US AND THE ROAD - A Trinity Collection (on 8-track)

If there's any of their song titles that describes the four Trinity band members best, it's the one telling us they are always on a journey: Us And The Road.
The three Smelt brothers, Johan, Elbert and Niek, grew up in Peru as Dutch missionary kids. They moved back to the Netherlands - litterally the other side of the world - when they were still in primary school. This left them displaced in some way, not really belonging in the Netherlands, but also becoming more detached from their Cariño Latino Peru by the day. They reminisced about their childhood time in Peru and the kids songs that came with it, such as Girasol.
In highschool they met their friend Bert Bos with whom they formed the band Trinity. When they came of age, they went back to Peru to reconnect, driving around in a 4x4. God Moved Their Hearts for the misery in the slums of Lima, where they tried to bring a bit of hope through their music. Eventually they would become ambassadors of the Tear charity.
Their world citizenship gave them that unique international Wereldvreemd (unworldly) outlook on life that only fellow migrants can really appreciate. It inspired them to go on many travels to places most western people don't care to visit, where they found that even in dire places there are people that Won't Be Moved, because God walks by their side. Their music picked up Sonidos from wherever they went, and they met lifelong musical friends along the way. After a decade and a half, they were finally rooted enough in the Netherlands again that they can truly say it’s Mooi Hier, a Dutch way of saying they love it there.
Even their faith went on a journey from a rocksteady Fiesta Celestial through a crisis wondering why exactly We Are Born. Yet, God kept nagging them with a homesick feeling in their soul that left them wondering Are You…? until they realized that God can be a certainty and yet a mystery at the same time. They just needed to jump into the river of faith and have themselves Carried by it. So that’s what they did, while singing their Songs of Life and creating heavenly parties, because they were Made For This.
This compilation attempts to take you on the musical journey that this truly remarkable group of people has been on all their life. Will you join them?
