before anything- WARNING! there are some parts with flashing and im not entirely sure if that would do anything but please be careful!
anyways. im back, this time in pain, so much pain... i started the stream by laughing until i cried and then by the end i was actually crying i cant believe that happened
i hope??? it isnt too abrupt?? i had to take some creative liberties in working around the narration and chatter so i hope the pacing is okay??? i hope you like it??? its currently uploading and i am suddenly hit with a train of insecurity

This brings a whole new meaning to Nott saying “He’s my boy!” near the beginning of the campaign. Caleb has been Nott’s substitute child all of this time.
I always thought it was fun in the way that Nott thinks of Caleb like a son and Caleb thinks of Nott more like a little sister. It's a really fascinating relationship.
When you realize that not only is Nott not a goblin girl. but Veth Brenatto is an anagram of Nott the Brave. And didn’t she use the name Veth earlier on for a day alone in the town as Disguise Self Halfling?

@@LocalMaple I know this is a year old but she did more her code names where Veth, Bren ( spooked Caleb because that is his real name and Nott should not have known it at that time) and the Atto so all together Veth Brenatto
The static over "don't let her anger... It's... It's not about you" PAINS ME. Caleb is full of such guilt over this that he, understandably, won't listen to calming words from anyone.
that part was so well done... I thought it's a messed up source sound at first but when I finally got it it was... so clever...
Something I noticed about Luke and Nott during the episode I think would've been a great attention to detail is that Luke seemed surprisingly apathetic about his mom coming back. It must have been from the trauma and pains of losing both of his parents only for them to pop in and out of his life. I think that twinge of sadness would've been the cherry on top.
i love how cad and molly are similar in the fact that they console and comfort and bring reason to situations

I’m so glad I’m not the only person who realized in Nott’s eyes Caleb was just a replacement for Luke
I don't think "just" is the right word, I think a replacement child figure is a big part of it but it's definitely more than that
She still loves him, but it's clear she had a lot of love that couldn't find it's proper recipient up until this point. Thankfully Caleb was well on his way to healing emotionally (SPOILERS!) when they found Yeza and her original family was whole again. He was strong enough to start supporting himself and had plenty more people to rely on than her.
You know what the worst part about Nott lashing out at Caleb is? Ever since the beginning of the campaign Caleb has been burdened by the guilt of what he did in the past. Of what he was in the past. And yet the rest of the party, especially Nott have been telling him that he is a good person. That he can do good with his life. And now Nott, the person Caleb trusts more than anyone else in the world, has done the most awful thing to him. She has, if for only a moment, validated his self loathing. She has effectively undone all the work she has done with Caleb up to this point. Possibly more. Because Caleb still trusts Nott. But now that trust also fuels the loathing.
It's actually rather tragic: in a moment of her fear and anger for the sake of her "child's" father, she has possibly done irreparable damage to her other "child." Nott's head may cool eventually, but by now the damage to her relationship to Caleb has already been done.
Mm, personally, I disagree. Nott cannot be expected to be gentle with Caleb all the time, and I don't think it would necessarily good for him if she were. Liam has talked about this somewhere in reference to Beau- that sometimes Caleb needs someone to reassure him he's not an asshole, and sometimes he needs someone to tell him yes, he is, so get on with it.
Obviously I wouldn't say that Caleb, as a trauma survivor, should by any means 'get over it', and his reaction to this situation is entirely rational. But so is Nott's- the lives of her loved ones are in danger, and Caleb potentially has information that could help them to be saved. It is unfair to expect her to pussyfoot around his issues when it comes to urgent peril like this, and unfair to expect her to act as his comfort blanket and not have real, human (goblin) (halfling) emotions and reactions to things other than him. The world does not revolve around Caleb. I don't think he doesn't know that, but I think it's important that he is sometimes reminded. It's also important that Nott's world doesn't revolve around Caleb- that kind of exclusive codependence isn't healthy for anyone involved.
I also feel that Caleb often gets (understandably) torn away from the present by his thoughts, and that being told outright to snap out of it may be what he needs to, well, snap out of it.
Sure, maybe Nott's emotions are misdirected in that moment, as Caduceus(sp?) identifies, her anger is not about him. But if anything I think the outburst may be helpful to Caleb in reminding him that she is a person and that sometimes other things come first, and he has to make sacrifices (like reliving some things and sharing info) to that end.
What's more, with the discussions that happen about this and other things in ep 50, obviously Caleb does realise that and come to terms with it. It doesn't seem like he felt put out by Nott's outburst here, he's smart enough to understand it, and if he did, well, right now it's not important, so... 'fuck him'.
(I am not an expert on anything, and I do really like Caleb & Liam. Just my insights.)
@@gus8824 Ah, I never said that either of their reactions was unexpected. But human, or in this case humanoid psychology, is not always rational. Guilt does not care about rationality. Self loathing doesn't care about facts. And if you need any proof that Caleb was affected by Nott's words, I would point to the fact he threw up when she lashed out and pushed him away. People generally don't puke unless they're sick or they're stressed. And somehow I doubt Caleb came down with a sudden stomach bug.
When it comes to low self esteem and extreme self loathing, let me assure you it is a very, very easy slope to sliding down again. All it takes is a little push. And Liam is smart enough and knows human nature well enough to incorporate this into Caleb's character. If Caleb is calm, it is more likely he's simply internalized his emotions again, which if anything is just a sign that Caleb is regressing. So really, only time will tell what the fallout of Nott's "push" is.
@@hfar_in_the_sky I'm certainly not denying that Caleb was reacting in extreme stress to the situation. Nott, his best friend, is being affected by the cause of his past trauma, which he no doubt feels responsible for. He wasn't expecting to confront his past in this way right now, and is obviously seriously disturbed by the connection with Nott, and the realisation that those close to him are being subjected to the horrors he once helped to implement.
All this is true, clear, and understandable. However.
I do not believe that Nott has caused extreme damage to their relationship. Perhaps this outburst contributed a little to Caleb's feelings, but I think that the main cause of his (ongoing) reaction is the situation itself. Caleb is freaking tf out and obviously feels horrible about this all, and how it affects Nott. But I wouldn't say that what Nott says or does is nearly as important as the facts of the situation and the way that Caleb perceives them. His guilt-trauma-fear spiral isn't triggered by her.

She's not 'twisting the knife' - she's simply confirming Nott's words and agrees with Nott's conclusion. You're putting some really mean spirited emotions in Beau that's just not there O.o Yeah, she can be rude and abrasive, but she's not some cold hearted bitch who is out to torment people emotionally

Caleb’s Breakdown completely destroys me. I suffer from anxiety and guilt and to a point where I just throw up or don’t even eat.
It saddens to see my favorite wizard just in this state, along with my favorite duo too.
Okay so the static parts are killing me in the best way, and also including the breakdown in Caleb and Nott's relationship was so clever, especially when you used it to compare both of Nott's motherly bonds. Your artstyle is gorgeous, and I adore the way you draw all of these wonderful characters.
Oh no you cant dot hat to me! A flash of Nott kissing Calebs head! My heart cant take it! I really hope she still keeps her relationship with Caleb! That their trust can heal and maybe even get stronger now that they've opened up to eachother!

I feel you, I did the same thing with season 1, watched a YT video about how awesome Matt is and Sam is, and totally ruined the thing with Vax and Gilmore, and the Scanlan getting mad at the group episode 80 something (trying not to also spoil) I was only on episode 30 at the time. :( ive learned my lesson since.

I love voiceactors or similar voicing women well. Griffin voicing the Director, Lucrecia, in the adventure zone? Always perfect. Travis speaking as Audrey? So good. But Sam? A small goblin/halfling woman who is both the comedic best friend to Jester, and the tragic mother, and the sister figure to Caleb, and the one who challenges Fjord, who is so scared all the time, the kleptomaniac alcoholic alchemist... I have never listened to this and for a moment thought that the voice was anything but Veth's. Thank you, Sam.

Oh my goodness I couldn't stand hearing this on thursday but again and with this awesome animatic? yeah tears WILL be shed on both occasions and I don't care xD. This is an awesome depiction of the scenes and the static/white noise edits were an unexpected addition but they were really cool and added to it greatly, both on how awesome it is and how much it adds metaphorically speaking too! Wow this is just really nice, I'm excited to see more! :3

How do you get more broken up lines like that in your linework instead of smooth ones, it's a style of art I've been really wanting to dabble in, it almost looks storybookesque.
Probably depends on the type of brush/tool used. I'm not an artist, but it reminds of the "crayon" tool I've seen on some drawing programs.
