In the early 90s and while an atheist, I'd watch the news and look at the state of the world pondering the evil presented on the evening news. Murder, rape, bashings, etc.
Then one evening while commenting to myself about the human race, the mirror was turned on me with a thought that was stamped into my consciousness. 'Everything you see about humanity and all the wickedness you observe in others, you yourself is capable of'. I believe that thought was prompted by The Holy Spirit. A year and a half later, He would intervene again when I was looking at taking my life and He gave me two reasons to stay alive. A year later, I was born-again.

But I guess this logic does not work for those that consider themselves to be as gods. When self worship is number one, when they ask themselves the above questions, they insert themselves in place of God and then they determine for themselves, wether or not their nature is carnal or spiritual.

I became a Christian 50 years ago and I've always I've always found my identity as a child of God and the things He's imbued to me in Christ. That is, my identity is not in myself, but in Christ. Col 3 reads: "For you died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then shall you also appear with him in glory."
Galations 2 " I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me..."
My identity is that of God's child and in my life my purpose is to imitate Him and His character and attributes all that I can. I could go on....😄 but I'll spare ya'll.

This discussion catapulted me into researching the very interesting topic of genetics and criminality. I've only just begun, but I already find an abundance of scientific articles that indicate that there is a genetic component, and it is not limited to people in lower socioeconomic or educational conditions, or those who have mental issues, but it also includes those who have privilege, higher education, and wealth as well as those in the middle of these two extremes. This is just further evidence of the truth of Scripture which says, "There is none righteous, no not one... " Romans 3:10. No one knows the hearts of men better than our Creator!!! But, praise God, we have hope of redemption through faith in the only sinless man who ever lived, Jesus Christ, the very son of God, who paid the penalty for our sins in His death on the cross. May God give us all the grace to put aside our pride and call out to the only One who can help us. Thank you, Martyn Iles for speaking the truth.

While it is true genetics predispose us all to a certain type of sin (some are more susceptible to alcohol addiction. men are more susceptible to aggressive behavior than women. Women are more susceptible to gossip). It is not true that out genetics decided whether we sin, or the degree to which we sin. Such a statement would be in contradiction to our ability to choose good and evil. We are moral beings, not animals who behave based on instinct alone.

Thanks Martin! This was So applicable as today in the small country town of Warrnambool,Vic there were two separate 'Pride' & 'Drag' (Dressed Resembling a Girl) events. This, along with the recent introduction of those types of identifiers conducting reading visitations in local schools. I totally agree with you on all points here. At the cross & Christ is where we find our 'identity'. Where if we so will & desire, we can begin a life of restoration first spirit, then soul and body. In the image of God, 'perfected' from glory to glory as God intended for Adam. His best for mankind comes when we (humans) admit our worst/our lack of his pressence & ability. To be 'perfect'ed in him..from the strongs means, 'to be complete and entire, wanting nothing, to be fully furnished (in God/ his understandings, thoughts/desires/spirit/soul/body..love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, etc..a child of God, a servant of the King, a soldier of the cross ...etc..)'. This is where we find who we really are, our full potential, in him, through Christ (also The Anointed one, The Word of God) developing in relationship/ faith/ his truth, life & becoming renewed/transformed into more likeness of Christ. hi Martin , just watched a 60 minutes interview from 3 years ago where you were asked: Is being Gay a Sin? Your answer traumatized and offended my life long search for truth and my christian conscience. You said NO. Did you compromise under pressure? Jesus said that if a person looks at a woman so as to desire her he has committed Adultery in his heart. Matt 5:27-28. That is not an act but a desire that comes from the heart that is the sin. We are given a commission to even stand before Kings and defend our faith. "But sanctify the Christ as Lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defense before everyone who demands of you a reason for the hope you have, but doing so with a mild temper and deep respect". 1Peter 3:15 so from scripture Is being Gay a Sin? the answer is Yes.
1Cor. 6:9-10 Do you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived (misled): neither the impure and immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who participate in homosexuality, nor cheats, (swindlers and thieves), nor greedy graspers, nor drunkards, nor foul-mouthed revilers, and slanderers, nor extortioners, and robbers will inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God.
Not every evil committed by humans is listed in detail here, however, we know that all unrighteousness is sin, sin that needs to be repented of.

It is seen separating Christians and Jews by the likes of early church fathers such as Justin Martyr, John Chrysostom, and even earlier when Victor went after Polycrates (trained by Polycarp who was trained by John) for keeping Passover according to the scriptures.

There is nothing good in me that God hasn't put there. I look to Him to make me what I was created to be, to lead me in paths of righteousness, and trust Him to finish what he started.
I was 50 years old and never had an identity due to sexual abuse when I was 3.5 years old by a woman and tons of emotional abuse the rest of my childhood. But, with one name, and one dream, at the height of my literally giving up (not suicide just giving up) gave my identity where I had none. After that God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost took me places I'd have never gone on my own and showed me things that are downright amazing. Before Jesus Christ, we don't have identity. After Jesus Christ, we have belonging and identity.

I am currently talking to someone on how my deafness effects me and my life and impacts on my relationship with my wife . this person keeps going back to you need to take time out just to be your self I said that sounds a lot easier then you think once your married as there a 2 people in that relationship and if you belive like I do Gods the Glue to our relationship its not plain sailing if you both have different health issues as I type this my wife in hospital not well but we both know our God will never leave us or forsake us no matter what we are both going through
so this person said how are you coping is said OK but my trust is in God to help us both through what we are going though.

In the 1611 vGeneva version of the Bible, it quotes: Genesis 1:26 This image and likeness of God in man is expounded, Eph. 4:24, where it is written that man was created after God in righteousness and true holiness, meaning by these two words, all perfection, as wisdom, truth, innocence, power, etc., very much along the lines of what is being preached here but what if the meaning of image is imagination, i.e. Gods thoughts and imagining of how man should be like?? it seems to make more sense and afterall were not all of creation al of when it had not been before all of it in God's mind of His conception and imagination.

I don't know what animals know about a creator, but I think humans could learn a lot about interacting with our Creator by watching our dogs.
My dog injured her foot. Every day for months I had to order her to hop up on the bed so that I could clean, medicate, and dress the wound. It is a very painful injury, and the treatments are also painful.
When she first hurt the foot, she came to me and put her paw into my hand. She jumped at the pain the first time when I cleaned it, and again when I applied the medication.
After that first time, I say, "Up UP!" and she gets on the bed and presents the injured foot. She still winces and occasionally whines, but she never resists.
I am sure she does not understand how or why her foot suddenly started to hurt, (she ripped off a metatarsal pad on some ice last winter.)
I do not even know if she understood that the treatments were meant to help her. I just know that she, faster and stronger than me, accepts that I am in charge, and deep within, she KNOWS that I would not harm her in anyway.
How many times have we looked at our Creator and asked, "Why did you let this happen to me?"

Some of you might find this to be interesting:
Back during the mid-90's outpouring of the Holy Spirit, about mid way into the outpouring (summer of 1995) the Holy Spirit issued a prophetic edict saying:
"When this outpouring ends, the enemy is poised to retaliate against the outpouring by raising up the biggest onslaught of religious activity in the history of the Lord's Church. Therefore I want you to forgo doing religious things. That means no going to church, no going to conferences, no going to homegroup meetings, and no getting involved in any religious 'good works' agendas. What I want you to do is to stay home and learn to develop a relationship with me in the quiet at home."
There were several verses of scripture that accompanied the prophecy; I can't remember all of them but I do remember these:
"For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: in returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not." Isaiah 30:15 in the King James Version.
"Let us labor therefore to enter into his rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief." Hebrews 4:11
"And that ye study to be quiet..." 1 Thess. 4:11
"Be still and know that I am God..." Psalm 46:10
This prophecy became known as "The Do Nothing" word. It was spoken by numerous Christian prophets all over the world that summer. I heard it spoken in several prophetic meetings that summer.
There was a somewhat well known Christian prophet from Montana named John Moore who was a cattle rancher (he passed on about fifteen years ago) who the Lord used to speak the prophecy in many meetings in the northwestern states. He had a following of prophetic people in the northwestern states, where the prophecy became known as "The Moore Word."
I live in Alabama, and one day a couple of years later I mentioned the prophecy to a friend who is a Christian prophet, and he said he had heard the prophecy, and that it was called "The Moore Word." In fact, he said that the Lord had spoken to him a couple of years earlier and said "Listen to the Moore Word."
At the time the prophecy was given nobody could envision what the Lord was talking about when he foretold about the biggest onslaught of religious activity in the history of the Lord's church. The prophecy was given during June and July of 1995 which was ten years before UA-cam was concocted by the kingdom of darkness overlords (aka principalities/fallen angels).
The reason they concocted UA-cam was to use it as a forum for religious spirits to speak through human mouthpieces in order to acclimate Christians to soul power ministry that is empowered by religious spirits, so that when the end-time outpouring of the Holy Spirit comes and the Lord brings the true prophets out of hiding, most Christians won't be able to relate to them and will distrust them, and will be afraid of them, and will reject them, and some Christians will persecute them (Jesus foretold about it in Matthew 10:17 and 23:34).
In case you don't already know, the religious spirits are the highest echelon of warrior/foot-soldier demons in the kingdom of darkness hierarchy who are meticulously groomed by the kingdom of darkness overlords (aka principalities/ fallen angels per Ephesians 6:12 in the King James Version) to know how to mimic the Holy Spirit when necessary (some of them can be very convincing), which is done mostly through human mouthpieces operating in soul power and presumption "Who have said, with our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?" Psalm 12:4 (and accompanied by their posture of perfection). And conversely, the religious spirits also know how to oppose the Holy Spirit when necessary, which is done mostly in church meetings by the man-at-the-top, and/or by the church matriarch who is usually his wife (but not always), and especially by music ministers.
So what it boils down to is that UA-cam was concocted by the kingdom of darkness overlords as a buffer against the coming end-time outpouring of the Holy Spirit that is foretold about in scripture, by using the myriad of do-gooder religionists who are obsessively posting videos on UA-cam to acclimate Christians to false teaching and false prophecy so that when the Lord brings the real thing on the scene they won't be able to relate to it and will reject it.
One afternoon in July of 2014 I was digging around in one of my desk drawers looking for someone's phone number (my auto mechanic's phone number), and while I was digging around in there out of the blue the Lord spoke to me and he said:
"Prophecy isn't for everyone. Most Christians say they believe in prophecy, and they think they do, but they don't really."
That kind of blew my mind because it had been awhile since he had spoken to me like that, and because it was so far off from what I was thinking about at the time (my pickup truck that needed fixing).
And since then I have noticed that there are very few Christians who I talk to who show very much interest in prophetic words like this one (i.e. the "Do Nothing Word).
The following is a list of verses of scripture that foretell about the end-time outpouring of the Holy Spirit:
Joel 2:23, Joel 3:13-14, Isaiah 30:25, Isaiah 45:8, Matthew 13:39, and Revelation 14:14-16 (all in the King James Version, as any other version might read differently).

everyone seems to assume satan is going to be horrid. if i go to hell then GOD is "punishing me" for my sins,
but why would satan want to punish me too? satan hates christians. if i'm being punished by satan, then satan is
doing god's work - that makes zero sense. hell is more likely to be eternity having more fun than you ever could on earth, this
is what god hates, heaven will just be eternal worship, satan is SAVING you from an eternity of boredom and slavery.
i see no reason why hell wouldn't be a great place to be, no mind control, no ten
commandments to follow, just eternal life that you can probably quit if you get bored with learning guitar from
hendrix or trying to grasp relativity from einstein. why would hell be undesirable? why would satan want to torment
me - he hates god and christians, not sinners.
This guy needs to teach keeping Gods commandments and faith of Jesus. Peace👍🏻

Identity has too much I in it.
Christ said that if you would follow Him, you must deny yourself. Denial of self. The objective is to lose oneself in Him. Only in Christianity are your lost in its Leader. Only Christianity claims that its adherents are "in Christ".
