Hey all, this video is a tad janky. I wasn't able to get the PNGs to flash with our voices like Drew could on the load video and since this video is time sensitive I don't have the time to send all the files to him so he can do it. Also, the audio editing could have been better, but, again I just don't have the time to labour over the video to make sure everything is perfect. Hopefully, you enjoy regardless. Enjoy, my fellow comrades.

@@dadeleemurphy85 Most definitely Iron Maiden. At worst, 72 Seasons has several boring, 6+ minute songs in a 77-minute album. Senjutsu manages to be boring for its entire runtime of 82 minutes, with all but 2 songs being 6+ minutes. I'd take Metallica any day lmao

  • @JustinHmusic

I feel like Metallica suffers from the same problem as Iron Maiden these days. They’re writing on autopilot with a producer that doesn’t know how to tell them to trim a song down, or tell them honestly when a riff or song in general doesn’t work. If Metallica is going to have any producer, it should be Andy Sneap. If he could bring the best out of Priest and Accept, he could certainly also bring the best out of Metallica as well. #sneapformetallicaproducer

I think that most Metallica fans want so badly to like the more recent offerings from Metallica, that they will go to great lengths to convince themselves that their music is still great and cling on to little tid-bits that reveal a niblett of their former musical greatness! Credit where credit is due: they're still chugging along after all these years and putting out music which isn't easy especially when good ideas run dry and are stifled by modern society who are quick to 'cancel' any artists that dare speak their true mind in fear of offending the masses especially if it doesn't fit certain narratives. When that happens, subject matter becomes limited and uninspiring.
Being a guitarist that grew up on (and learned from ) Metallica (and many others), I also understand that coming up with fresh riffs and leads can also be challenging after 40+ years of material and can be really difficult to top without it sounding recycled. I think they could do well by shortening the songs OR ,at the very least, add more musically interesting harmonies and parts to the songs to showcase their talent and to keep interest in the song/songs like they've done hundreds of times in the past.
I'm guilty as well at wanting to like the new stuff sooo badly but unfortunately.....I can't hear any reason to cling on. When you can't pick up an album and find a reason to listen to it over and over like in the older days of great music....the artists have left the building.

Hardwired is a fucking killer album, but this one is fucking garbage. I thought Death Magnetic was a step in the right direction and they got there with Hardwired. They could've seriously coasted with it and kept touring. I'm a lifelong fan, but I seriously hope this is their last album.

I listened to Death Magnetic when it came out (i was still in high school). I tried listening again a few years later while in College & i couldn't get into it. Never listened to Hardwired in its entirety (heard songs when on road trips with my drummer friend), but never front to back. This album, heard Lux when it came out, enjoyed it. Heard Darkness had a son, stopped after 3 mins. 72 seasons, what an album title...

      @DaCostaGuitars Рік тому

@@ScoopedMids I saw them on that tour too, though Gojira & Lamb of God were the two openers before Metallica, & well my metal direction went well away from Metallica. Though i do have to give props to them being one of the bands that introduced me to metal. I constantly listened (& still do on occasion) to Kill em all, Ride the Lightning & Master of Puppets albums. Just DM was good for its time, afterwards, i had trouble sitting through the first songs, let alone the whole album.

In my opinion this album is a definite grower, at first I really didn't enjoy listening to the singles but enjoyed it all once the album came out
(I guess they flow better with the full package)
But at the full listen for the first time, The only times I actually got hooked was the Slow parts of 72S, Barbed Wires' Intro reminded me of Hardwired's "Here Comes Revenge"
-Room of Mirrors was the first song that I actually got immediately hooked to first listen, Chasing Light's Main riff felt super catchy
So at first listen, the album was okay, until I started to catch myself thumping or humming or whatever, to those parts of the album I actually enjoyed. That's when I gave it another spin and then tried to listen it in alternating orders (No singles), By themselves, etc.
At first I didn't care for this album as a Metallica fan, but overtime this is my most played album within Winter (I came late to the party, my first listen to the album was in June.)
Now I can even say I don't mind Kirk's "eh" solos in most songs here and just groove to them as the song is flowing
(Except Darkness Had a Son solo, that one's definitely the weakest solo but I still can kinda dig it, every other solo (Maybe not Shadow's Follow), I can get behind
If ya want, since Seasons is similar sounding to Hardwired, why not cut the fluff from both albums and make the best of the best?
    Like example
    1: Hardwired
    2: Shadows Follow
    3: Dream No More
    4: Too Far Gone?
    5: Halo on Fire
    6: 72 Seasons
    7: Moth Into Flame
    8: Room of Mirrors
    9: Am I savage?
    10: Lux Æterna
    11: Spit Out the Bone
    12: Inamorata
(Thank Andrey Valenskio for the tracklist)
Just make what songs you like the best and combine the best of both albums and see what clicks for ya
Or you could be like me and try cutting down the album, like the album without the singles
    1: Chasing Light
    2: Shadows Follow
    3: Sleepwalk
    4: You Must Burn
    5: Crown of Barbed Wires
    6: Room of Mirrors
    7: Too Far Gone?
    8: Inamorata
    8 tracks, 54 minutes.
Maybe I'm just easily impressed, who knows. All I know is I prefer Seasons over Hardwired (It's actually faster than Hardwired overall)

"Someone said the lengths are justified on the Load video" 👋
The average song length on Load is 5:35, meanwhile the average on 72 Seasons is 6:22. Many songs on 72 plod along and don't have enough interesting parts to justify the added time. The title track, Sleepwalk My Life Away, You Must Burn!, and If Darkness Had a Son have no business being 6-7 minutes long. I defended the long tracks on Load (which there aren't many of) because they do more interesting things compared to the copy-paste feel of these new songs. I'm fine with Inamorata cause I know the band is going for the slow-burn epic-closer vibe which I think works (it also feels shorter than 11 mins.) The last 3 tracks are really good, but the "boring butt-rock" album you guys hate has better riffs, songwriting, and more interesting ideas compared to this derivative Midtallica record.

I liked the album somewhat. I really enjoyed Too Far Gone, Lux (like everyone else), and Room Of Mirrors (I definitely think you guys glossed over a lot on that one with your commentary. I like the content but just saying "mid" a million times isn't a great review. Though I'm not disagreeing completely) but that's it. inamorata was overrated as fuck. People keep saying "Oh it's the next Orion" or some bullshit, and it's just a terribly boring long song, with awfully repetitive and cringe worthy lyrics that sound like some weird sequel to My Friend of Misery with one pretty cool middle section with bass and guitars. I'm glad they're still doing music, but listening to anything they've done in the last 20 years only just makes me want to go back and listen to the classics more
