How long can you “Asian squat”??? Today I’m going to give you a simple step-by-step protocol to improve your ability to do this! . Shout out daimkarin/TT for the opening stitched video!
@SquatUniversity I been lookin for help with this question. I was so proud that I could do this easily. I use to be able to just drop into it fast and get up fast. I would take time(like when I'm waiting for the microwave, or just have a few minutes on me) to practice this multiple times a day, making SURE I don't lose it. One night I felt really confident. But the next morning I woke up EXTREMELY stiff. Like, when I moved I felt it. I've felt this in my neck many times when I sleep wrong, but this was full body. I tried to stretch a little cause I didn't have enough time to do a full stretch, but when I tried to squat, I could hardly get into a 90° angle. I'm confused bc I stretched the previous day and did it. From that day things were starting to ease up really slowly except for my hips. The left side felt it needed to be popped all the time but I couldn't
My shins have always hurt when squatting, but this was unbearable, and I've been looking since to see if it's shin splints or a nerve problem like one I have with my right hand. Ever since I was injured during a race in elementary, my knees recovered but my shins have problems. I don't think my ankle mobility wa the big problem
That's Bull Shit! The ability to squat has nothing to do with race...Western Europeans lack the ability to squat as a result of laziness.. and a lifestyle of it..

It’s because you’ve been able to do that you’re whole life, not to mention you probably have the correct leg length for it, that matters a crap ton. For myself I have long ass legs and I’m a bit more top heavy than I used to be, so sitting in that position for me results in imbalance and falling over. I’ve been working on my ankle mobility but still struggle to balance at the bottom. It’s partially due to the fact that my femur is long and goes way past my center line and I fall backwards. To be able to balance properly I need to curl my torso in too much. I know losing weight will help with my balance in that position but until then tips like this are needed.
I can do this easily but my boyfriend literally can’t physically do this no matter how hard he tries and we’re the same height. His heels always comes up the lower he goes or he loses his balance. As much as I like to think it’s just his limited flexibility stopping him from sitting like this I also just think it’s his build. I get uncomfortable just watching him try😂. We also have very different squats when squatting in the gym. I believe having longer or shorter quads also makes the difference.
@@josephharms5882I have long legs too, but have recently relearned this movement pattern. It took a long time though. Modern lifestyle kills what should be natural for us to experience. @@annipsy2185 do you feel as if you are always fighting to not fall back when you squat? If so your issue may be like mine where you have long femurs relative to your torso.
The Asian squat is also facilitated by the way their hip joints work. Their femur head and collar tend to be more aligned vertically and they lack to impingement in the forward plane of motion. Additionally their legs tend to be less massive so they don’t have to lean as far forward to balance.
Nonsense. There are no such anatomical differences. The difference lies solely in the conditioning of the affected joints and muscles. Western life typically leads to decreased flexibility caused by lifestyle. Westerners are generally not stretching those locations so they are "stiff" and lacking in mobility. That can usually be corrected with a little effort and practice
Yes … I can still do this, just tried it. Been very flexible through my hips etc as long as I can remember and been told I have hyper flexible hip joint. I also can put my he soles of my feet together, pull them into my groin, have the outside of me knees flat to the ground and put my forehead on my feet … I don’t go to the gym although I do keep myself reasonably fit in other ways .. I’m also 54 years old and can do this squat and the other position I just described very easily without any discomfort.
I see u giving all kinds of advice. And this is cool. But can u advise those of us who r older & don't have flexibility in our knees anymore? Or r we just screwed? Thanks
Start by doing some myofascial stretching for the vastus intermedius to improve knee flexibility and some front foot elevated split squats to increase strength.
No old people are not screwed. As long as you are alive, your body will make adaptations. I'll be honest though, it will most likely be slower, stricter, and more calculated journey.
@@TeamYouphoric not trying to be an a hole, but if they don't even know how to squat, everything you just said probably sounds like gibberish. Try some beginner friendly terms
Hi Denise, I think you will find a lot of helpful advice at @thekneesovertoesguy UA-cam channel. He particularly outlines exercises for older peeps that start at a beginner level. You are not screwed at all, plenty of elders changing their bodies and gaining QoL by staying active.
get down on the rug or a mat, set aside 20-30 min a day at first to spend down on the floor, first sitting, then crawling positions, then animal walking (thnk wolves sneaking), weight shifting side to side, front & back. this will warm up your ankles, wrists, knees, hips & honestly it’s about repetition and taking the time. it’s probably the best thing you could do for yourself to relieve pain, add flexibility, prevent injuries, get bloodflow happening, increase longevity but also give you more confidence in what your body can do, which translate youthfully to real world functionality and just how you move through life. I hate to plug my stuff here (😂) but I have a page here on the Tube with tons of videos on mobility/flexibility, etc and have begun to make more and more “completely beginner” vids for peeps just like you. Good luck with your journey and heck no you are never too old to begin moving well😊😊

btw guys, your ability to do this easily is heavily affected by femur to torso ratio. the longer your femur, the more a person has to lean forward to keep their weight through the knees, to the heels.
This mobility is important to everyone workdwide. Equally important is the ability to stand with both feet together then lean over and touch your toes.
I used to have terrible knee mobility. Still not amazing. I started just doing what you showed here every time I was waiting for microwave to finish warming up drinks/food and I've had a massive improvement in mobility. My knees no longer feel like they are exploding while squatting.
It's fascinating! Im asian and i don't know that some people can't do it. I thought it's just normal to all to squat all the way down, except of course if someone had an injury and was very old.
this kind of exercise is to help maintain your body, knees as you age, ask any doctor they will say and explain why it's super healthy to deep squat daily like this as you age.
I am Asian and couldn't do it for more than 40 years. It all changed by adjusting the width of the squats and keep doing them. It is part of my hiit workout. Without realising, the repeated reps for years, my squats got deeper and I can now squat with heels flat.
Easy. I dont know why, Im not sporty at all and 39 years old. But this is a standard, every day movement when cuddling my lil dogs. Sitting like this for minutes. Cant get my knees to touch the floor, hurts like f....I guess because of the years playing American Football as a Center. But the video about core strength in the back helped me a lot!
Most people who regularly do squats can do this. I warm up my legs by doing a deep squat with low weight on. Part of it is rocking back and forth down in that position.

i believe my calf section is very tight. however, when i was a teen, i played many sports, even danced...still could not do it . while my peers that didnt even work out, could. so i think its more than that, maybe for some reason some peoples bodies just cant.
on second thought...my calf section has always just been tight and unflexible 😢
@@annipsy2185 do you feel as if you are always fighting to not fall back when you squat? If so your issue may be like mine where you have long femurs relative to your torso.
it's not just doing the squat itself, it's staying in that position for hours at a time
That is a really useful short thanks, Squat University !
Actually everything about this woman is amazing. Who is this goddess ?
90% of this video was about a man. The girl literally never said a word.
Hes down bad
Lol standard comment for any video with an Asian girl.
A lot of you would die in your own drool if you lived in Asia 😅

@@sickranchez4742i fr would! that asian fetish goes hard😂
@@omegoaAre you saying that there are no anatomical differences between races?
@@omegoaGenetics are nonsense? 😅
Where can I see more of her? ❤
Man, I guess we don’t get an answer
Yes … I can still do this, just tried it. Been very flexible through my hips etc as long as I can remember and been told I have hyper flexible hip joint. I also can put my he soles of my feet together, pull them into my groin, have the outside of me knees flat to the ground and put my forehead on my feet … I don’t go to the gym although I do keep myself reasonably fit in other ways .. I’m also 54 years old and can do this squat and the other position I just described very easily without any discomfort.
So THAT’S WHY Im the only one from my friend group that can squat deep
Good luck with your journey and heck no you are never too old to begin moving well😊😊
Bro, Is it deep squat exercise? i didnt know that, as its our daily routine....
Her body is totally amazing
My God She is So beautiful 😍
As a Slav, we are also able to squat like this. I can sit like this for hours. It's called the Slavic squat...
🇺🇦
Yo what’s her name tho
Real lmao
“yoo I’m a creepy dude on the internet, when I see an attractive girl I can’t control myself. got zero chance. but what’s her details tho”
Bruv she looks like 16 years old. Be careful with these 304 traps. Squat uni this is a bad look. Stick to the knowledge and atleast use better click bait 🫡

btw guys, your ability to do this easily is heavily affected by femur to torso ratio. the longer your femur, the more a person has to lean forward to keep their weight through the knees, to the heels.
Im 39 and i do squats everyday. Its helps a lot for my health.
in india 90% do shit like this at morning 😂
Pure Slavic squad!
I swear if this works you're my hero
That is normal sitting for many Asia cultures, starting young.
Thanks for the tips.
Not me squatting like this in the floor when I scrolled to this lmao
Being a softball catcher, I didn't realize most Americans can't do this, let alone hold it. It just always came natural
Will the pain in my knees stop if I keep trying? because it’s very painful while trying this.
Thank you for the short
Literally watching this video in that position lmao
As a Slav I don't see how it could be problem to anyone
It's fascinating! Im asian and i don't know that some people can't do it. I thought it's just normal to all to squat all the way down, except of course if someone had an injury and was very old.
this kind of exercise is to help maintain your body, knees as you age, ask any doctor they will say and explain why it's super healthy to deep squat daily like this as you age.
Both of my knees are broke now thanks bud!
She has a perfect body
Africans can do this as well. The Hazda is just one group In Africa that regularly does this. 💯
Really like the first part of the video but fell asleep right after that. Kept trying to get through it.
I struggle with this so much
Great ! !
Body goals fr
I feel like I should have travelled Asia rather than Europe in my 20's. That is the perfect figure. Who cares about the squat show us more of her.
As a full time American I can do this but my ankles start to get spasms and then I get a bad Charlie horse
My knee is screaming just by watching this
How that depth is amazing, I can be there like 10minutes and when I do squats with weights I go nearly that deep
I can’t even squat at all, have never been able to get my heels to touch the floor when standing, squatting, or anything😭
I am a 66 yr old male and I can do it…
Thank you for the great videos 👍
It took me 3 years to fully be comfortable with it
Most people who regularly do squats can do this.
I warm up my legs by doing a deep squat with low weight on. Part of it is rocking back and forth down in that position.
I'm canadian and i never work out and i can do this and its honestly very comfortable
I'm 68, I am a cyclist, I stretch everyday. Never actually tried this before. Just tried, not a problem.
This video made me realise I have no ankle mobility like he demonstrates at the start
In between sets of whatever exercise I was doing I would squat down in this form and just stay there for a few seconds. It helped tremendously.
I don't exercise but I can do this , epic
Classic Slavic squat 😎
