Happy Birthday Freddie, lovely goldfish. When we were kids we built a pond it was no deeper than 2ft a best we had goldfish for years no pumps or filters but did have oxygenating plants the fish will live through the winter if it is deep enough.

OH Wow! That's great, i think the plan is for me is to do a temporarily tank in the greenhouse for them to go in and the should be warmer, i also want to put a little heater in there.
