This has to be one of the most beautiful knobbies that I've ever seen you cut in terms of color. It's almost heartbreaking to have to watch you cut it. But it was a real joy to watch the color be revealed. It always gives me a little shiver and really gets my treasure hunting spidey sense working overtime. Lol. Thanks for the lovely experience. 💙
The nicest thing about reality is the anticipation. The outcome was not as hoped for but a pair of matching gems is rare and almost as satisfying. The book has been read. Now off to the library to see what is to come.
They seriously are a cracking pair, and I, as probably all of us, would love them, but I think we can all feel your disappoint at the loss of the bigger stone too xx
@@spacesanduniversediscovery4878 You are just as confused as I am right. But maybe they are saying it isn't a stone because it is opal lol. Either way this is like 2 years later
I would have never imagined over the course of my life that opal cutting on UA-cam (granted I've the luxury of my HD Big Screen) could be as exciting as a James Bond cinematic thriller! Man! Beautiful! What a roller coaster Justin! Thank you! 😳🤯😱😁
Nothing beats Aussie opal. That nobby had me holding my breath all the way. I wanted to cry when I saw that pitch going all the way through 😭😱 The final product is a testament to your artistry Justin. Best wishes always from Perth WA xox
Stunning opals. Sorry you weren’t able to have a whole one but the pair is absolutely beautiful! Love the colors in them! Thank you for sharing your expertise. 🥰
I’ve been bingeing your videos for quite some time now, easily over the last 2-3 years. I really just want to express my gratitude to you and my absolute love for opals and your channel. Your videos have played a significant role in me finding my love for these gemstones. Without a doubt Australian opals are my absolute favourite gemstone in the world and I want to thank you so much for the effort you put into creating these videos for us and bringing us on the journey. I don’t own any opal myself yet but I have recently bought a beautiful natural white opal pendant for my dear sister with blues, reds, yellows and greens in it; it’s the first opal I’ve ever seen and held in person and I couldn’t believe my eyes at the absolute beauty that comes from these stones, especially in the sunlight. I’m saving away to buy myself a nice black opal from your online store sometime in the future just so I can own my own. Once again, thank you so much for these quality and somewhat therapeutic videos. Sorry about the long message, I just wanted to share a bit of love haha Cheers, Slav.
It’s a good thing you purchased that fine small torch at the Tucson Gem Show. It has given you another way to evaluate the best way to cut your opal. Love this beautiful pair of stones…they truly look as though they are on fire.
That red fire is unreal, what a unique and stressful nobby! My beginner parcel from you just left Sydney. I can't wait for it to arrive in Alaska (I hope they don't mind the snow).
Hi Hope you don't mind me here, I would like to meet you Justin if you are going to Arizona in Jan or Feb for the annual shows there! So, which show will you be attending and when?? How can I get in touch w you? Greg
@@garyhenderson7332 I had one parcel of Oregon fire opal shipped wet and it froze in the mailbox. I ended up with 100+ chips. ☹️ now I ensure everyone ships rough to me dry.
I really felt the heat on this one Justin. The most beautiful color of all that I have seen you cut. Two small master pieces ! It’s hard to amagin what could have been.

It's crazy to think that over the years some of the most beautiful opals could have been lost just because they were cut wrong. Always happy to see a nice rough in your hands, because I know that it will cut to the most beautiful stone possible. I like to think that mother nature smiles at you each time you reveal the true inner beauty of a stone, and trusts you to work on her most beautiful creations.
I love when you use cab machine you have the opal touch! Let the machine do the work slowly! Great job in all your videos. The explanations you give are great.

I had to watch this again cos I've never seen such beautiful colors other than a few pics of a few of the more famous opals that most everyone has seen. I hope you and the Black Opal Direct family has a great new year Justin. :)
Thanks for sharing truthfully. I’ve just started learning to work with opals and it is very very challenging to try to actually get a raw opal to face well. "Pretty little pair" is an understatement. They are gorgeous!
You’re not only a master cutter, you’re a wise man. The way you speak of opals is a good metaphor for working with people, too.

Bravo! I was on the edge of my seat. Enhanced by wonderful suspenseful music.
The fire in those 2 stones is beautiful. I was fortunate to be introduced to this craft in a 7th grade class.
I liked that cloud going through it. Then again I am an artist. But turned out to be a nice pair of earrings.
Yes, the natural combination of dark and light opal was insanely beautiful in the beginning, before the stone was cut. (Also an artist, heh.)
even the rough opal with all the potch is absolutely gorgeous wow.. those colors are stunning

If you are having opal shipped to Alaska, you better keep it warm at all times . You don’t want it to craze on you. Opal and cold weather don’t mix.
