- Mike of Yandas Music reviews the Fender Blacktop HH Stratocaster.
Edit: The Blacktop Strat has sadly been discontinued. Check out our other Fender guitars here: bit.ly/31Wm9ZP
I've owned this guitar for a year and a half and play it every week. I'll play everything from clean blues to heavy metal. It's fantastic. It's got a great feel, looks awesome, but the real beauty of it lies in the variety of tones you get from this axe. One thing to point out, this video is incorrect concerning what pups are active in which settings. The correct pup combinations are:
Position 1: Bridge Humbucker
Position 2: Two outer single coils
Position 3: Both Humbuckers
Position 4: Two inner single coils
Position 5: Neck Humbucker
Position 4 gives you an EXCELLENT clean blues tone while position 1 can get you searing leads. I doubt I'll ever part with mine. It's awesome.
Probe Hound Thank you for the correct information :)
Hey sorry for the really late reply but I found this guitar at a shop used for $790 is that a good price to purchase this, also I love to play classic rock like Beatles and stuff so would you recommend??? Thanks man
its 650$ on amazon
i mean the black one with maple fretboard
+AY media Dude, I bought my blacktop Strat in cherry red in really good shape, a ding here and there but really minor stuff for 225 bucks off CL
You have the maple fretboard one or rosewood ?
I'm gonna buy this strat, I love strats but I always wished they had more bite, this one growls and I love it.
My homemade strat is similar to this...originally a SSS it's a HH now with SD Alnico 2 pro neck & bridge humbuckers & mini toggle to split the neck for single coil. Love it!
Something that's cool about these guitars that most people probably don't know is that if you changed the faceplate you can use single coil pickups. However, on a stock single coil strat you can't put on a humbucker faceplate on without doing a little bit of wood work.
Let me see if I understand, you can switch to an SSS pickguard without any problems? These are HH, there's a slot where the middle single coil would go on these?
Whatever you please to do. It's simply a woodcutting feature not so common.
thank u for the information^^
so i can use humbuckers and single coils?
i mean can i play metal ?
Yeah, it's pretty cool. I play a lot of hard rock and metal on mine.
thank u ^^
I would like one in a Vintage White or Cream color.
nice, thanks for the review!
I got just question .. is there to much difference between the sound of this blacktop n' the sound of a standard strat ?? I'll appreciate someone reply me t-you =)
elmero mero Hmm this is 14k om PAF style pickup. You may consider it as a mix of Fender and Gibson. Well I thought this might be one of the best rock machine around the market. But currently Fender stopped to product since they shrinked their production range. The std strat has a thin sigle coil sound which is good for clean and overdrive, may not that good for distortion (espacially for higain). This blacktop may cover distortion better.
Which blacktop is better for playing pop punk? The telecaster or stratocaster? or could i not go wrong with either one?
Both would be good, I'd go with the tele though
Tele.
telecaster
*****
strats got the whammy bar
what is better hh or hss
Neither, just depends on what your ears/fingers prefer. The humbucker in the neck will give you fatter, rounder sound. The single coils well give you more spank.
Awesome !
Another gain-y demo. No idea what the guitar sounds like clean or with reverb or just strummed with these reviews that seem to dominate YT.
