  • I always struggled with turning dawless jams into finished tracks, until I discovered this workflow. For me, the creative process is at its best when jamming on ideas and building loops. The less enjoyable part is figuring out how to take that initial spark and turn it into a track. Join me as we breakdown my workflow for transforming a jam made with the Digitakt and SP404 MK2 into a polished & released track. We'll cover three essential techniques: sequencing, transitions, and mastering.

    * Sequencing: We'll start by taking a dawless 4-bar loop and crafting it into a dynamic 3-minute masterpiece. I'll introduce elements like a B section, ambient breakdowns, and more to elevate the track to the next level.
    * Transitions: Moving into the DAW, we'll enhance our jam's stereo two-track. With synced BPMs between our dawless project and the DAW, we'll add transition effects, additional MIDI synths, and percussion to create ear candy and ensure smooth transitions between tracks, refining our concepts from the jam session.
    * Mastering: Finally, we'll explore a simple yet effective 5 FX mastering chain that can bring any track to competitive volume levels for streaming platforms. Say goodbye to worrying about your track's loudness and hello to professional-grade sound.

Great videos friend. Do you have each separate piece of MIDI outboard gear connected to a preamp to your interface, or is everything daisy-chained via MIDI and brought into your DAW somehow without analog patches?

Cheers! I use a few different routings depending on need. For this, all the synths and Circuit go into a mixer, the mixer goes into Digitakt and Digi + all the audio goes into the SP for sampling/final fx processing.
I've also done a routing where each piece of gear goes separate into an interface but then it loses the SP fx at the end of the chain.
The final routing I'm still going to explore is overbridge on the Digi and then SP as the audio interface of the DAW.
