👴 Old Composer Reactions 🤘
I Let It In & It Took Everything still holds it's place in my top 5 metalcore albums ever!
yes sir same. so well-written and so expansive.
And the song with the same title is one of my favs off that album. Slaps every time.
@@wearesuarez There's nothing wrong with metalcore as long as you're not elitist.
@@wearesuarez Britney Spearz is depressive suicidal black metal. Get it right, scrub.
@@wearesuarez bro they literally describe themselves as nu metal-styled metalcore
I genuinely find this band to be like the box of chocolates metaphor. You really never know what you’re gonna get. While I can’t say every song on every album resonates with me, they definitely grab my attention with a good chunk off their albums.
the way i think about it you`ll love every song on different days/ moods!
Ayyyy love loathe, they capture some of the elements of that deftones sound that ive been missing in more modern bands.
Just said in the comments but Deftones is another good shout, they really resemble Earthtone9 in their sound and tone, worth a look if you like this.
Kadeem and Erik both switch between singing and screaming. Erik is the guitarist and does a lot of the clean singing. They both do their fair share though. It’s really cool to watch live.
One of the most unique things about them honestly, the way that they piggyback especially on songs like White Hot, it's just masterful synchronisation of both their singing and screaming/growling talent.
@@takoshihitsamaru4675 I swear man.
Loathe is one of my favorite Metalcore crossover bands, I've been listening to them since their first album, I'm waiting for a supposed third album.
Yes there's two singers, but sometimes the singer and screamer switch roles or even both sing, or both scream. The main vocalist is named Kadeem France. The band is from the U.K.
Have you heard their first album, despondent by design? Followed by prepare consume destroy, the cold sun, I let it in and it took everything, and the things they believe... They have quite the discography
Thank you so much for doing Babylon, that is one of my favorite album closers of all time. It always felt like a perfect send off to me.
agreed
Literally! I love Babylon so much. It's so good.
I saw these guys in concert with my daughter. I was familiar with their music and she wasn't. Their scream singer was sick so the clean singer had to do it all. For one song the screamer came in and then there was another band member that sang. Everyone sounded incredible. My daughter looked at me and said " how many singers do they have?" It was sooo good. Glad you're reacting to more Loathe. And I know how much you enjoy ambient. React to Silent Planet, Panic Room. You won't regret it!!!!
Whenever you get around to it, the song that Screaming was leading into, "Is It Really You?", is a must listen
Even tho I Let It In & It Took Everything is their peak for now, Babylon...Babylon is just different
Me personally i love ‘The Cold Sun’ album, but ‘I Let It In…’ album is absolutely unreal is so many levels from songwriting, production, story telling sonically from each song bleeding into the next, from heaviness to the most ethereal songs. They just really showcased everything masterfully and just how prestigious they are. I bought the instrumental version of ILIIAITE, and the little subtle intricacies in production on some great headphones will blow your mind. I had an absolute field day with the things they were doing. George Lever their producer is absolutely unreal (also produced for Sleep Token & Thornhill). Can’t get over these guys
Love Loathe so much, Screaming is my favourite, it's just such a vibe. Live, they do live and die by the sound guy on the night due to them being purely bass + baritone guitars, if the bass frequencies are washed out then the band is gutted as there isn't much in the other ranges (I have seen this happen to them!). A deep dive into The Ocean would me amazing Geebz!
I HIGHLY second The Ocean. They are the kings of atmosphere.
I third this. The Ocean is absolutely amazing. I need to see them live.
@Anthony Rosa yes you do. One of my most memorable shows from last year.
Any recommendations on The Ocean songs? I'm trying to get into them
@Exequiel Bassman yeah thats a hard one lol, they got so much great stuff. I personally love them especially for their album experience, so if u got the time to just throw one on, either of their 2 most recent are great starts. But specific songs, either "Jurassic | Cretaceous", or "Silurian: Age of Sea Scorpions" are both great. Kinda give a brief view of their sound, even tho its a lot more diverse still.
Yo please listen to Thornhill's The Dark Pool, it's an ambient-ethereal metal kinda album.
Gonna see them tonight with Periphery! 🤘
Tuesday for me in STL
@@dash8dr It was a great show. Every band killed it. I haven't seen Periphery since 2017 so it was awesome to finally see Reptile live, but of course that means they only got to play a small handful of songs as an opener.
Also, I had only seen Underoath once before in 2010 when they were without Aaron (and only played It's Dangerous Business from They're Only Chasing Safety) so it was awesome to see some of the classics with him back. Definitely a little nostalgic.
And then Loathe had the perfect mix of the heavier stuff and the "Deftones-esque" stuff.
Its today for me 😁
Loathe commands the stage, saw them play their latest record in full. Incredible musicians!
Loathe's "is it really you" is a wonderful song
Loathe has really grown on me so this was great to see! All of my favorite modern metal bands (Loathe, Spiritbox, Sleep Token, etc) have one thing in common (to my ear): they all have direct musical lineage to the Deftones. A lot of that dark, ambient, experimental sound with the mixing of harsh and clean vocals comes from the Deftones and I love to hear it!
Love this band. They’re like a djenty, metalcore Deftones. Perfect combo imo
One of my favourite elements of the guitarists' tone is the use of baritone guitars. It gives such a thick, meaty sound.
yesss loathe is so good!!! saw them live and they played their latest album in full, one of the best concerts I've seen
This is awesome.
Karnivool slow burn next, please!
I love Karnivool.
KARNIVOOL MENTIONED !!!
I've never even heard of this band, and I don't listen to too much harsh vocals anymore, but I enjoyed this slow burn...ESPECIALLY the last song holy cow that was amazing
Loathe is now one of my all time favorites.
Please keep more Loathe coming! Great video as always KoG 🍻
I am so glad that you decided to listen more of them .
Love from the first time❤
One of the freshest acts out there! Love them.
Great slowburn Geebz!
Hellyeah Geebz! Some of my favorite Loathe tracks on this video, thanks for putting up a slowburn on this band.
Thank you for this one!
loved your commentary and love loathe
You seem such a nice guy. I've watched 30 or 40 of your videos and just wanted to thank you for what you do! 🤘
I appreciate that!
Hell yeah! Glad to see you giving these guys some attention.
My favourite band! Can’t wait to watch this reaction.
I found out about Loathe from your original reaction and they quickly became a favorite! Believe it or not, they made a full length ambient meditative instrumental album called The Things They Believe that's pretty cool to zone out to as well. Love the content as always!
Something really unique about Loathe's first two albums is this idea that the albums actually represent a story with each song being a chapter of said stories, they create something of a place and when you listen to it as a whole with their explanations/rationales, it really starts to paint this almost theatrical performance of what the heck they had envisioned for this. In songs like East of Eden, you can almost hear the characters on the stage reading their lines, multiple characters all playing out a scene.
I Let it in And it Took Everything is a bit less so, but it still has that sense of placement and even in the rationale of the instrumental ambient opening, the band states "you enter into the universe of I Let it in" and honestly, there's no better explanation. Soundscape is their bread and butter and though the band has changed that sound a bit here and there over the years, they still sound like what you think of when you think of Loathe, if that makes sense.
Nice! I look forward to this one 🤘
Hey, not sure if anyone mentioned it but Loathe's latest album "The Things They Believe" is a super chill soundscape album... might be something you'd enjoy for meditation or something similar. I think it's a really cool thing for a band like them to experiment with under their moniker, whereas other bands might release it as a side project instead.
Love for you to check out Aric Improta “Blur Lights in the Videodrome”. It’s a love drum and electronic composition that will blow your mind with at least ten things you’ve never seen on drums before.
I support this recomendation so hard. 40 minutes of glory.
These dudes are a breath of fresh air.
I just saw them for the first time with Periphery for the first time in Indianapolis on Tuesday! Best show of my life!
this band is incredible
Nice!! Really need that Gored and Heavy is the Head reactions but this will do haha
Loathe has a whole album of synth/ambience called The Things They Believe.
Hey Geebz dont slow-burn yourself out! But we'll be always here no matter what happens ❤ Keep it up but take it easy :)
Loathe is incredible
Screaming is so fucking good. I've been listening to it a ton lately, along with my usual deftones and AIC.
They definitely have two vocalists, but Kadeem can flip between cleans and growls, and Erik is mostly seen committing to the growls, but I think on Aggressive Evolution it's actually him singing the cleans. Wonderful band and one of my favorites since I Let It In was released.
If I recall correctly Erik actually does 90% of the cleans on The Cold Sun, ILIIAITE however is more a 50/50 split as Kadeem does most cleans on Two-Way Mirror and Erik does most on Is It Really You?
@@neonjellyshark1368 You could be totally correct there, I just find it much more noticeable in aggressive evolution and two way mirror than in the other tracks because there's a lot more vocal effects and other layered instrumentals on top of the vocals that it's not as easy to tell.
I also just really havent listened to The Cold Sun as much despite being one of my favorite bands. I just really like the mix on I Let It In a lot more and it's more reminiscent of the sort of Alt Metal and Metalcore that I grew up with.
Big fan of loathe, nice!
10:50 "when they started dickin' around with.. erh messing around with time a little bit."
finally someone had a reaction for babylon, its a great song!
Just saw them with Periphery and Underoath last week and they pleasantly surprised me.
song Screaming.... so good!!!
Hey Geebz! I highly recommend checking out a band called Every Time I Die, I think you’ll really dig some of their heavy hitters like ‘Wanderlust’ and ‘Post-Boredom’, and if you really dig those songs like ‘The Moor’ and ‘All This and War’ are really epic as well! A really cool look into Southern Hardcore 🤟
I’ve been bothering Geebz for years about ETID. A slow burn is needed for sure.
Wonderful as always Geebz... Thank you! Thanks also to the community, which always manages to suggest very interesting artists! There is a lot to learn here... and a lot to enjoy!
May I also suggest a band? The Name: "Arise in Stability" The Songs: "Noise Heard in the Moon" and "Madness Gives Rise to Enlightenment". These two Songs are absolutely amazing (others are also). There is a lot to analyze. I can't even describe how unique this band sounds, since they have a anstonishing mix of old and very modern western metal with a very interesting infusion of traditional japanese songwriting (no traditional japanese Instruments). Tney are also very melodic and every single one of these guys is a master of his craft. The singer, for example, has mastered screaming, grunting, singing, scream-rapping, normal rapping and other styles and techniques and often uses all of them within one song. I would love to see a decomposer-session on these guys.
They're so unique
Woooooo! Loathe 🫡🔥🔥🔥🔥
Aw fuck yeah, Loathe slaps
Loathe as one ❤️
It's funny to see Loathe after Vola. Because both Bands use the same Riff on a Song. Loathe with "Dance on my Skin" and Vola with "your Mind is a Helpless Dreamer"
Loathe for life
Seeing these guys tonight with Periphery! 😉
Hey geebz I love your videos and how you breakdown song production and techniques of some of my favorite music acts. I would also like to see you to react to music from a band called “Love Is Noise.” Nik nocturnal recommended them in one of his recent videos and they are very similar to loathe and they just have a beautiful sound and an aggressive side to them as well
They have 2 volcalists in the band. The standalone one and guitarist that does clean vocals
Saw these dudes April 1st woth Periphery and Underoath. They killed it. I know lots of in the crowed didnt really know em and at the end of their set everyone was jumpin. And while Periphery was setting up Loathe was immediately down with the crowed hanging out and taking pics. Insanely great show all around but these dudes are the underoath for sure. Taking the torch.
I remember hearing CAVE IN and their guitar work, and I couldn't believe it was a guitar.. Like not from this planet, was impressive. Give their catalog a try.
You should definitely consider checking out P.U.R.P.L.E by them
CONCEPT album!
i love loathe🥹
best band itw
I was just thinking "hey.. I wonder if Geebz has ever done anything by Loathe?" Boom! This pops up.
I would love to see you react to the entire new tallah album
You gotta react to the new Winger! 🔥
I'm seeing them this summer, can't wait!
Glad you enjoyed the deep dive, give Thornhill a listen for the same vibe but Aussie band. Happy to see so many new bands with deftones influences, Loathe being one of the best! Awwwringht!
damn dude your eyes are redder than mine and im pretty damn zooted rn
this band inspired me to buy a baritone guitar
Loathe uses a 30in scale 6 string guitar and the guitarist does the clean vocal.
I'd be amazed if they hadn't listened to Earthtone9 from back in the day. Not to say the style is ripped but the influence is uncanny.
Some serious Deftones vibes.
Chino is actually the one who got tons of people into the band by tweeting about them.
Also said Two Wy Mirror is better than anything the Deftones ever did.
Indukti - Ninth Wave
hey geebz, audiotree released live in-studio with loathe, any chance of you checking it out on a channel?
Concept album or rock opera I have heard more than project album.
How in the hell have I never heard this band until today?
Bro go through the whole discography, you won’t be disappointed
9:13 loathe in a nutshell
this album is really dark
Hey Geebz, a suggestion: consider not using the red contour for your videos, since UA-cam uses a red bottom line to show if you've watched the video. I don't know for others, but it confuses me and makes me think I've watched your video when I haven't. Stocked to watch a slow born on Loathe!
Ah, thank you :)
I don't know much about this band however I do like the songs themselves. I just wish there was more depth to the overall sound. Like I guess the experimental boundaries that they could go to like going into like an orchestration or some kind of a left field where the listener would have no idea what's coming up like the jazz section or some saxophone or just something out of nowhere to surprise you and really keep you interested in locked in, I'm missing that with this. Even a keyboard would be really interesting. I'm sorry for being critical. I'm trying to get my decomposer ears fired up lol. I do like these tracks though they're just not my favorite..... But the bass is dope 🤘🤙
I think you need to sit and actually listen to an album of theirs all the way through. They have a very distinct pallet as musicians using extended range guitars and using interesting chords and melodies. I would advise listening to their album I let it In and It Took Everything. Plenty use of synthesizers and even acoustic guitars in places. They are not going to randomly have a jazz section or saxophone or whatever. Loathe is a very deliberate band in the way they compose and write music so doing something just to do it really wouldn't fit their vibe. Though if you want to hear a random jazz section in a metal song, go check out Wildfire by Periphery.
Saying that there is a surprise samba-esque section on ‘dance on my skin’
yeah, you're right, their The Cold Sun album is a conceptual album
New subscriber here may I recommend heriot demure I promise you will not be disappointed
Loathe's logo is from another band oajsoajsoajsoj other than that good video
Is this Dj khaled's dad?
Huge fan of The Cold Sun, top tier songwriting & production on that album. They never play it live but P.U.R.P.L.E. is a GOD TIER track.
Imo their clean vocals became too dreary on their 2nd album, the hooks just aren't as memorable for me. I miss when Eric used to belt at the top of his vocal range in the choruses eg Stigmata. Newer stuff feels like their trying to imitate Deftones too much. Not the same band since Connor left.
Regardless of how I feel about the way their sound has changed, fair play to them, they work bloody hard and deserve their success.
You do realize Connor left waaaay after I Let It In came out right?
@@sirdo946 A fair point! There are moments on ILIIAITE that I enjoy, not a bad album for sure and I totally realise I'm in the minority of fans who prefer The Cold Sun. I do think they miss his strange but swaggerful stage presence and wasn't too impressed with the newest single Dimorphous Display though.
I’m not familiar with their discography at all. Were any of these songs from the first album? The cleans on most of these is very cringe for me. Sounds like 2000s generic rock. I actually think that has more to do with the engineering than the performance, though, because this sound is inexplicably everywhere lol (never been able to put my finger on it. Is it fake (or at least fake sounding) harmonies or what?).
@@yhamez37 Stigmata, East of Eden & Babylon are all from The Cold Sun. Aggressive Evolution & Screaming are from ILIIAITE.
@@scribbledcheddar245 huh, interesting. East of Eden is definitely my favorite of these 5 songs. Thank you for the info!

Here ya go :) ua-cam.com/video/BB5BiicF6fA/v-deo.html
@@KeyOfGeebz Thanks!)
this is like numetal/hardcore/experimental @keyofgeebz it's like something newer djent/hardcore bands are doing -- ripping elements of 90's and even early 2000's numetal such as singing like deftones/chevelle/blindside and wrapping that up into djent hardcore/rock theme with also adding this "chill ambient" stuff in there and then trying to turn on the djent sound whenever they need to. I don't really like this band specifically though; it just sounds like they are doing too much here.
Pleeease listen to is it really you and dimorphous display
Man, yet another band with absolutey stellar heavy parts to my ears, but the clean sections just drag it down too much. I never seem to be able to find a band with this kind of sound that just stays heavy (or has good cleans for my personal taste).
This might be the first slow burn I don’t finish. Cheers to everyone else that’s seeming to love it. Happy for you.
you will like some of their heavy tracks live gored, heavy is the head, dance on my skin, banshee, rest; in violence, because they don't have cleans on that tracks
@@fiend265x awesome thank you so much! Lots of bands like this where they have some absolute bangers but I shy away from because I can’t find the good stuff (for me, nothing against the band). This really helps!
@@yhamez37 I recommend you also finish this slow burn, there's one of the heavier tracks but with clean chorus called East Of Eden and pretty enjoyable clean (almost) track called Screaming
@@fiend265x thanks again, finished it up. East of Eden is easily the standout track of the five for me. The cleans are still slightly over the cringe line for me, but it’s limited enough that I can handle it. Screaming is rougher for me. Again I love the heavier and darker elements, but the cleans are a bit too much for me. The cleans don’t sound quite as over processed as in some of the earlier songs in this video at least. Thanks so much for your recommendations.
@@yhamez37 yeah, most of their songs actually sounds like East Of Eden, there's New Faces In The Dark with absolutely crushing breakdown, It's Yours with cool main riff and also crushing final breakdown, or Broken Vision Rhythm with a bit more hardcoreish/old metalcore sound (also 0 cleans), and more... I just want to name all of their songs but i don't think it will help more to understand and appreciate diversity
