    Have you ever tried stuffed French toast? Slice your homemade bread thin, place the cream cheese & blueberries in the middle, & cook it like you normally would. Tastes the same but is just kinda fun! I saw your video the other day about expensive sweet potatoes. I scored about 50 lbs of them for 39c/lb after Christmas. I’ve been busy dehydrating. So wishing I had a freeze dryer! Have a great day! Bless Aaron & your family for what you’ve given to our country. Glad you are having more energy. Don’t push it, please!

      Hi Debra!! Thank you so much for being here, and your family’s service.
      We are in a much better place now- we have more good days than bad. We are navigating life outside the military. It’s been a stressful stretch of years😅 But we are rising up each day and loving this little life and grateful for the obstacles we have the opportunity to overcome🥰

    Persistence, persistence, persistence is the way to go with the VA. It will be worth it in the end. It took my husband a lot of running from one appointment to the next to get his 100%. But even though they are slow I have to say we have a great VA clinic in town.

      He is 100% but we are awaiting word about CRSC- its combat related specialty compensation. He submitted electronically then it “got lost” and wasn’t attached to his file. We waited for 34 days and others were getting theirs in 28 days. So we finally investigated and now we have to wait 30 more days and it was a punch in the gut to Aaron. So much waiting for answers over the past 4 years in this medical retirement- they have strung him along long enough. We are ready to be done with the processes and move on with life, but we have to stay here until his re-eval- and that was another hit. We thought we would have moved nearer to “home” by now. I’ve been saying for years that we are moving- but it’s the old “hurry up and wait” they still have a leash on us. 😅🌻🌻🌻

    Thank You for your service and I send positive and healing thoughts to you both!!! You have such a beautiful family that you have both raised with such love. I tell my son in law this that there are so many children that do not want their dad's to come home from work or spend because time with them because they are mean. My grandson loves his dad so much he spends so much time with him he always has a job they are working with him on in the shop. He has his own electric safe yard tools to help ( and his own push mower) he is six!!! He helps do everything because it is done as a family he also helps his grandmother who is Mennonite in her big garden he knows what is what and is a big help. She watched him for my daughter until he started school this year he loves school and he was way ahead because his grandma did preschool and we all did learning threw life cooking etc...but time is love and that is what children will remember. The little arts and crafts the trips to the beach the picnic's the playgrounds not the fancy expensive things.

    • @RowesRising
      @RowesRising  7 місяців тому

      I agree. We try to provide experiences and time together. I think at times our kids think we are mean but we set boundaries for them that they don’t always appreciate- especially the older kids😅 We tell them they will appreciate the structure when they are older. As a child- I had no structure. My parents divorced and my mom couldn’t handle single motherhood. So she left us alone all the time. She was gone for days and weeks at a time. We didn’t have anyone to tell us to eat, turn offf the tv, study, go to school, wash our clothes…. We were left to our own devices at my children’s ages. I cannot imagine abandoning my children like my mother did us. She did the best she could. I suffered as a result of her choices. So, I take extra care so my kids never feel sad like I was as a child. 🌻🌻🌻

    Make pillows out of the old uniforms.
    Med-retirement allows you and the children CH 35 education benefits up to 42 months I think (college, vocational schools).
    Your husband is entitled to VR&E, it is like the post 9/11 GI Bill. I used my VR&E up to a master's degree. I was paid monthly BAH while doing online college for four years. Now i am using my post 9/11 for my doctorate, and have 3 more years of monthly BAH.
    When i was forced into med-retirement (18.5 years), i was worried about the income situation at first.

    • @RowesRising
      @RowesRising  4 місяці тому +2

      Thank you for your service.
      And thank you for spelling that all out for those that read the comments. It’s important information. It’s a shame how many former service members go without benefits they are entitled to simply because they aren’t informed.
      We are already taking advantage of the benefits. Aaron is using the Chapter 31 l/VR&E for his schooling right now. They are trying to get his PGA program covered in lieu of getting another bachelors degree in the program he really wanted. He has had to jump through hoops and they made him settle on this degree- that he didn’t really want- but he wanted the funding and BAH. He is finishing his first bachelors degree this summer. He was going for his masters and doctorate- but is waiting to see if they will cover the PGA certification situation first. After complaining, he NOW has a new counselor willing to help him get his training/degree preference funded through VR&E. His last counselor pigeon holed him to one degree program for physical therapy. It was very frustrating and Aaron lost a session of school time because of that guy. If they won’t fund his PGA we will re-evaluate his path forward. He also has his post 9/11 he can use when all else runs out. Pretty awesome. More folks should serve 4 years to fund their education.
      Thankfully we had been learning all about med retirement benefits and the other options for the past 10 years when the neurologist recommended a MEB- the MDs spouse was my friend so he did us a solid. We asked that he not submit for it at that time because Aaron wanted to push through and try to finish his 20 year career. Here we are with him med retired anyways despite trying to push through.
      He just got his CRSC approved. So he is finally able to let go and move on, he feels a bit more secure. The weight of the world has been lifted after this MEB- just one more eval in July and we can move away from all of his providers and closer to “home” where our extended families are.
      It was stressful but we can finally breathe-17.5 years service.
      Thanks for watching.

      VR&E has a program called, Retroactive Induction. This program will give back the months used under the Post 9/11. I used a good portion of my Post 9/11 for college first, then transferred to VR&E to complete out my degrees. Under the Retro Induction, my Post 9/11 months were reset back to 36 months once I completed the VR&E (Veterans have to apply for Retro Induction through their VR&E counselor). Also, when I completed the VR&E program, they gave me two months worth of BAH for just completing the program. When you measure your monthly income through the lens of "revenue streams", it makes since to add an extra $900-$1400 a month in revenue stream by going back to school as a Veteran, not to mention if the veteran or dependent hasn't achieved a bachelors degree they are eligible for the pell grant (another revenue stream).

    Katie, just wanted to offer you and Aaron words of encouragement. My boyfriend was medically retired at 24. Life was very hard for him especially early on with his situation - emotionally and everything else. He is doing so well now. Eventhough the VA gets a bad rap (sometimes earned), keep jumping through their hoops. Try see their appointments as just one more thing that needs to be done, just something to check off a list.

      Have u tried highfat? Animal fats.
      Usually quality all meat & eggs helps heal GI too
      Slowly titrate the fat n eat cold. Or at least rm temp. Stops chance of diarrhea or tummy hurts as ur adapting.
      Cold butter, tallow, beef renderings, etc

    • @RowesRising
      @RowesRising  7 місяців тому

      @YeshuaKingMessiah I have recurring pancreatitis and apparently animal fats cause more inflammation and stress to my pancreas- and we eat local farmed meats and eggs. I have been trying to reintroduce slowly but I keep having bouts inflammation and pain. Further complicated by the fact I cannot eat inflammatory foods because of my autoimmune disease. I just want to eat without pain at this point. 🌻🌻🌻

      @@RowesRising isn't that the truth. I know you've done the liquid intake of food I've done it also it's stinks but at least you are feeding your muscles and getting some vitamins and minerals. Try thicker liquid intakes like a yogurt or pudding consistency it's a fake out of being more filling. I did it during a hospital stay only vanilla pudding knowing it was safe and I ate about every 2to 3 hours small portions as too not have intestine stress. Feel better soon Katie your in my prayers

I had a short week earlier in December I didn’t have pain but I barely ate that week. I’ve been having pain for 3 days now after trying to eat more food. I don’t know what to do, or how to get through this over the next year while I await a gastrointestinal referral. It’s been 4 years of pain. I remembered my first episode was prior to getting pregnant with Bodhi. 4 years ago I had my first pancreas attack and we thought it was celiacs or candida overgrowth in my gut and we were wrong this whole time. I have been having gut pain for 4 years and I have been begging my care provider to help me find answers. I have little hope here in Oregon in the health care system. I just want to eat and be a healthy weight. I’ve gotten so thin and lost so much muscle. 😢
