From what I could tell in the video the guy mounted the GPS tire in the 50/50 side.
I think this would have been a much fairer trail if he would have mounted them in the 40/60 por mostly off road riding position.

Good review. Would be good to see the comparison between all 3. With the gps having the dual venture up front.
You’re running the gps in 50 / 50 direction. Is there much of a difference either way u run the gps? Cheers for the reviews.

I have a GPS rear with a Scorpion STR front on my DR650 and I really like them combo for 50/50. The combo does excellent on pavement and has great traction Off-road. I just did a 1k trip last month that was mostly pavement and there was no vibration or sounds to complain about even at freeway speeds. Both tires are excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend both!

Lucky me, I'm shopping tires for my DR at the moment! Having a 19"x 2.5" laced up for the front so probably going to stick with road bias without completely sacrificing dirt use. Appreciate the recommendation 👍

@@gabrieltiso8537 Sweet! 3 years later I still have my DR and want to put a 19" wheel up front. I was hoping to do it this year but it will probably be next year now. My next set of tires that I need soon will be Shinko 705 and I'm going to use tubes with the balanced beads in them.
Since then I've also put a full Cogent suspension on my DR. New springs, DDC's, and preload adjusters up front with a Mojave shock (non piggyback) out back. WOW what a difference! The best thing I've ever done to the DR and I highly recommend it if you haven't done any suspension work already..

@@curiousambitions9331 right on! That's awesome about your suspension. Mine was set up for the previous owner so a little stiff for me but better than stock. It's a fun bike and I'm hoping it will rail similar to my drz supermoto.
Also having a 4.25x17 made for the rear. I might use a shinko 705 in the back and a Dunlop trail mission in the front. From what I gather these tires don't sacrifice much road performance. Thanks for putting the STR on the radar !

You guys do such a great job with these videos. The camera work, the sound and the editing are very professional. Most of all, your content is so helpful. It’s invaluable for consumers like me to see such great real world testing. It’s more help than you can imagine.
For my riding mix I think the Tractionator Adventure is the best compromise. It’s very good on asphalt, but as I’m trying to improve my off road ability, I’m pushing myself more, and I think the GPS, for what I’m trying to do, would lack the bite. The Rallz is probably more aggressive than I need. I’ve done 9000km on the Adventures so far, a 50/50 mix of asphalt and hard off road. The rear has maybe 1500-2000 left, but I can feel the loss of traction already both on and offroad. The front will get close to the wear of 2 sets of rears. I’m very happy with them...plus they look like a beast.

I said it once and I'll say it again...this channel is amazing. You have basically one test bike (a great bike!) and you test a bunch of tires and give the pros and cons. This is very helpful! I have a 1090r as well and need something for mileage, commuting, wet pavement and definitely off road. I think a Motoz Rallz in the front and GPS in the rear would do the trick. Thoughts?

    • @chaparralmotorsports

Our pleasure! We are down to our at 8 tires to be tested... and now I am running the KTM 1190 Adv R. Stay tuned for KTM content coming your way ;) The GPS in the rear and the RallZ up front would be a great combo. The GPS FRONT is a little "too street" orientated for my personal weekend excursions so I have run the MotoZ ADV in the front and the GPS In the rear with great results. (that was pre-RallZ being invented) A RallZ up front and GPS in the rear will be a great combo. The "con" in that combo is that the front tire will wear out before the back tire ;) -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

I have run the GPS , Desert HT and know the Rallz ( my M21 front has so far outlast two and 1/2 tears . The M21 has been around for years but I believe the BEST front in all conditions. Wet asphalt. Road , dirt , Desert and mud . Getting back to the rear Yes the GPS was quite on road but in VERY rocky “ hasty hill climbs “ and sand had its limits . The Desert HT by far the BEST traction off road but on road NOISY ASS was like I had a wheel bearing going ! The rally is the best of both worlds but definitely will not have the distance of the GOS.

Awesome video. Im in between these two so this back to back vid was a great help. Im almost at the end of a set of Karoo 3s on my KTM 790R. They have been great in most situations except wet pavement where they start to slide on the bends way too soon for my liking. Which one of these would go best on wet pavement in the twisties? Would the Tractionator ADV be a good compromise between these two as an all round all terrain all weather tire? I guess I need the most help from a tire off road but dont want to get overtaken by too many sports bikes on the alpine passes on the way to the trails or slide out in the wet when im running late for work.

I have 17,000kms on a set of Motoz gps on my 1190 adventure (non R with the 19inch front). The rear has 10% tread left and the front has about 40% left. I'm stocked with the mileage and they are tough as nails. I've used them in almost every scenario. I get best dirt traction at 22-25psi, at 30psi the feel a little vague and easily slip even on graded dirt roads. The side walls are super tough, low pressures are no problems for short stints on the road. However they did split a little early on, I though it was because I had them at 30psi for road riding but it never got worse. Wet traction is below average, especially riding over wet painted lines but I had them at 36/42 psi (ktm recommended pressures) on every occasion I rode them in the wet so they would probably do better set at a lower psi.
I really like the tyres and highly recommended them especially if millage is a priority.
A break down of my riding with the gps.
2000kms of fast but very rocky graded road through the aussie outback
    about 500kms slower technical tracks
roughly 100kms of sand (not so fun in the deep stuff)
7000kms of hwy touring through aus
    a bunch of twisty's
lots of city commuting and 1 track day (just for giggles).
The only thing I haven't taken them in is mud.

Have they dealt with the cracking issues on the GPS? I had to replace a K60 in Panama and by the time I made Ecuador there were cracks around the treads. Probably less than 1500 miles, properly inflated and not overloaded. Terratech in Lima had a pile of them in the corner, riders replacing them because of early splitting. Other than that issue I would be running them on my GSA right now, because the tires performed really well.

Chaparral Motorsports .. ok Kyle let me tell you what the problem was.. so I got my tires ..called a local dealer for mount and balance..they did that.. the service tech took my bike out for a good 10 min ride.. came back and told me wow it really dives in the corners and vibrates a lot.. but it’s cause ya know the knobbies.. so I had like a 15 mile ride home I did about 5 mile pavement then hit gravel roads for the rest..it was really nerve racking ride on pavement around the corners was fighting it.. on straight road vibration wAs insane hands went numb in like a quarter mile.. dirt and gravel was much better..but still not what I expected..so I got home and was like wow so bummed out gonna order the gps.. well that night I was thinking it almost feels like a flat tire but don’t see it when looking at it and pushing on the knobbies.. so went to bed got up and checked pressure next morning.. 24 lbs of air.. what the hell put it up to 32.. test road it.. dirt for first 10 miles or so.. fantastic.. then did another 15 miles or more on pavement..holy crap so much better almost no vibration..can take high speed corner just moving my eyes... lol they are amazing now I am in love with the tires.. awesome..anyone thinking of getting them do so.. they grip so great.. so the moral of this long story is double check the service tech.. I checked after the dirt part of ride.. with gauge pressure fine no leaks.. then again after pavement ride fine no leaks.. so the tech clearly only had put 24 lbs in rode it and didn’t even think to check it himself before sending me home like that.. crazy right! .. well just wanted to tell you thank you again.. tires are fantastic.. love them bud.

I have ran GPS front & rear on 1250GS and they are good for both sealed & unsealed, wet/dry & hot/cold.
The solid center of the rear tyre is a problem off road just as Kyle says and it is too easy to spin the rear tyre up which kills traction even more and unfortunately, accelerates wear. With some tempered off road riding, but not always tempered, i milked the rear tyre for 12,500 kms.
On sealed roads coming out of corners reasonably hard on the gas the traction control light would flash lots. But grip was OK with no moments but i did get some odd wear shapes out of the side tread blocks as they distorted under load.
The front GPS has better grip than a street biased adventure tyre off road. Not great but if i ride accordingly, as an on road/off road compromise it is a 50/50 imo and provides more surety.
If i use a rear GPS tyre again, i would like to get a tyre groover and take out some of the solid center-line tread to provide some more leading edges to get more off road grip. Leave the side tread block as is for sealed roads.
A Motoz Adventure rear tyre would be good but i think the block spacing is too great for edge grip on sealed roads.
But a mate i ride with who has a GSA with Motoz Adventure tyres f&r disproves my concern about these Adventure tyres grip on sealed roads as the way he tips into corners and the corner speed he carries scares me lots but he has not binned it yet. I don't like him leading as i have trouble staying with him :)

Hi Pan, the Tractionators GPSs took third overall in our 50/505 ADV. The Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR are an 80/20 (on road/off road) tire and took third overall in our 80/20 ADV tire shootout. So it's kinda tough to say for the type of riding you described, however, I would probably lean more towards the Tractionator GPS just for the added offroad capability. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching. Ride safe.

The GPS has such hard sidewalls you can air down to 24-25rear 25-27front and get away with it on that type of terrain with so much more traction but it gets a little squirmy on tarmac if you don't bring the air pressure back up. No passenger or extra weight on the bike of course.

Wish you would have compared the MOTOZ TRACTIONATOR ADVENTURE against the GPS. The Rally is much more aggressive then the Adventure and the GPS ., I think the Adventure from what I am seeing in all the tests. The GPS VS the Adventure .. The gps is longer wearing adn a little better on the highway, but the Adventure still beats the Rally overall highway/offroad.

How aboutdoing that test again but with the Tractionator turned round the other way on the rim. This way it would be a much fairer test as the tractionator turned around is supposed to be more a 80/ 20 tyre. I have not seen one test yet where anybody has done this. You cannot compare a 50/50 to a rally really.
