I love how the small bedroom is decorated. Glad you kept the little red primitive chair with the pillow. Changing the small crock with rolling pins was a good substitution. You should feel so pleased with yourself for not spending, as well as sorting and taking items to your booth! Way to go, gal!
I have looked both of my sons in the eye and said ”Don’t throw the fabric away! Donate it but don’t throw it away 😅”. Same thing with my Marshall Pottery collection 😊
Old skaters lanterns♥️♥️♥️♥️. You’re killing me, you’re taking out and I’m wanting to jump through my iPad 😂. My adult kids don’t want any of it either but I’m going to enjoy it while I’m here and haunt them for selling it in a yard sale😂. On Bridgett’s video last night she was so funny as she was changing things around too. She says our primitive homes have “booby traps”, something always falling, dropping, etc😂
I’m pretty much in the same position as you are. Neither one of my children have any use for my collections. So I’m seriously thinking of having an estate sale and hopefully the monies will be distributed to my family. I just turned 75 yesterday and this is always on my mind what will become of all my possessions that some of them is over 100 years old.
Several years ago I declared that my style was definitely PRIMITIVE, but like you, I had Victorian and vintage stuff in every room along with the primitive that I had at the time. So....I worked at replacing and selling and getting rid of the pieces that just were not primitive (minus the comfort furniture and necessities of life). I'm so much happier now because when I shop....I strictly stick to primitive and refuse to allow myself to swayed into buying things that aren't primitive just because they may be popular right now. It has really made a huge difference in the look and feel of our home.. The little fluted crock is one of those popular crocks right now (check the selling price before you price yours)- they do make great containers for small trees at Christmas time or I use a couple of those to display my antique wood or bone handled flatware even though I wouldn't exactly call them primitive.
Oh dear, I would not be able to part with those crocks. 😬 You’re doing a great job on your no spend January. You should be so proud of yourself. You have gotten a lot accomplished. I should follow your example…nah, I’m not that strong. 😂
Susan, I don't know how your doing it but you're doing so good on the no spending. I may have to try this one of these months. January is hard because it's my birthday month. It's fun watching you go through your decor, you have so many wonderful things ❤
Susan you are stronger than I am. I could not have gotten rid of those red lanterns. 😊 You are going to have some great stuff to sell. Wish I could come to the junk hunt. I only have 1 son and I’ve already showed him some things that are priceless. It’s hard cleaning out.
Susan, Wow I don’t know how you’re doing it, you have so many amazing pieces it would be hard for me to part with them. lol I totally understand the kid thing I have 2 boys and neither one care anything about my antiques but I do have a precious daughter-in-love that loves all things old and she said she would make sure they done talent dump or sell it in a garage sale 🥰. See ya tomorrow 💜💜💜
You are on a roll. I need to get on a roll, too. You are doing so good with no spend January and even better getting ready for your upcoming events. Susan, my son doesnt won't anything of mine. But my husband will probably sell it all. Lol Great video.❤😊
I know you don't see me, but I'm like, I'll take that and that and that. I tell my husband all the time we need to take a trip to Tennessee to your booth. I'm in Alabama so its not that far. I'm the only one in my family that is an antique/primitive collector. My kids say why do you want old junk. And i tell them to watch their mouth. I'm still new at it, I've only been collecting for 3 years. So I love learning from you on how to style things.
I understand how you feel about things being sold at a yard sale for a dime. I feel that way about some of the things I have or will have because my children don't value things quite the way I do. Sadly, I probably did the same thing with some things that once belonged to my Mom or my Granny before I learned to appreciate them.
I don’t know how you are staying sane. Junkin is my addiction and I go every day. It really helps me keep active and seeing all my fellow addicts lifts me up!
I wouldn’t want to part with those beautiful crocks either and hope you find spots for them. Glad you kept the red chair and adorable cushion. I adore those mini rolling pins. I have two children who don’t want that junk and two who love but choose the same things !! You have been brave to not thrift and to let some treasures go to new homes. Looking forward to tomorrow.
You are doing some amazing things, good for you. i know, i will stop buying certain items, im like, Melanie if you have so many, how can you enjoy it all. I think i will do a no spend February, it's a shorter month. lol
I think all of us primitive collectors have kids who don’t care a thing for our junque! I keep reminding my daughter-in law not to sell my pantry boxes and Putz sheep at yard sales! -
It’s been around the end of October since I have been thrifting, withdrawal symptoms are real. I’m going this Sunday and I cannot wait, yay, I’m so excited
Is that a wahoo board standing next to the bears?we play that game…my mother in law made our first one…they were stationed in Oklahoma…during the war…my friends who live in Tulsa said they played it years ago…you are doing such a good job….
Day 23 whooop whoooooop! 😂 I went to the dump too! "Whewwww, not the NO SPEND...Thats haaard !" ... I want you to know I let your commercials play so you can have extra spending money on February 1 ❤❤❤❤ I even sat through a 2 minute window commercial that I wasnt interested in so you could get paid 😂❤❤❤❤ *** How much for the red and white quilt top i didnt get a good look at it but it looked pretty ... And the little girl old boots?
Yes, please watch those as it does help me and 23 days of not spending. It has not been too bad but at this moment in time, I know that I need to start in and out more. After doing this for January, I think I can continue this until February.
I know how much you love your stuff, the fact that you're selling them shows real will power you should feel proud of yourself. Good for you! 👏👏👏
I love how the small bedroom is decorated. Glad you kept the little red primitive chair with the pillow. Changing the small crock with rolling pins was a good substitution. You should feel so pleased with yourself for not spending, as well as sorting and taking items to your booth! Way to go, gal!
Omy gosh that’s the prettiest room I’ve ever seen! Your kids don’t want any of it. Well adopt me!! 😊
I have looked both of my sons in the eye and said ”Don’t throw the fabric away! Donate it but don’t throw it away 😅”. Same thing with my Marshall Pottery collection 😊

Twenty three down, eight to go! You are on a roll! I am so proud of you.
I like spending time with you you make me laugh so hard😂
Susan you’re doing great! My kids are the same way, don’t like my antique smalls and primitives. Oh well to each their own.

Susan, you’re killing me !! I want everything you pulled out of that room!! And now I need a collection on toy rolling pins !!!!’
I’m sure you will see some at The petals from past and Jemison, Alabama thanks Penny ❤️
Oh, how I wish that I lived in your neck of the woods. We just don’t have the treasures that you have in West Texas. ❤
I love the red lanterns for Christmas and July 4th decor.
Love your pretties. My daughter doesn’t want mine and it breaks my heart. I have really enjoyed your videos.
I know it’s so hard to part with stuff! I am so glad that you’re going to be at Petals from the Past! I will be going this year! ❤️

My kids don’t really want anything of my antiques either. I’m slowly getting things put on eBay and marketplace. You’re doing a good job yourself.
You are on a roll. I need to get on a roll, too. You are doing so good with no spend January and even better getting ready for your upcoming events. Susan, my son doesnt won't anything of mine. But my husband will probably sell it all. Lol Great video.❤😊
