technique is everything I ever wanted to know. Amazing tutorial, super quick and no unnecessary talking like usually in sewing tutorials, just the good stuff! Thanks so much!
You're killing me with these tutorials! It is so easy to understand and I want to put all my things aside and start drawing :) Hope to do so soon, Thanks xx
I really do hope you do start! It's great being able to design your own clothes!
Oh I will! just need to figure some things out first. I want so much to learn design my own clother)))
Girl, you just saved my life. I have been sewing skirts for a while but i never knew how to make a blouse and sleeves by my measurements. I am so grateful and thankfull to have found you. I am your subscriber now ❤
Really, really good tutorial. Easiest and most thorough I've found!
This is, hands down, the most comprehensive and easy to follow sleeve pattern tutorial on youtube! And all the troubleshooting techniques and that accent... to die for! Thaaaaank you! 🤗🤗🤗
Hi Elewa thanks for the videos. How did you come about point C? I didn't get the cap height part.
Thanks for the great tutorial. I will be trying this out asap. If you have a flexible curve ruler you can walk it aroun the armhole and sleeve opening to check if they match. I got mine for less than $10 at Joannes. With a sale or coupon it would be much less. Doing it that way you know how much more or less you need to fix the sleeve.
You're one of the best things I've discovered on UA-cam 😻. Drafting patterns using the method I've been taught is tedious. Can't wait to try your methods. Thanks for sharing 😚
If the video is for beginners, slow down.
B.Wellmon Exactly. It's terrible
This was awesome clear video! I am learning to sew and drafted a t-shirt and I could tell my arm pattern was not right. Thank you for showing how to draft it and check it for accuracy and adjustments. Thank so much!
Thank you and God bless. 🤗
Remember if you are going to reduce the sleeve cap like that, you will also reduce the width of the sleeve, so adjust as needed. Thank you, that was very helpful.
Thank-you for this!!!! You have just saved me from pulling out my hair!
Another great tutorial. Just have a couple of questions. You say you choose the adjustment technique according to the sleeve type. Can you give some examples of the kind of sleeve you would use for each technique? And do we add seam allowance? Thanks.
Hi! If you wanted to make a shirt or a coat or something, they usually have cap heights that are quite high. T-shirts on the other hand have shorter cap heights. There's a great article that explains it better here: www.ikatbag.com/2014/03/subtelties-in-drafting-sleeves.html
Also, yes you need to add seam allowance :)
Elewa, thanks for the link. I'll take a look.
You offered up a fabulous Sleeve drafting tutorial! Love your straight forward, simple (but thorough) explanations for what you're doing. Thanks!!!
I would like to raise the height of my armhole *without making my sleeve narrower*, so that I can lift my arms higher without problem, since I will not be using a stretchy fabric.
How can I adjust the sleeve or bodice pattern to raise the armhole depth under my arm to allow for lifting my arms higher up?
Thank you very much for your reply in advance, and thank you for making the video.
Best tutorial EVER!!!!!!! Thank you for all of your amazing vids!
You lost me after we had to divide the bicep circumference by 6... but I’ll keep practicing. Other than that this was by far the EASIEST tutorial I’ve come across. Thank you.
Thank you! What’s the usual distance from the sleeve head to the bicep line?
Such a great tutorial, thank! In terms of fit, is there much of a visible difference between extending/shortening the cap height or changing the bicep width? How come you prefer to adjust through the bicep?
Thanks!!
Ur videos are excellent.
You are too good .
Thank you for making such a knowledgeable videos.
How do I divide the bicep by 6 separate points? Kind of confusing. I know I don’t divide the whole side by 6 so I don’t get what you mean lol.
- Thanx 4 sharing. VERY helpful way to make adjustments.
Hello! Very helpful compared to other vids. Took me a lot of vids before understanding what should I do with the sleeves. Thanks to you!
Thank you Elewa, Iove your tutorials. Can you please show how to draft a bustier top with yoke and extended shoulder? Thank you
this was fantastic! quick and easy to follow :-) you even made a little mistake and showed us how to adjust it....brilliant!
Can I substitute something for the French curve? 😅 We don't have any here and it's still locked down here :'
Thank you. 🤗
Thank you. 🤗
I'm wondering, when should you use method one over method two for making adjustments?
This was super useful!! Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!!!
Your work is just easy and perfect .
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Clearest, most concise explanation on this I have seen yet. Thank you.
holy shit thank you, ive been combing through youtube for hours trying to wrap my head around this, you made it sooo simple and easy like it should be !
Great tutorial! And extra thank you for showing us how to adjust the pattern. I’ve never gotten it just right on the first go!
What do you do if the front is too long and the back is too short? Can you offset the middle of the cap towards the front?
This tutorial much more easier to learn & follow. Others i found is complicated
Hmmmm, I might can use this to salvage a shirt I messed up at the arm hole. Great tutorial 👏🏼
Thank you for explaining it ckearly.
Thank you so much! Sub, like, pin ... all done ;) Keep up your excellent work!
this is brilliant but I think too much quick for me but I enjoyed it
Can't hear you over the thumping music.
Feeling so grateful Elewa. Thanks.
You're welcome :)
This is very informative thanks you.
Brilliant and simple to understand, thank you . Now I can see how to alter the sleeve to fit my new armhole.
i had this project I was working on but was ready to give up because I couldn't get the sleeves, I tried various tutorials but they weren't very helpful, but THIS!!!!!! it is just so clear, I think i'm gonna try again thank you.
Thank you Elewa! Your tutorials are very helpful & easy to understand to a beginner in pattern making like me. 😘
I'm glad you're able to understand them!
Thank you!! I was struggling, but now my custom t-shirt sleeves are perfect!

Thank you Elewa this is THE BEST sleeve drafting tutorial I've found - easy and it works, I've used it several times.
Loud music just killed your video
Thank you so much. It was clear 😁Explained very well.
Your channel is awesome!!
Too difficult for a beginner!
😍😍😍😍😍👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Best I've seen so far so easy to understand
hi from new zealand :) this is the BEST sleeve tute i've come across so THANK YOU!
One question though, when making the cutting adjustments to the sleeve cap or bicep, how do you how much to measure out or in when re-tracing to fit the bodice? hope that makes sense? Thanks again xx
The best and the easiest on the internet by far!!!!!! Thank you very much. God bless you!!! Love it ❤
Yesssss I know thankx for ur info,
Thank you!!!!! For excellent teaching on this tutorial on drafting sleeves for armhole it help me have confidence in having sleeve!!!!!!
Hey Elewa, thanks for educating us amateur dressmakers! I'd like to know how to make a straight sleeve into a fitted one. I can't seem to find an instructional article or video to show me how. Would you help me please?
Hi Elewa. Thanks for the tutorial, so nice. Pls how do you know if the upper part of the sleeve cap will fit properly? What I mean is The upper part of the sleeve cap when it is getting closer to the shoulder. Thanks
The walking the sleeve method should confirm whether or not it will fit. Or you can start pinning the sleeve to the bodice from the top and work your way around the front and back.
Elewa thanks for your quick response. I'm not talking about the walking of the sleeve. I'm referring to the fitting on the actual human arm around that cap. I make custom clothing and when I have taken the person's arm measurements and they are gone I want to be sure the sleeve will fit them at the cap area when I draft the sleeve pattern. How do I check this on the pattern? Or is it that it will always fit the person's cap area if I use this your method? Thanks
Mojisola Koretimi
Such a good question she did a good tutorial but I hate when they had random measurements without telling you where they got it from, if the measurements of the points were taken directly from the persons measurements or the bodice measurements it would probably eliminate the need to adjust it in the end.
Thank you for the tutorial, now I have finally got a sleeve pattern done!
Just what I was looking for, clear and concise. Thank you, you are a big help
Wow this is incredible ! Your pace makes it very approachable
Measuring the hand instead of wrist. So clever!!!
Where did you get you’re ruler from ? Can you put links to you’re kit ? Thanks
I love your tutorials. I have a request though, please help me figure out how to create the sleeve based on what I have already have for the arm holes on the bodice. For example let's say I want the armhole pattern to start 2 inches away from the neck for a more dramatic look, instead from the neck to the end of the shoulder.
This worked for me SO well and I just wanted to thank you for posting this and being so detailed. I was making a custom jacket and had no clue how to make the sleeve work till I watched your tutorial. Thank you!!
Very easy to understand the technique..... Love it..
please draft patterns for different kind of sleeves
Youre videos are so easy and simple to understand, especially for someone starting out with patterns. Thank you so much! Keep it up :)
Great instructions.
All three of your tutorials are excellent and so so easy to understand. Thank you so much.
Hi...can you explain how to measure the cap height? Thanks
I've seen so many of these tutorials, but I think yours is the best!!!!! Thank you!!!! Thank you!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!
Way too fast
Great clear video, easy to follow. Thank you.
Thank you so much
As a beginner I love your tutorial video but it is a bit fast for me. Thank you
Thanks so much!
This was easy to follow and just what I needed to design a sleeve for dress I am making from a pattern that is several sizes too small.
Thank you!
This was incredibly helpful!
Wow this tutorial is so clear! thanks so much for sharing!
excellent!
Thank you for this tutorial. I learned how to make the sleeve pattern and it worked beautifully!
I have been trying to understand how to add sleeves to my sloper for 17 years! Can't wait to try it.
One question though. Will this work for shoulders that slump forward? Thanks
It should do if you are just moving the shoulder point forward from the back bodice to the front bodice. But why don't you test that out as a toile/muslin or some scrap fabric?
Thanks. You explained everything really well.
Thank you so much, you solved my problem. God bless..

I only found your channel last night. I am so excited I did! this is what I have been seeking for 14 years now. You make it so very easy to comprehend the instructions you give. I can't wait to begin drafting my own patterns. God bless you always.
14 years is a long time to wait but thanks for waiting! Hopefully your pattern drafting road is a straight one! Good luck!!
Thank you so much . Very clear concise instructions 😊
I find this video to be very helpful. Thank you.
The best sleeve drafting tutorial!
Could we see how it fit once you sewed a garment?
Wonderful. Just what I needed. Thank you so much xx

This is perfection dear
Thank you so much for teaching us how to adjust it :*
